Utah thinks it's unfair to call legitimate penalties on them if they might win? Utah's #6 defense STILL had 50+ yards and a favorable clock to stop BYU from scoring at the end. Where were they? Utah's offense scored ZERO points in the second half. The AD goes ballistic? Head coach throws a chair? Stolen? Hardly! Quit yer whining!
I wouldn't classify a team as playing "lights out" when they get shut out the 2nd half which included multiple drives starting at midfield. But Utah wants to make it all about one play. They're the biggest bunch of sore losers that ever lost.
The "human factor" in football rankings and match outcomes is indeed a significant consideration. While statistics provide a quantitative basis for assessing team performance-such as win-loss records, points scored, and defensive metrics-they often fail to capture the nuances of human behavior and situational dynamics. Here are several ways the human factor influences rankings and results: 1. **Player Performance Variability**: Individual players can have off days or exceptional performances that statistics alone do not predict. Factors such as fatigue, injuries, or personal issues can affect a player's performance dramatically. 2. **Team Dynamics**: The chemistry among players, coaching strategies, and morale within a team can significantly influence outcomes. A well-motivated team may outperform a statistically stronger opponent due to better teamwork and cohesion. 3. **Psychological Factors**: Pressure, confidence, and mental toughness can dictate how players perform in critical moments. Teams often react differently to high-stakes situations, which can lead to unexpected results. 4. **Coaching Decisions**: Game strategy and in-game adjustments made by coaches can have a profound impact. A well-timed substitution or a strategic change can turn the tide of a match, regardless of prior statistics. 5. **Environmental Factors**: Conditions such as weather, field type, and home-field advantage can affect performance. A team may excel in certain conditions that do not align with their statistical profile. 6. **Rivalries and Motivation**: The emotional stakes of a rivalry game can elevate a team's performance beyond what metrics would suggest. Players often rise to the occasion in such scenarios. 7. **Injuries and Rotations**: The availability of key players can fluctuate, altering a team's capabilities from one match to another, which statistics may not immediately reflect. In summary, while data and statistics provide a useful framework for analyzing football teams, the human factor introduces a level of unpredictability that can lead to surprising outcomes. Rankings that rely solely on statistics may overlook these crucial elements, making it essential to consider the qualitative aspects of the game to gain a fuller understanding of team performance.
Only thing "disgusting" was the blatant and extended hold on Phillips and the thought shared by coach and AD. Disgusting attitude and a disgusting way to represent your school... A bunch of entitled sore losers.
I don’t think I have ever been more mad at a call then that face mask, if the ref doesn’t see his hand on his mask, you never should call it, nothing else to it. So it’s saying you see something that literally didn’t happen, I’m glad they made up for it at the end with a well deserved holding call.
@ I’ve seen plenty of late game missed penalties because they “let the players play” but the ref who threw the flag stood on business, Ik there are refs out there who won’t throw the flag there, so I’m just saying I can call it even
@@heat_faze9354 I'm just saying, well the word is karma, and karma would be if the refs made a bogus call at the end against the Utes that didn't happen. But since it did, it's not really karma.
Check out Utah's defender #73 flipping off the head ref @6:16. That is unacceptable behavior, and merits disciplinary reaction. Players and coaches have to maintain a certain level of respect for the refs.
This rivalry game, you have to play fair but that's not always the case with any team. BYU has to play fair or there's consequences for everyone worse than getting fired. This was a must win game Kylie Wittingham needed to win. The officials did their best to keep players safe. They were great.
I guess now we know why the lake is so salty 😂
best comment, I'm going to use the line
Been salty since "Jordan pushed off"

Wow! What a win for BYU, and that music… Wow!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, the AD givin' business on the field and on the mic, and then no. 73 flipping off the ref. Such a bad look for Utah
Ute here. This AD needs to be fired. Embarrassing.
Love this end of game highlight. Thanks!

how's it making up for it? the face mask didn't happen, the holding call DID happen. making up for it would be calling a bogus call against Utah.

Unreal. Trashiest program in sports. Top to bottom.
We are seeing the downfall of Utah football. Since they lost to pedo state in the rose bowl. Congrats to BYU.
God is on the side of Utah.
