Love your work Andy! I love these, I use them myself. The custom Savox servos are silky smooth with no low resolution "stepping" and the tilt servo at maximum tilt up is actually looking straight up due to the lens fov angle, low level inverted looking "up" at the ground is cool lol Great review :)
If you have Radiomaster let us no if you got it working. I'd like to use buy seems we cant on Radiomaster t16s even adapter didn't work. If you got yours working please let me no. I'd like not to have to return mine.
I'd be cool if they made a more compact tilt only unit that would fit in a standard drone camera location (to keep it protected) that's controlled by the accelerometer and gyro. Imagine when your just hovering or slowly crusing/exploring that the camera remains at 0-5° of up tilt and as you accelerate forward the camera proportionally increases its tilt, maintaining optimal camera angle, to 30° plus. I bet you could keep the unit very compact and simple by just using a half or quarter gear attached to the camera tilt mechanism and a tiny geared 5v brushed motor to drive the motion. You may need to incorporate a tiny tilt sensor and processor circuit to calculate and adjust the tilt angle at a high enough cycle rate to keep the system working fast enough for it to be enjoyable.
@@AndyRCchannel DJI drones like the Mavic Pro use that kind of camera stabilization. The only reason it works is because they have a pretty hefty flight controller that's actually flying the drone - the human just tells it what direction to go. It's great for video capture, but less fun to fly.

Awesome. Could you (or did you already?) make a video on how to set up the head tracker? I have an fpv set with Caddx polar on an rc car (just with one axis rotation using a servo), but I’d like to hook it up to a head tracker. :-)
You can mount the other HD cameras quite easily. Just need to drill a little screw hole 6mm above existing one to anchor tilt gear screw. That’s it. Not beyond the ability of most hobbyists.
What do you do to power the camera? I want to get this but that is the only thing I can’t figure out. The diagram on their website confuses me too, and I’m not sure what to do.
This looks like a very sexy solution! Might get me into HT usage (again) Last time I used a HT was in 2009 I think ;) I tried it on a copter once which is super confusing and unneccesary. On a plane however - very nice. Had this slow massive styrofoam diy plane back then wich was a pusher, top wing trainer - super slow and stable - was like looking out of a blimp - great visibility too (but of course with very ugly cam quality back then... greets, Mario
Mario, if you would like one to review, please let me know. It’s designed to be a quick install for scale warbirds and EDF jets with foam canopy hatch. An easy way to enjoy scale HT flying from cockpit.
Looks like a nice solution. Think putting it on a quad copter (3:50) might be more interesting experience than expected, unless flying is a stabilized mode. At least for me. 😂 Maybe less daunting to keep quad level, if quad was using INAV, and could put into position hold. This could be fun.:)

@@AndyRCchannel thanks Andy. well I have the tx16s and dji remote, so do I need a install a crossfire, and in this case which RX to be used with the tx16s. For dji TX i think it is another story, I am not sure if it could be binded to certain rx. I just got it ready binded to an hglrc cinewhoop and since then I didn't need to do anything. It came with an extra dji air unit that I would like now to use on fixed wing model, but not sure how the control surface 6 channels of the aircraft would be connected to the dji tx. Thanks.

You noticed any draft with this headtracker. Mine seems to drift right or left when panning. Like when I stop moving my head the pan will continue a bit more before stopping. Also how did you center pan? Sub trim or ppm center ??? Thanks.
If you watch my ultimate rc plane video it explains how to do that. Are you getting centre drift with the goggles on the ground? U will get that with the goggles on the ground

@@motionsic they are 2mm screw size and 6mm apart , the issue could be the height of the unit, the bottom lens is the FPV one and there may not be much down tilt available, even if it fits ok. also the runcam is about 19.5mm wide

You can't really do it on cars as car controllers are too limited in other words their trainer ports can only be used as an output and not an input. But there is a couple of ways around it.. I'll be showing that but it's not easy

Thanks for the reply my freind, I flew my old 1.5 meter eflite Timber that ive had for yrs and flying analog fpv with but have switched out with caddax air unit and dji v2 goggles and flew my first ever flight with HD 3/20/22 and WOW!!! I love it!!! Will convert my old SU-26 next.

Plus it's not entirely compatible with Radiomaster t16s Mk1 without heavy mods to radio. If I'm going that route I'd just build the entire system myself for 1/4 the price. I'm hoping I can be proved wrong that it can actually work with Radiomaster t16s hall Mk1 hardwire or other but I sure haven't seen this happen yet.
$90 (assuming US) for molded parts plus servos, all the design and engineering already done, sounds cheaper then the time and parts to print my own. Price will drop if it makes consistent sales, expect it to be cloned pretty quickly by companies that ignore intellectual property rights.

That's been done before and it makes for a confusing flight experience. It's an option in betaflight

Looks very well made and seems to work great Andy. The only thing stopping me from buying one is the cam mount, pitty it did not fit other HD cameras.

Spektrum doesn't have enough range to fly the planes fpv

Yes, AirUnit is actually a bit easier to do.
