I just got an email today that my Hulu is going up from 44.99 to 54.99 a month in December. That’s the reason Im watching this. Looks like TH-cam is now beating Hulu on price.

I just got the same email and watched this video for the exact same reason! I am not happy at all with Hulu's price hike!
However Hulu has a Great Vault of Old TV Shows (Full Season's). I just don't know???😊

Sandra Crawford I fee the same way about the old shows. My wife goes crazy for Golden Girls and Hulu is the only app that has EVERY episode.

HULU: Speaking of DVR, yesterday I ordered the full Hulu experience (no ads, hulu + live tv, disney+, espn+, etc). I've used DVR for nearly twenty years and before that VCR, so I'm quite experienced. So, I set three shows to record. Just Go With It, PGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions. As Just Go With It was streaming I checked on it, and the indicator showed "Recording", and because I saw "Recording" I took for granted that all THREE shows would record. I got up this morning, and Just Go With It was NOT recorded, and the two golf programs did. I started playback on the golf programs and both programs stopped and were stuck in the first few seconds. I started a chat with Hulu and this is what she said "We do apologize but for the playback I can confirm that this is something our team knows about, and is planning to address. I don’t have a specific date to share with you as for when this will be resolved. But rest assured that our Team is doing its best to fix the issue as soon as possible."
They have a DVR that failed to playback two of two shows, and failed to record one of three shows, and they sell this as a feature? This is a consumer goods company? They "know about it" and they can't tell me when they'll fix it? They already took my money? Their response? They said "We'll credit you 1 week on your next billing cycle." Next billing cycle? I'm one day in, and it's the worst experience imaginable, and they are so thick, they expect ME to stick around for a second month?

I had tried every service and finally settled with TH-camTV. But with the recent price increase we decided to cancel, we won’t even watch the channels they added and barely used it even for the $40 price. Also we don’t appreciate being forced into a price hike so there was a little bit of the principle of that in our reason to cancel.
We now use just Netflix, prime video and Hulu and honestly have enough content there to be satisfied with not paying $50/month. If regular tv finally got rid of commercials it would be a much better value.

Currently compared both Hulu and YTTV. I canceled Hulu and am keeping YTTV. YT has more channels, a much better DVR and the guide and app interface is clean and simple. Hulu's app interface is kind of funky. It works but it's somewhat of a pain to navigate through. The YTTV app is very straightforward.

One aspect of TH-cam TV I take advantage of is the unlimited recordings, kept for 9 months. As soon as I bring up TH-cam TV, I scan the suggested movies (conveniently presented on a row, right on the Home screen). If there are any that look like I might watch, I just click on the+ sign to have it record. So anytime I feel like watching a movie, I have literally dozens of movies available that I have some interest in. It is almost like having subscribed to a premium movie service.

I've been with TH-cam TV since it's launched when it was $35 so I've seen two price hikes and honestly it doesn't bother me. For me the streaming app works for me. The interface imo is best on the market.
I'm sure Hulu is great too, but I've just been loyal to TH-cam this long there's no point of leaving them. Now I wish they could combine the TV and music app together for a better price since I use both. Then I think I'm hook for life..lol

I was hoping to see the interfaces. Not everybody is comfortable with computers or patient with confusing interfaces, or those that spam links to "recommended" On-Demand content, etc. If I'm going to sell this to the rest of the household as an alternative to traditional TV, then the simplicity of the Live TV interface is important.
You didn't have to "rate" them, just show them so the viewer can make their own opinion.

It wasn't hard to learn the diffences, however at times it can be a bit confusing. Having said that, I can watch TV on all 4 of my TVs simultaneously with no problems. If you are on the fence, I will tell you my personal experience with TH-camTV has been great.

  • @spinman6432
    @spinman6432 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

There is one issue with TH-cam TV that makes it unusable for someone that watches most of their TV from a DVR recording. They mix the DVR recordings with a whole bunch of on demand recordings for just about every show. This makes it virtually impossible to know what you have and have not watched, if you are recording a bunch of television every week. Bottom line: If you record and watch a fair amount of TV on DVR, your are going to miss a large percentage of your shows because their is just no easy way to tell what has been recorded over the past few days and what has and hasn't been watched.
The recordings are commingled with multiple seasons of on demand recordings. You also can't delete recordings after you watch them like you can on Hulu's Live. They just automatically get deleted after 9 months. So if your used to looking up your recordings to see what you haven't watched yet when you sit down to watch TV, youtube won't work for you.
If you like to watch live TV or demand TV with commercials, this DVR issue probably doesn't matter to you. Having said that Hulu is the king of on demand and they don't mix it with your DVR recordings. Hulu's biggest problem is their limited guide, but they are reporting they will have a full guide before the 2019 fall TV season. Also the telephone customer service at Hulu is really impressive. These people answer the phone with next to no hold time and they are very knowledgeable, incredibly professional , and very good at explaining how things work. Hulu does cost a a few more dollars then TH-cam if you get the upgraded commercial free 200 hour cloud DVR serves.

I just turned in my equipment for Spectrum (a.k.a. Satan) and tried Hulu, Sling, and TH-cam Tv all at the same time. TH-cam TV was actually the last one I signed up for, but it’s by far my favorite!! Granted, they don’t have one of my favorite channels (A&E), but I found an app for that😂👍!! I didn’t watch Live PD when it was on anyway so I could avoid the commercials. I can still watch it after it has aired!! I love the platform!! I have binged on Law & Order all day long!!! Hulu doesn’t have the plain old Law & Order! They have some of the Criminal Intent and SVU, but I don’t watch those as much. TH-cam has the best channel lineup for the price, and you can go to a channel, pause it and wait to watch it so you can FF, or you can simply stream it from the beginning and still be able to FF through the commercials!! I went with TH-cam TV and LOVE IT!!!

I'm just starting the process to cut the cord. I pay $163 a month for Dish and they dropped HBO and not my price. I'm trying to decide between Hulu Live or TH-cam TV. I like the unlimited DVR and 3 streams you get with TH-cam. Both Hulu and TH-cam are priced at $50.00 a month. TH-cam also appears to have more local channels than Hulu.
We have an amazon prime account so we have access to Amazon video's also. We might include the upgraded HBO package.
I figure with internet fee, TH-cam TV or Hulu live with HBO added in, we will still be saving at least $50.00 a month, but if you don't include the internet cost, we would be saving $100.00.
Reading the bulk of the comments below it appears to me that TH-cam seems to be the clear choice.

YT has no A&E and History channels which is a deal breaker for me especially with the price increase. Will be staying with Hulu when NFL season starts. I only need Hulu for fall season shows. So, I am saving more money about 4-5 months a year w/o Hulu. I sure hope streaming channels will never require long term contracts. I enjoy being able to cancel and restart when I want w/o penalty.

What separates the two is the amount of content on Hulu. The only thing that separates TH-cam TV from the two is the DVR. Truth be told, however, you don't have to DVR too much on Hulu because darn near EVERYTHING (show related) is on demand on Hulu. Their collection of classic shows and cartoons is really hard to beat. As someone commented earlier, whoever adds the NFL Network (and possibly the Hallmark Channel) will be King of the Hill.

To those saying It's cheaper or better to return to cable tv , one of the biggest advantages to streaming Is freedom to leave or cancel every month , maybe some months you can't pay or wanna use money
elsewhere you never know , but you do know you can't do that with cable contracts. Also when you do cancel some of them hold on to your content for you at least a month , so If you return It will be there. You can pause TH-cam TV up to 6 months then return and your account Is exactly the same with all of your content how you left It.... can't beat that versatility. You may wish to update this informative comparison. As others have said, Hulu just raised their Live price to $60, and their "no commercials" upgrade is deceiving. There is plenty of DVR content that you still have to suffer through LONG commercial breaks (2-3+ minutes, 4-5 times in one show). They have problems with freezing and lag (no, it's not our internet connection). Ugh. Not worth the $. Gonna try YT.

I have HULU Live. I love it. I love the live tv and the streaming service of it for my kids. The only reason I am considering another service is because the walking dead is about to start and HULU does not have AMC. What makes it worse is they have some shows from AMC to stream like Fear the Walking Dead, but not the original. I don't know what to do honestly...

ezekiel2725 , how good it is depends on where you live. When you go through the signup process they ask for your zip code in order to show what channels are available in your area. Not the same for everyone. For me, it makes absolutely no sense to pay almost $50 mo for very little and quality channels. I’ve been using AppleTV for almost seven years and love it.

You shouldn't add thr cost of internet as that is something you are most likely going to have anyway. Did you have it when you had DTV? I did and it's from a different company. Even with the price increase, basic hulu and philo, it's still a lot less expensive than DTV.
AT&T is ruining DTV & DTVN. I have 2 weeks left of both, but don't use it any longer. I had DTV since 2004 and liked DTVN until things have been getting wonky because of a telephone company buying and running a TV business.
Now YTTV has many of the discovery channels, but philo stays for now.

  • @JeffreyWilliams

I've tried both services (Hulu w/Live TV and TH-cam TV) and, for me, it is no contest. The superior choice is TH-cam TV. Better interface, more of the channels I want (including AMC and BBC America ... yes, I'm a nerd, get over it), unlimited DVR with fast forward on most channels, as many streams as I need, and the TH-cam TV app works on Android TV devices, while only the basic Hulu app (without Live TV) works on Android TV. My TV box of choice is an Nvidia Shield TV (running Android TV), so no-brainer.
Having said that, I still like the basic Hulu (with ads), which I DO subscribe to in addition to my beloved TH-cam TV. I love some of their original programming and their extensive On Demand library. Hulu with ads' recent price reduction makes it an excellent fit to supplement TH-cam TV. And the Hulu with ads app runs on Android TV. Why, oh, why does Hulu with ads run on Android TV but Hulu with Live TV does not? Also, I subscribe to HBO on Hulu with ads, but the Hulu with ads' app on Android TV doesn't let me watch HBO via the Hulu with ads interface on Android TV. I have to use the HBO Now Android TV app and sign on via my Hulu credentials. Not a biggie, but c'mon, Hulu ... get your act together make your entire product line work on Android TV.

Well if you're old... TH-cam TV. My parents would never figure out HuluTV Live TV (much less Hulu...who the hell are these smart people at Hulu that can't figure out how to make an interface that is simple to use?) I had them on both and I got more support calls when they had Hulu. For me being youngish (54 years young and tech savvy, having most of my faculties, I may hate the Hulu interface, but it does have the most options. I don't need a DVR as I would use the back catalog most of the time. I hate commercials, so $10 for skipping commercials are worth it. Sports, I only like Rugby, so ESPN+ is what I would need for that. But really, Live TV? Really? Maybe it is being a cord cutter for 10+ years (I was using hacked Apple TV's back then and a mouse with a computer attached to my TV back then... what a pain) but when I go to visit my parents weekly I get to watch plenty of live tv. Today, on average there are 3 subscriptions per streaming household. We are going to see a bunch of new players like HBO Max, Peacock, Quibi and even a service by Discovery and BBC. We are going to have multiple major streaming services, all specialising in a certain type of content, while also offering substantial evergreen, mainstream movies and shows.

Hulu is sort of like Sling where by the time you finish adding in the basic stuff that come with TH-cam TV you’re actually paying over $60. They are equal. Both introduce their own approaches. What it boils down to is channels because that is why you are looking into these services to begin with.

Just went with TH-cam TV---adios, DirecTV. Price is higher than in this video and more channels have been added.

Are you ok with the price change to $65 a month?

I'm moving in a few days and the cable company won't install new outlets because of the shutdown. I'm forced to use Centurylink for internet and need a live TV alternative. I'm still more confused than ever.

The part that's confusing me is on TH-cam TV, if I go to any given show, there's an option to record it, and only then can I watch it in the future (after it's recorded), whereas on Hulu it appears to be available to watch instantly? But on Hulu I don't even see the option to record? So confused.

That'd be cool. Do you have a link to an official source? We'd love to see it.
