- Today we're looking at the new Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Super. At £149/$159 it seems like the best 1080p gaming graphics card out at the moment. But what about this little Palit version, the cheapest in the new lineup?

Kind of, how does that stack up vs integrated graphics on 3400g? I know my 2200g goes up to 1800 MHz graphics overclock (on a stock air cooler), and it’s $59 brand new right now (and of course it’s got an unlocked CPU), I haven’t seen 750ti for nearly cheap enough (with RX 470 being $60 and RX-580 8 GB being $80, it’s a very harsh market right now for anything weaker). At least locally there aren’t any good value cards like $20 like it should cost, and at that low of budget for gaming computer it’s very likely you’ll be getting a budget Ryzen (which could very well be a 2200g already just for the CPU part because of the good price-point). If the 750ti isn’t a decent upgrade over the integrated then it’s not worth much at all then, but I haven’t seen it for $20 yet, but maybe it’s that cheap other places (the US does have some screwed up used market, sometimes people seem to think it’s worth more than when they bought it new... like wanting $200 for HD7970 cards when right next to that listing is $50 R9 290x, like the pricing never seems to make sense, so maybe it’s just here that 750ti are too high making them pointless).

What I like the most about your reviews is that you always show the best performing settings. You also offer insight into what made you go with one setting over another. I’m all about overkill at decent resolution.
As the owner of a Pallit rtx 2080 ti gaming pro oc , i can say that gpu brands doesnt matter that much in performance. I have my gpu oc to 2000 mhz with max temps always under 80 degrees celsius under full load . The only downsides of palit gpus are the warranty - only 2 years , but they are much cheaper than the high end brands.

It’s still doing fine, You just need to turn the graphics down and you’ll still have around 60fps 1080p.

1: With Vulcan you have "less" Vram showed in settings menu.

@@RealHumanDave I was testing it in old patch (up to 1 week after release) and Vulcan was crashing alot, it was on 970GTX, vulcan was showing 2,6 which was awkward cuz i could not set settings higher than medium... not like i want to play at high and 30~~ fps but i was doing testing for youtube.
With DX12 tho, it was OK in game but last 2 benchmarks was crashing at Ultra settings... just try it, you can always change settings.

I put the low profile 1650 in my HP 8200 I spent 40 dollars on the entire rest of the computer. Now I have a photo workstation and gaming PC I am very very happy with. Some of my favorite games are older titles and it is a good feeling when you run out of sliders to crank up and it still flies through the game. In fact with some of the games after running it on this new card it is almost like the game got a graphics engine update. :)

If you can live with a bit of fan noise, this is one cool running card in these tests! It's working hard, but certainly not suffering from any thermal throttling! Temps are super sweet 👌 Goes a long way for a smooth gaming experience. Top vid once again mate. 👊

It's a pretty good card, and im happy Nvidia re-released it as a Super version, although in a perfect world it would already be released with the performance it has right now
Another option would be the RX 580 8 gig model. Roughly 100$ on eBay. I’m rocking that with an i5 and can’t complain at all. Runs most modern titles at 1080p on medium/high great!
Nice to see Nvidia giving better price to performance in the budget space! Those battlefield V and dirt rally 2 results are really solid. I'm curious how the upcoming 5500 will compare.

Most of the cards don't really struggle with Crysis today. The problem with Crysis is actually CPU. Because Crysis is baby of single core era. Meaning it won't use multiple cores and once you max out once core with it, you are CPU bound, regardless of extra cores and can only get more performance if you overclock that single core. Because when Crysis was made, there was still dream of frequencies shooting for stars, of Intel once making CPU with 10Ghz CPU, single core of course. But future played out differently and now it seems like we are hitting limits at about 5Ghz, shrinking to get better frequency is more or less at point of insane diminishing returns, but Crysis did not change and that is why you will more likely see it struggle with CPU today, rather than graphic card. Granted if you put something low end, like 1650 Super in it, it won't be as much of an issue. But still, this is why you need to keep that in mind at testing older games. Because in case of Crysis, you can legitimately get better result with i3 than i7 as long as you clock i3 higher. Just saying. Though I would love to see developers make Crysis remaster, keeping insane level of physics and destructible environment, but moving it to newer engine, updating some tricks used to achieve beautiful graphics to even better modern stuff and allowing it to scale with more cores. Heck, I wouldn't mind if they ported fire simulation from Far Cry 2 into it too. One thing I really miss from that era is how physics, destructible environments and stuff were done. It really is shame that today developers mostly cheap out on those and go for simpler implementations that are easier to make and don't shoot requirements as high. Don't get me wrong, I am all for games being accessible. But I also am for having big demanding stuff that really allows all your hardware to flex too and has more to show for it than pretty graphics.

I bought a 1060 with a similar cooler once. I removed the shroud and stock fan (keeping only the heatsink) and strapped a 12cm fan with an adapter from aliexpress. Best mod if you want a silent solution with these single fan coolers.

I don't think he has a capture card. I think he either A: Uses OBS on his Ryzen 5 3600(or other AMD CPUs), B:Nvidia Shadowplay when reviewing an Nvidia card, or C: possibly AMD ReLive when reviewing an AMD card. Or D:Possibly OBS on an intel processor like an i5 9400f or any other Intel CPU).

So I really searched for this one since I've got a 1650 Super OC from PALIT, got it about a month ago. It was a massive jump from my previous set-up's old Radeon 7700 series GPU. Long story short, it's a great little card, and I liked my purchase. Happy to hear that my thoughts are basically echoed.
Not when the RX 570 exists, I'd even go as far as to say the r9 390 is still viable for medium/high 1080p
Actually I just read about msi's version which apparently beats the rx 580 (they didn't mention if it was the 4gb or 8gb version).
I dont recommend the r9 390 in this day in age its 20% slower and has a tdp of 275w that's at the 2080ti power consumption no matter the price in that case save a bit more for the rx 570 it's like $80-$90 used and is only going to get lower maby do to this card for now being the now budget king with very low power consumption think its 100w or so.

@@redzyakuza Im in the uk and a used one is never below £80 besides when i build my pc next month id rather have all brand new parts ;) 1650 is still what id rather go for because of how new it is and when i decide to upgrade my card i can sell it again for £100 or something where as the rx series would be very old by then
580 with 8gb Vram also very future prove card. 4gb is in a very thin boarder. And texture difference in some games give huge graphic difference

Recently got a GTX1660 Super (6gb) for my old Dell Optiplex MT 7010 (i7-3770/16gb Ram) which used to rock a GTX1050 Ti. It was starting to struggle with games, so the new 1660 Super was a great step up. Now games run great on high/ultra settings. Also running Quest 2 with Virtual Desktop, runs great overall on a cheap budget PC.

I can OC it using the AMD OC program in windows apparently but I have yet to play with that to see how easy it is or how well it works
Great vid, I was actually considering this over my OEM R9 370, which, for 1080p with my gen 6 i5 has still been working fairly competently. I did, however, have to install afterburner because this thing runs hot at stock fan speeds, so hot it blackscreens a lot unless I keep the fan speed at 75% or higher. I don't have RDR 2 just yet, but it handles Outer Worlds pretty nicely. I do think, though, cyberpunk might kill it..but I think for now I'm going to adopt a wait and see approach and possibly look to upgrading everything early next year.

Having an hp compaq PC (with a power supply that does not have any kind of additional pin connectors for gpus) got me thinking to buy a gtx 1650, since connecting a second powersupply just to power an rx 570 is too much work and most likely risky lol
@@gateopssss You can get an SATA or Molex to GPU Power adapter an hook it up, in my experience 300W is enough for this to do safely especially considering HP doesn't include the cheapest of the cheapest parts in their business systems

The noise of any graphics card/PC is not nearly as bad as a PS4 under load lol, my roommate's PS4 when he was playing Borderlands 3 sounded like a jet engine, I could hear it through my headphones.

My old Fury cards are still the dominant graphics in 4k ultra to this day (comparing vs 2x Titan RTX vs my 4x Fury at 1/12 the cost), so sadly we are seeing a distinct lack of innovation and performance gains. But I guess that’s slightly good news for budget gamers as long as Vram isn’t a concern (whether you got 3gb or 6gb versions of the 1060), because they should hold up alright for a couple years at 1080p (it won’t be perfection or 240Hz 1080p, but it should be an enjoyable gaming experience for a while). So you should still be fine next year as long as you don’t insist on ultra quality presets and mind tweaking it down to medium, they should still deliver decent enough framerates for playing most games decent.

Tbh if you are using headphones then the fan shouldnt be a problem at least when playing games.
Also this is a very nice review as you not only benchmark it but also warn about the fan going full speed. Though I wonder in performance is there *any* changes compared with a more expensive 1650 super

Not everybody wants used, nor will they be interested in this for a desktop. It comfortably beats a 1060 3gb, and even the 6gb variant where vram isn't an issue. This GPU is a good fit for a lower mid-range spec gaming laptop, and I just happen to be in the market for one.
I do agree with you though. I can pick up a used 590 at the prices I've seen some of the higher end 1650 Super's going for. It

You can still set the manual fan curve in msi afterburner, so the fan shall stop, if set, say, less than fifty degrees celsius to keep fan at 0 %

Stay away from Palit they have crap PCB components.

Nvidia got it right with this card...and timing is good, too. No new competition from AMD (can't believe they're still pushing out the ancient 580 and 570) and just before Christmas.

You can get a GTX 1070 for 150 pounds on eBay, I know the point is to have a not so demanding card, but on the other hand you could get even more for your money if you upgrade your PSU.

i have this card and removed the shroud replaced it with a custom dual fan card attached to it is overclocked by 5% and im very impressed with it
I enjoy your GPU testing/benchmark videos, but I have a suggestion: I'd like to see you get an Oculus Rift S or equivalent VR headset and do some benchmarks with those! You've already done so many GPU videos under normal operating circumstances, let's see some real high end video card testing... or even some not so high end cards and see how they stack up against the Oculus! How about it? Thanks!
The 3050Ti should be great for 1080p. If they put DLSS on it also, it will be amazing.
I just ordered a regular 1650 low profile. After seeing the draw on these was 100w, I knew 1650 lp would be the best card you can put in a small form factor OEM system w pci-e power.
