Do the declutter before you buy any organization containers . Sometimes you have extra kitchen containers that will work well in another area . You can use cheap or free containers to see if the organization system is going to work then upgrade to nicer containers later on.
When buying velvet coated hangers be cautious of dollar tree ones. I had black ones, and I hang numerous tops to dry on hangers instead of the dryer. The dye on the cheaper hangers can rub off on your wet or damp clothes. Buy the better quality.
I won't buy velvet hangers because I don't want that fluffy stuff rubbing off all over the place. I would rather get the thin hangers of a similar design with rubberized shoulders which also helps keep clothes from sliding off.
When I was young I automatically bought new containers/baskets if I thought I needed them. Nowadays I repurpose old containers/baskets or decorate an Amazon box w/contact paper.
We built our own home. But we built it without BIG walk in closets. Now, I can’t hoard. 😮😊 Also, don’t use cardboard boxes for storage. It attracts bugs. 😬 Love your video !
Hey Girl , thanks for that ten dollar budget. I started with $20. Went to $10. Today I put back like 4 items and I was blessed to spent $7.00. Did not miss the other items. You’re right 😮 don’t be bullied.
Declutter first! Then organize what remains. If something comes into the house, something needs to leave. This has helped me more than anything...and I'm a quilter with a stash😂😂😂 Buy new shoes..donate a pair. Something comes in, something goes out. Doesn't have to be the same thing, but something has to go. Organizing before decluttering just hides the real problem.
@@kathrynboseman5249 lol I too am a quilter. I use to work at a major fabric store, and got sale and clearance fabric pennies on the dollar. At one time I had my stash in black lock top garbage cans. Lol. So I know what you are saying.

I loved 🥰 your video, and how you were able to keep it within a budget. It makes a big difference. Trust me. Nowadays everything is so expensive. That if you don’t have enough change, you cant make your purchase. Back in the day, the dollar bill 💵 was worth more, that if you didn’t have enough change, the cashiers would let you slide. The 3 mirrors painted above laundry area... I did same thing but red, lime green and blue in kitchen where I have 4 mixed chairs painted samish for a mexican themed room!!
I've rescued several things from my neighbors usually the night before trash pickup. When I lived in Northwest Montana everyone took everything to the dump. As an unwritten rule, you would dump trash in the dumpster and stuff that could be reused by someone was left to the side. I got a full set of nice China, a beautiful king size Christmas quilt and other great stuff during the 5 years I lived there. Sadly some of the dumps were encouraging people to stop this practice around the time I left in 2011.
I actually use those little lucite bins for jewelry, they work great and stack nicely in shallow drawers. I find 3 packs of the smaller ones all the time at HomeGoods, Marshall's and TJMaxx,
I'm happy now that I have a lot less shoes & clothes. I know I can mix and match the clothes and shoes I've kept. Keeping things ORGANIZED means for me to keep it SIMPLE. 😊🎉
If you are like me, I have lots of clothes mainly because while I may buy something that fits, I didn’t clear out the clothes that I didn’t wear because they weren’t comfortable, or whatever. Same with shoes - it hurt to get rid of a pair of shoes even when I refused to wear them. I am getting better but there is still plenty of room to improve
Others here mention decluttering first, and i cannot AGREE enough! Id also add, if you have something at home, even a cardboard box that seems to be a good size for some area, try tht out first! 🥰 Once you SEE that it works the way you like, THEN go putchase something of better quality that fits the same space and works better or more long term! Saves so much money 🤗💕 i hope that is helpful!! Good luck all!!
I looked at my closet space and kitchen drawers and cabinets. I figured out what would fit in my space bought organizers and/or totes and what fits in the organizers or totes stays. If it doesn’t fit then it goes. You need to decide what works for you to stay organized. Do you like things on kitchen counter or nothing on your kitchen counter. Number one rule - a place for everything and put everything its place when done using it. I don’t do cardboard totes but I do use cardboard kitchen organizers. The type of organizer you use will depend on where you live. Snowy blizzard areas might need a different organizer material than in a tropical climate.

I needed bedside organization. I found a oblong rectangle basket & a tissue holder cube that fit in it perfectly. The cube divides it into thirds. Glasses, pen & pencil, note tablet & light switch in front. A sturdy clear plastic sheet over the tissues to hold Clock on top of tissues. The rear has emergency flashlight & misc. items. The nightstand is less than half covered! All from 2 items I found for $4. total...
We bought a steel 3 high shelving for all our beverages. It said on there that it can safely hold 600 lbs. I don’t mind paying a little more to have something that lasts forever. And it was from the container store.
I recently bought those hangers and I love them! I changed out all of our clothes except my husband’s work clothes which tend to be heavier. I haven’t done the kids’ yet but plan on it.
