    For French people this is not a small apartment for a couple... It's a really comfy space for two... We just have different standards.

      It's also NOT a small apartment for a couple in Canada, especially in Vancouver or Toronto. My apartment in Toronto, for just me, is about 350 sq ft.. I think she knew she misspoke.

    • @georgensal
      @georgensal 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I guess is not a matter of standards, but of what one is used to....she mentioned also that she had been in smaller places , so this one wasn't that bad...and as a matter of fact, it's really nice, the outdoor space also makes one feel that there is another "room" to go to....

      northern_lights Canadian and American are very different. Canadian apartments, in Toronto and Vancouver especially, are not large.

    Why are you so defensive about your decor? It doesn't matter in the least bit. Show us the apt layout and interesting features like the charming back garden, fireplace, spiral staircase, pretty tile work in floor, little front courtyard, etc. We are not judging your creative talents, just looking inside a typical French apt.
    Thanks for the tour, lovely and large apartment!
    18:56 - Those are Andirons, always a pair. You put them in the fireplace to hold the wood logs for burning. They lift the logs off the ground, that is their function.
    19:01 - Those are African tribal bronze antelope masks, quite lovely and worth a bit.

      @Lass-in Angeles That is so funny that you commented on her being defensive. I kept fast forwarding as it seemed to be a long rant on negatives. I thought the apartment was fab. Having two outside courtyards - great! The drama colored dark accent wall - loved it. The windows - so pretty. The kitchen - great size & cute. The living room, bedroom & bathroom - wowza.
      The street - heavenly.
      That extra back enclosed building space - I would have used that to toss the small sofa in & went to one of the LARGE FLEA MARKETS they have in France immediatement & purchased a used larger couch for nearly nothing to use for six months....if it mattered much to moi.
      I honestly thought that she was just filming to show the condition of the place on film that they left it in as proof that they did not damage anything to get any security deposit back because she was not a happy camper. Falling down the stairs could have been avoided if she did not wear her shoes, held the rail & took her time...it is not a surprise they are there unless she has daily amnesia.
      One of my goals: not to be or turn into a grumpy fart, but to enjoy what I've got.
      C'est la vie. ☺

    Lovely video, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing a genuine French apartment. I love interior design, so different homes and decor are always interesting. This is a lovely apt, even with Wilson, bamboo, and a green patio (part of the charm)....But what broke my heart to hear is that you didn't have the heat working in the most crucial time of need!! WINTER -10°--my goodness! That's HORRIBLE!
    But other than that, it sounds like a neat little town. Loved the apt tour you gave. Thank you!

    Omigoodness love the apartment! As far as the heating issues go I would probably invest in a portable radiant heater, but I found it absolutely charming - I could picture myself entertaining guests on the patio or having coffee or tea & visiting with the birds that live in the area
    Thx so much for sharing it was one of the nicest apartment tours I've been on so far & good luck & best wishes for your next move.

    I loved the apartment tour and how cute it is. I lived there being a little girl. A lot of the French settled in lousiana which is where I’m from and have European in my blood. I jist started wanting to design with Parisian flair. I love how the women that’s in fashion dress effortless. Their face is not beat they just put a red lipstick jeans and a white blouse and they look gorgeous. It’s kind of the same with design at the places. It’s like everything is not perfect but yet beautiful to me. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏽👌🏾♥️

However, as a viewer, it was a bit annoying to hear the listing of its shortcomings when I was here to drink in the beauty of this fortuitous find. And mostly, that is why your viewers are here. To see something inspiring. It really was truly atmospheric and a shame that it was punctuated by some of your comments. No worries. But I do find the place romantic and pretty. Kinda reminds me of the good old times. Yes, there are "loopholes" on the decors / or the color scheme, and the smallness but yeah, it is a pretty place. I could actually imagine myself living in it. Haha! I just stumbled upon this video, and yeah I liked it.

    That’s an old porta potty or chamber. Those stairs are common in France. My brother lives in Vilneuve D’asq near the Flemish border. He had the same exact stairs. We had our toddler with us and had to really be careful. I myself had to be even more careful. I think BC space is at a premium this type of spiral staircase is inexpensive.

    I thought this was a great tour and I liked the warts and all. It’s obvious that you loved and appreciated the house but also presented a realistic perspective. Refreshing after so many #blessed type of videos. 🤮. I was in Fontainebleau last year at Insead and walked around desperate to see what the houses looked like inside so this was great.
    I think those little things at the bottom of the upstairs fireplace might be to wipe the dirt off your shoes?

    Well, over all it's quite lovely and charming though what I call "Funky" because it's not perfect and has it's drawbacks. Could be worst though! Love the backyard and have French cafe chairs like that myself on my deck here in New England not far from the beach. Also have navy couches from IKEA, where else? And recognize those little plants which I also have, small world! Love the cross beams and yes, glad they didn't paint them white. Once lived in an antique house built in 1850 and had to go through the same thing with hangers in a closet...one of the problems of older homes with limited closets/storage. Why they invented armoires! So what did you do for heat that first cold winter? Our antique house had three fireplaces all boarded up! Now I have an electric fireplace which looks real that gives off heat...remember that if and when you live with no fireplaces, they also add not only warmth, but charm as well! Can't live without fireplaces/heat when you live in the north! Merci for sharing and bon chance!

      @AndreaClare  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      certianly could have been worse! I really loved that place - so cute! As far as the heating - We only showered every few days and we had to buy a small plug in heater and extra blankets to keep it comfortable! haha but it was all part of the adventure! :) It was terrible at the time but now it's fun to look back on :)

    Nice .. I wish you focus more into the character of the building and not too much on the interior “stuff”. I can understand the decoration is not going to fit to your personal taste, this would be normal considering you moved into a somewhat furnished apartment. Maybe you can make more videos of the neighborhood.

    Ahhh! I know this video is a bit old but I love this place so much! How far outside of Paris is it? I’ve been looking at apartments in the city but I feel like I’d like a bigger place in a small town even if there’s a bit of a commute

    • @AndreaClare
      @AndreaClare  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's in a tiny town called Fontainebleau - about 40 minutes by train from Paris. A lot of people commute from Fonty to Paris everyday :)

    The building looks like it's between two other buildings, so there can only be Windows on either end of the apartments. I find it funny you were complaining about the windows in the apartment above you. If there were no windows, there would literally be no natural light in the apartment above you. So the Windows are necessary, hon, lol. You have a garden and you're complaining about the Windows above you, lol. No hate. I just find it interesting.
