    There is always a strong sense that Adam is providing an open and honest insight of how a master crafts an image. We are so lucky that these videos are made, shared & made available without charge. Thank you so much!

    Very late for a comment on a 2 year old video, but I just invested in a geared head and it has truly slowed me down and made a huge difference. It sometimes pays to make things harder for yourself than being super convenient!

    Both photos are beautiful, but I think I prefer the second because of the balance as you pointed out, and because the green plants brought the eye through the image nicely, hopping from the lower left and eventually to the background light.

    Adam - I really appreciate the 'in-field' descriptions of the details of the process, your concerns, selection of f-stop, focusing and your concerns about what could be better. It is exceptionally helpful to get inside the photo with you as the image is created. And then the addition image that was taken with a different framing - it can only help your subscribers in their development. Thanks again - Chris

    @jamesjohnston6765 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like the second image as you are correct about the balance with the foliage in the lower left corner. I was bothered in the second image when I saw the RAW file by exactly what caused you to use the warp tool. Nature does what it wants but our eyes/brain have a hard time with leaning trees in images. Very nice. I have a feeling you are building up to something even more special in the next video.

    I try to support Canadian Photographer with Tube Channels but I've always wondered those with lots of subscribers, who do they support? You should always slow down and enjoy the time we have in the woods and on this planet. Nice to see photographers having to explore their backyards! Should make photographers better as they can't jump on a plane and fly to somewhere your guaranteed a good photo. Then again your backyard may hold that master piece waiting to be discovered! I'm a backyard photographer and I enjoy my times out in the wild.

    I love how you do the composition lesson on the back of the camera. Its so great to get a workshop style lesson on TH-cam and your art is one that I keep coming back to and feeling drawn to with your woodland work after growing up in the PNW. Woodland is such a challenge and I despised it at first but nowadays I keep wanting to jump into forest scenes and learning how to simplify. Thanks for inspiring me on this and breaking down the chaos for me. I enjoyed your workshop lessons on the F4 roadtrip alot. I would enjoy having an Adam Gibbs only video workshop to purchase someday given these covid times. Cheers!

    Hi Adam , excellent video by the way , with regards to the two images I personally prefer the 1st image . The tree in the foreground looks a lot more imposing as if it’s somehow standing guard over what is potentially in the background, in other words it leaves a lot more to the imagination. Great work Adam 👍

  • @gilbertsauve4490
    @gilbertsauve4490 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I prefer the first composition because of the simplicity of the foreground, it's more intimate and I feel a sort of mystery. It's like I'm hiding in the shade behind the large trunk and that little patch of light on the green leaves it's me lurking.

  • @allenbuyck7957

    I am more an more amazed at the drone footage and how you maneuver through such tight spaces. As always, the photography is gorgeous and the message to "slow down" is spot on. Not taking time is my biggest issue when I am photographing in nature.

  • @reiddickson
    @reiddickson 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like the first image specifically due to the more vibrant light in the background; it seems to help balance the composition more than added interest in the bottom left on the second. Carmanah never fails to amaze me.

  • @davebenson1504
    @davebenson1504 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    love that flick of the wrist tripod set-up at the beginning... something I need to practice too... I am drawn more into the second photograph... and perhaps as much for what happens in the background, that image has three thin trees which enhances the depth even more. the addition of the oblique green line also makes the image stronger... and of course supports the concept of slow down and spend time in one spot. I would like also to see what you got from the other side looking back... but that is just me being greedy :-)

    In the second image I like the way the Salal leads you into the scene from the bottom left. I wouldn’t have thought of cutting off half the large truck, but I can see your reasoning, and it works. Such a beautiful forest stunningly interpreted in your images, Adam.

    Very nice, Adam....the biggest challenge for sure for weekend warriors is to slow down after working in front of a computer all week. The other challenge is..... it is often a lot work to get to some untouched remote locations and I find myself catching my breath before I pull my camera out of the pack. I find the second image to be more successful due to the foreground and the depth created by including more of the foliage and the suggested small curve of the trail, creating more "place" and anticipation of turning the bend around the large cedar.
    I also love to see all of your setup techniques at the start. I learned a new trick on opening a tripod with the one handed twist unlock of all tripod sections and then the snap extension. Can you tell me the pack you are using? Beautiful drone imagery/music coordination as always.

  • @BruceLR57
    @BruceLR57 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The second image for sure. Much more to enjoy in the photograph as the eye wanders through it. (That drone footage was awesome, too. Doesn't look as if you could see the drone as the footage began. Quite a job of maneuvering.)

    One of your best vlogs . I get so much out of your explaining compositions. Appreciate the honesty on the revised comp as many would simply stick with the second "better" comp . Such a great shot , could walk right into it and so sweet on a 70" screen with a cup of coffee and family still in bed ! Makes my morning and inspires me to get out ! Would love to see some post processing of these scenes one day ....

    I agree, image two seems more appealing and flows better. The foliage in the lower left prevents a "black hole" there and the tree alignments in the background seem less cluttered or squeezed together in the second image. Wonderful image overall. Loving the format of your videos lately Adam. Any chance you can make a quick video to show how you used the warp tool to locally adjust the tree alignment that you mentioned?
