The Foreign Legion has been in the news recently and even the state Ukrainian media now can't ignore the allegations made.
It isn't all sunshine and rainbows.
Foreign Fighters have been a large talking point throughout the Russia and Ukrainian War as some say they're foreign fighters fighting for Independence and freedoms and others will say they're hired Mercenaries with some facing the death penalty in Russia and Russian Backed Donetsk Peoples Republic.

I recommend reading the classic WWII satire Catch - 22 by Joseph Heller. There's a character in there called Milo. He's an Air Force mess officer who capitalizes on the war to profit and enrich himself all the while styling himself as a patriot. He even does business with the Germans - I recall one chapter where he sold extra bombs to the allies for one mission to bomb some bridge - all the while having sold anti-aircraft munitions to the Germans defending that very bridge - getting a bonus for each allied aircraft shot down.
The author himself was a WWII veteran in the air force. It's hilarious as it is tragic.

@Legitpenguins99 my wife was born in Ukraine. I was there many times, since 2005. Corruption is a real problem in Ukraine. Do you really think that all the money that we are giving to Zelensky's regime is used to fight Russia? In the first line, ukrainians are always without stuff, while some ukrainians are around Europe driving BMW, Mercedes, and
Bentley and they are buying villas. How is it possible? I have my personal view. Corruption is blind and without heart. Our governments in Europe are simply crazy. They started a war against Russia, and now our economy collapses. They were able to grow up costs for energy and taxes and to open our countries to the risk of an atomic holocaust. That's insane. In the USA, people should learn something about Biden son's presence. Nobody can start a business there without accepting the corruption, like the official system. 1.) Even in US command, stealing from other units to supply your own units (to fight with stolen equipment further on) in war conditions was not uncommon.
2.) This person assumes tha Ukrainians mostly steal to sell for money, not because they want their platoon to have the best equipment.
3.) Stealing from the armoury; yes, this is how many armies & cultures in the East Europe work - Russians are WAY worse.
4.) Some commanders of the Ukrainian army are dogshit - similar story in many other armies, especially Eastern European armies.
Where is this "unknown Ukraine Foreign Legion figher" from (which country, where did he serve/ work, so we can see what he's "accustomed" to, etc...)
I'm glad this is talked about, but the lack of a complete picture CAN paint a wrong picture to masses of amateurs, who are not aware how even actual developed (NATO) armies often work under pressure & in the field.

      I have few questions..
How does a country that is neighbour to one of world nuclear power, goes from being PRO Russian to Anti Russian in just one day?
How does a country with more then 40 million people elects a COMEDIAN with no political experience at all? How is that even possible? Elects a guy that is leading them into war with Russia? No matter the coast, that war should have been avoided, it is basically a doom for Ukraine, anybody that loves Ukraine wouldn't lead it into war with Russia, who would in their sane mind go to war with Russia. Not to mention that your two countries are bordering each other.
Americans waging war in middle east is nothing to compare to this, there were no wars on American soil recently, but America fought all the wars there were on international level.
That is the point, USA wants every other country in the world to fight each other, so the war doesn't come to their soil.
And while others are fighting, guess who will sell arms and ammo to both sides often.
Who is buying Russian gas for normal prices and then selling it to Europe for 2 or 3 times more?
This is just a roleplay game between few leading people in the world, and the ones who get hurt are ordinary people.
Ordinary people who elected a comedian and fell to American influence to go to war with Russia.
Its unbelievable what the media is doing, Maidan coup, how it all happened with just few people, but the power of Media has gone to insane levels nowadays.
That is so American, divide and conquer is their role model.

In Canada, for example, a functioning democracy with apparently no or little corruption, the $20m gathered through crowdfunding in support of the truckers is still being withheld illegally by the government a year later, and the peaceful protests itself was dispersed violently with guns. Also guns were planted by RCMP at Coutts , Alberta to discredit the protest movement. Corruption is a sin known to us all. So let’s be humble

@@jarryan2136 Sorry, but this is simply not true. I have heard probably hundreds of people talk about their experiences in combat from different nations and different wars. Quite a few of them face-to-face. And my personal conclusion is that different people deal with their experiences very differently. Some talk about it in a very light, almost comical way, while others are obviously still distressed. Still others refuse to talk about it at all. There is absolutely no way that you could tell if someone has actually been in combat just by hearing them talk about it. Now, that is not to say that there aren't people out there who boast of things they never did or saw. But you cannot tell by how they breathe or talk.

It’s not just Amnesty International that have levelled charges against the Ukrainian army. The UN investigation of charges of torture by the Ukraine army on the people of Donbass following the 2014 NATO sponsored coup, documented over 3000 reports of ordinary citizens being able to show credible evidence. Add to that reports where Patrick Lancaster went close to the front line and interviewed many survivors from the 2014 coup and the second phase in 2022.

I see now that this clip is 4 months old and during that period the Russian commanders left most of the fighting to the Ukrainian militia forces fighting the regime for pure survival. Like the Luhansk and Donetsk militias. They were armed by Russia with heavy weapons and tanks. To be able to fight on equal terms, 100% volunteers of course who refused to give up their lands or lives for the Ukrainian ultra national regime. Banning all rival political parties and throwing their leaders in jail, banning all non state owned and approved media and creating a law banning the Russian language is not something I would volunteer fighting for. On the contrary, fascist states aiming to kill everyone they see as "subhuman" must be destroyed, exactly like when it came from Germany.

I just got back and trust me don’t go. The Ukraine FL and other units will use you as cannon fodder. Based on no intel, no reports, no backup, no armour, no tactical response. It’s about walking in a straight line until you fall. That’s what they expect. More planned ops, run by the SF guys from the states is what is needed. Those guys you can learn so much from. Elon Musk spent hundreds of millions of his own money , but as soon he said something about peace talks he became the enemy . you help them and theyll come next time looking at it that your help is granted . the next time try not to give it to them ... they were given 50% of soviet black sea fleet . they had 2800 military planes and in cruise missiles they were 2nd in the world behind the us only . they sold all of it . they dont even have a fleet ( ramming rc seadoos with explosives into docked ships like its going to change something ) . So they sold everything soviet what they inherited and when russia stopped giving theyre the enemy . i feel bad for the guys that are forcibly brought there and how much they lie to you on western tv about bucha , about personnel count ( kia) , how they shoot down 10 kinzhals ( never was intercepted , not once ... missiles half of kinzhal speed were never intercepted by patriot like soviet kh22 for example ) . if you are a soldier youre a piece of meat . in russia youre steak bone , in america youre a fillet minion and in ukraine youre rotted pork chop .. theres no difference , still meat .. military of any country use you and spit you out to suffer the rest of your life , thats why in the usa by official statistic 22 of the vets kill themselves or 1 every 67 minutes in average i believe . and if youre a soldier ( whatever side or a cause youre fighting for nowadays ) if theres no children of politicians with you in the trenches , then its not a war , its business plain and simple ...

Surely, you and other "flerfs" not only have been to "The Edge" many times, but probably have extremely lucrative travel agencies, you know, specializing in offering only this very thrilling adventure, uh? -- I mean, since no one else does. The mindset is way different between russ and Ukrainians - Ukrainians are great farmers, cultivators, they are way more in tune with nature and the people.
russians on other hand... well I'd rather not comment. Just the fact they bought the 'denazification argument' shows how poor the education in russia is. Free speech is non existent and freedom of expression goes as far as it serves the country interest.
I've been to Ukraine for entirety of May, also imterviewed the Legion, some foreign soldiers, some volunteers - corruption is an issue, yet the effort volunteers put in is literally INSANE. I know guys who on their own money drove back and forth to Odesa, Adiivka and Donbas to resupply civilians and aid with rescues. I'd love to see how russians would fight and endure such pressure.

hello from France, I guess all armies are the same all over the world when it comes to people in charge of guns and equipment, there is always one starting a black market on the side and stealing all kinds of stuff to sell them to whoever wants it. It doesn't mean that all Ukrainian officers are thieves and the all army is corrupt. On the battle side comments, the same applies in all armies, not all commanders are efficient on the ground, some might have never seen a battleground before February, your rank isn't a guarantee that you are good in tactics or even just managing units on the ground. A high-ranking officer can be good while in charge of the logistics for a full regiment, food, clothing, bedding and so on, it doesn't mean that in time of war he can't be sent to the front to command units, I would hardly trust him in terms of tactics. Some Russian officers seem to have been killed by their own troops because they were useless and didn't care about their own guys, shit like that also happens everywhere in the world during wars, the one Ukrainian officer stealing guns might face the same fate one day. Keep on the good work, thanks to both of you.

    • @kevinjohnson9533
      @kevinjohnson9533 2 ปีที่แล้ว

The problem is that the heavy arms flows into Ukraine and their entrance into the black market means these weapons are now reportely ending up in conflict zones in the Middle East and Africa . Too these weapons in Ukraine and larger Europe are going to be in the hands of the right wing white nationalists loons who may use these weapons to terrorize Europe. Guns , anti tank missiles, etc are easily transportable in a car boot. If you think the Americans take a responsible view of how this will play out, think again.

@@kevinjohnson9533 hey from France I understand what you say, the same AK 47 in Africa might have been used from Angola to Mozambique, stopping in Rhodesia at a certain point, then moved up to East and Central Africa 20, 30 years later. When you say that the weapons have been "reportedly " ending in different countries, have you seen any evidence of that? At some point, people were saying that these weapons were sold to Russia but nobody has shown proof of that. When we were in Lebanon in 1978 within the UN troops, we were used to buying weapons from basic groceries or just by asking a policeman in the street if he wanted to sell his own gun, everything was available and it had nothing to do with the "black market", it was done in the open, kind of part of the culture, that's it. We fixed and "borrowed" an M113 in Tyr, painted the vehicle in white with UN in blue on the side, mounted one of our machine-gun on top of it, used it down south of Lebanon for 6 months... it helped us a lot to "ease up" some conflicts peacefully. Unfortunately, nowadays, you'll find AKs, coming from Eastern Europe years before this war started, in the hands of gang members/drugs dealers ( not right-wing nationalists) in some of our cities, they use them to shoot each other over drugs territories and scare the police if they dare coming in their neighbourhood. Don't put the blame on the US only, weapons are coming from so many countries, and there are more Russian or Chineese made weapons on the black market than American, French or German ones, by far.

What will happen if Russia declares a state of war and mobilization of the first degree, indicating that no embargo can destroy it, the Russian Federation is able to survive the most imminent nuclear war and to continue the fight. It is totally independent energetically, it is a big country and it is economically independent, it has huge quantities of fuel, oil, gas, coal in reserve, huge iron factories, nuclear power plants, thousands of gigantic factories, hundreds of gigantic iron factories. The hypersonic missiles they have are ahead of the West for a hundred years. The most unfortunate thing is that the media of the Western world lie so much that it is a crime, that's why the young people go to Ukraine to die, both those with and without military experience, to be sent to their deaths in Ukraine by various dubious types of commanders without the slightest knowledge of war. Such commanders are not benefited by any victory, but by filling their own pockets with millions and when the moment comes, they will disappear in the USA and there he will be presented as a guest hero at the universities and talk about the fight against the terrible Russians, and the place to answer that he sent thousands of people to their deaths and stole everything he could, everything the west sent that was valuable. Those in command have enormous ignorance and the ego is even bigger, the biggest thief and it's like that from corporal to general. They don't value the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, let alone foreign volunteers or mercenaries, such people are sent directly to their deaths.

One particular was a group of 8 English speakers mostly Brits and Americans mixed with a couple of Swedes. The guys that were able to escape tell of the nightmare they experienced. They were sent to guard a air port and they were only given a single AK with 3 mags, 4 handguns and no kit to hold off a Russian assault 🤦‍♂️

It's funny to hear arguments that if there is corruption in Ukraine (which the author personally encountered), then in Russia it is much more (which the author has not encountered, but draws conclusions only because he wants to).
Why would? I worked in real estate for many years, both there and there. And I will say this - in Russia there is much more order, and much less corruption. I am sure that this rule applies to all other areas.
By the way, the author allows himself to make many arguments based on nothing. These are personal judgments, generated by the propaganda that I hear every day, and not personal experience.

check out a few interviews by Lindsey Snell on the same subject, who receives a lot of hate for reporting this other side (nobody said it's impartial to focus on that), however it needs talking about. Aid distribution and corruption in Ukraine sounds horrific and there is a very loose grip on democracy there right now, silencing anyone who speaks on these issues. It is quite sickening really... this issue needs solving ASAP and imagine one thing if you think people support russia when giving this opinion, imagine you joined your own country's armed forces, and they made you fight using your own vehicle and body armour, and all expenses and repairs were your responsibility? Where did these billions go to help people drive cheap 4x4 civilian vehicles on the frontline, that they don't have to buy THEMSELVES. Credits for covering this, it needs widely discussing ASAP....
