That’s a very disappointing link Adam. It’s a great shame to see those giant trees just laying shattered on the ground. Didn’t spot it in the story’s but what happens to the land when they clear out the logs ?

Really loving this theme Adam. We are so lucky we can see the determination you show for getting the feel and light of this lake and the submerged tree trunks. The colors in raw and just mouth watering and then you subtly lift them to jaq dropping. The water colour with the foliage and the gleaming trunks together is just .... 😍.
Obviously many of us watch several landscape photography presenters and take what we can but hardly any include you, like you do. It really is a conversation that you have with the viewer where others take their methods beyond the reach of beginners and I guess the bulk of the viewers. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your techniques and time.

Adam, whenever I watch your videos from the old forests, I wish to be there. The forests are magical. I hope they stop logging them, it's not possible to regrow them. Here, in the Central Europe, we still have some small patches of natural forests (mainly spruce a beech trees). The trees are nowhere near as huge as the ones on the Vancouver Island, but being in such a forest, it's a special feeling.
Thank you for such a vivid explanation on your steps for reaching a proper exposure.

Your intro was just so classy Adam. The music you select is always so arresting. I loved the lay of that waterfall and how you approached, a very good find. I love that sense of adventure w/ getting lost. And the clincher was the subtle post process you did to the trail snake through the trees. You have such a gift for the subtleties that create meaningful pictures. O, I almost forgot - that high overhead shot of your van crossing the bridge below was a special view, so sloooooooow, nice!

I agree, there is no need to log old growth forests anymore.There is a great need to preserve these areas for future generations to enjoy, not just look at what it used to be like in the wonderful images you produce. I think it wouldbe better if there was some flute misic with a reverb. I don’t know many from a caravan’s bathroom.
Sometimes, getting ‘lost’ is what works to bring about great adventure and perhaps, great images.
Sometimes it's not all that bad to not take maps and get lost, it did get you a very nice picture!!

You need to spend more time in the walbran. If you hike the harriet naneee memorial trail, there is this beautiful limestone canyon, above 'monster jam'.
Another great video Adam, like the thought process on the waterfall image. Not convinced by the new clothing, you look a bit like a Werther's Original (UK viewers should know what I mean)😂

Wow, Adam, getting lost isn't so bad if you can land at such a beautiful location. Looks like there could be several photo ops in that area. Loved your into footage also and look forward to seeing a continuation of your trip.
Excellent work as always Adam! I've been waiting for some cloudy days here in Tennessee to shoot some waterfalls I've found, but summer tends to be nothing but bluebird skies... and hot! Living vicariously through you today!
As always, I find your video and images very inspiring and relaxing. I like that the strength of your images doesn’t seem to require hours in post. I would love to know what your post-process “typically” consists of...understanding that every image is different. BTW...are you familiar with On the Verge produced by Arc’teryx? Great vid on TH-cam re: old growth logging in your neck of the woods.
Thank you...wonderful to be able to enjoy your photography adventures within nature. Where I live - Melbourne Australia, we have gone back into lockdown - no photography adventures for awhile for hubby and me!. But, again, thank you - very much enjoyed viewing.

Thanks for exploring and sharing this area of Vancouver Island with us. It is encouraging that there are more people visiting there as, hopefully, that will provide an awareness of the beauty of the place and help to save it from the saws. Don't you have Gaia Maps on your phone? It just uses GPS signal and thus you don't need a cell signal or wifi? Anyway, fabulous video with really nice attention to the detailed process and decision making that goes into a well-crafted photo. Getting there from Port Renfrew looks a bit dicey; I would imagine all logging roads.
Excellent video. I made it once to Port Renfrew, but not to the park. Most Canadians haven’t seen old growth areas and don’t realize logging of them can and does take place. Thanks for the care you take in making these photos, and sharing them.
Fascinating to hear your settings thought process in such detail. And to realize the time you take to get everything just right. It's not surprising that your photos (and videos) are so spectacular.

Such a good video. For me, it was the exquisite intro that was so beautifully filmed. This is the quintessential Gibbs work, careful and with some of your superb drone work. Then the detailed explanation of the waterfall image was incredibly useful. I’ve never watched a video (and I’ve watched far too many!) that moved at a perfect pace with thorough explanations of handling highlights, checking for depth of field, etc. Having these details shown on the back of the camera really helped me. Seeing how and when you use the histograms was great. Five star work. Thank you.
Nice work. I agree, no logging old growth. Where I live there are only 40 acres of old growth preserved; 350 year old white pines!

Wish I spend more time when I visited Victoria and Vancouver Island from taking the ferry from Seattle. Was a 2 day side trip when we went to Seattle, just the Butchart garden itself was magical. Who knew there were that many more things on this island.

Good adventure Adam. Trail crews are an under-appreciated group of people. The amount of work that trail took is incredible, and people will benefit for years. I have an exposure question from your shot of the falls where there were some blinkies in parts of the water. My understanding is that you’re seeing a JPEG preview on the back of the camera and that level of overexposure is easily recovered in the Raw file. The amount of blinkies you showed is almost exactly what I aim for with my D810. Am I misunderstanding something? Thx for the video - it brightened my Saturday morning. 🥂

I'm sad to hear about the old growth there and I definitely need to visit before it's all gone. We have very similar situation in Finland. 70% of Finland is forest but less than 1% is old growth.

Adam, so enjoy your forest images. Live in the same kind of environment here in Pa. Enjoy your rich green colors. Never having used polarizer filter would you recommend for someone just starting to use one. Have a fairly good grasp of f stops, iso, and shutter speed. Just always shied away from filters because don't really understand them. Could you please respond? Bill.
Yes if I were to just own one filter then I would purchase a circular polarizer. If you do purchase a polarizer my recommendation would be to not go cheap on it and buy a polarizer that fits your largest diameter lens and then purchase step down rings if need be for your other lenses.

Yes to the end of logging in the old rain forests. We should start a movement. I went to visit my sister in Sechelt BC recently and was horrified to see what they were doing on Dakota Ridge.

Hi Adam, great video, as always. After you show the raw of your photograph, you are blending it over to the processed one. Would it be an option have a step in between to show them side-by-side and then blend out the raw, leaving the final version only. I try to "study" the changes between them, but it is difficult to do so, if I have to jump forth and back in the video all the time.

Vancouver and BC are well known for there wild life how do you kope with that, bears courgars etc. etc.!!
At 10:00 I don’t understand why it is a problem if the only
areas that have blown out highlights is the water that has motion blur which
won’t have detail. 1/3 @ F 16 vs 1/6 @F 16. That extra stop in the shadows
should go a long way to diminishing the noise in the dark areas. I get the
water will have a different feel due to the changes to shutter speed.

How you’ve processed the boardwalk image from a that’s nice RAW to a wow, mysterious, emotive and atmospheric piece of art. I’m not sure you can learn that skill you know, I think it comes from the soul. Be interested to hear what you think.
Both images I would like to see in square format instead of portrait.
