I am training a young man in India over the internet who wants to be a break dancer. My favorite free hand exercize is something I call THE SCISSOR Its a straight sit up and leg raise with arms over head abd abs pulled in. It starts with a breath, exhale and up and pull in and down. The breathing is essential to keepung the avs pulled in. It's harder than it looks and taked time to coordinate. But I think this is the core exercize to be able to do the handstand

This is a good video, I appreciate the fun parts at the end also. I will be trying the exercise techniques. I have started to practise the 'L' part already. I already know how to do a variety of headstands because I practice and teach Ashtanga yoga :-). I'm trying to get back my form to do a proper handstand :-).

Good tips for the exercises although there are others that will also help in holding the correct shape & form. Not sure how effective the headstand is in progressing to handstand though. Good exercise in itself but I wouldn't include as a prerequisite for a handstand. Puts tremendous strain on the neck muscles which might knock you back somewhat.
I would throw in some tips for getting into and out of the handstand safely showing the importance of good form in preparation.
Lastly, the body position and alignment towards the end of the video sucked. Posterior pelvic tilt needed and straighten those feet, it's like you're wearing wellies!

Your muscles are weak and tight, need stretching and strengthening.
You can start with this one: Theraband Scapular Retraction with Shoulder External Rotation (try pulling in the stomach while performing it). It's also a very good exercise for improving handstand safety, as it increases the rotator cuff strength and causes your shoulders to become wider (notice what circus athletes' and gymnasts' shoulders look like versus normal person).
