    This rivalry game, you have to play fair but that's not always the case with any team. BYU has to play fair or there's consequences for everyone worse than getting fired. This was a must win game Kylie Wittingham needed to win. The officials did their best to keep players safe. They were great.

    If that call come with 6 minutes left in the game...there is probably none of this drama. Point is call was coming at no matter what point the clock was at. Obvious foul right in front of the referee. If the situation was reversed I know BYU would be just as pissed off and mad but I hope we would've handled differently. I know years ago fans at the Y threw trash at the refs and that was classless. But Utah next time score a point or 6 after halftime and stop the team from going downfield 55 yards to score a field goal and you'll be alright!!!...Go Cougs..

      The "human factor" in football rankings and match outcomes is indeed a significant consideration. While statistics provide a quantitative basis for assessing team performance-such as win-loss records, points scored, and defensive metrics-they often fail to capture the nuances of human behavior and situational dynamics. Here are several ways the human factor influences rankings and results: 1. **Player Performance Variability**: Individual players can have off days or exceptional performances that statistics alone do not predict. Factors such as fatigue, injuries, or personal issues can affect a player's performance dramatically. 2. **Team Dynamics**: The chemistry among players, coaching strategies, and morale within a team can significantly influence outcomes. A well-motivated team may outperform a statistically stronger opponent due to better teamwork and cohesion. 3. **Psychological Factors**: Pressure, confidence, and mental toughness can dictate how players perform in critical moments. Teams often react differently to high-stakes situations, which can lead to unexpected results. 4. **Coaching Decisions**: Game strategy and in-game adjustments made by coaches can have a profound impact. A well-timed substitution or a strategic change can turn the tide of a match, regardless of prior statistics. 5. **Environmental Factors**: Conditions such as weather, field type, and home-field advantage can affect performance. A team may excel in certain conditions that do not align with their statistical profile. 6. **Rivalries and Motivation**: The emotional stakes of a rivalry game can elevate a team's performance beyond what metrics would suggest. Players often rise to the occasion in such scenarios. 7. **Injuries and Rotations**: The availability of key players can fluctuate, altering a team's capabilities from one match to another, which statistics may not immediately reflect. In summary, while data and statistics provide a useful framework for analyzing football teams, the human factor introduces a level of unpredictability that can lead to surprising outcomes. Rankings that rely solely on statistics may overlook these crucial elements, making it essential to consider the qualitative aspects of the game to gain a fuller understanding of team performance.

    Former NFL referee and current NBC rules analyst Terry McAulay called the play an "obvious foul." McAulay spent 20 years in the NFL as an official. After his refereeing career, he transitioned into broadcasting with NBC Sports. He serves as the NBC rules analyst for Sunday Night Football, Notre Dame football games, and in other smaller capacities like Big Ten Saturday Night. McAulay said, "It’s a foul. It’s always been a foul and it will always be a foul regardless of game, time, score, or situation."

    • @domin8ss
      @domin8ss 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      It wasn't a foul all game, had no impact on the play, and the head referee has a history going back to the PAC-12 whom fired him because he was horrible at his job.

    • @rockharvey5787
      @rockharvey5787 5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @ Here’s what Terry (again a 20-year veteran NFL ref and professional NCAA football rules expert) said about the claim it was happening all game: “I’ve looked at every pass play in the entire game. Every complete route on the all-22. Nothing even remotely close to defensive holding occurred against either team. Nothing anywhere near the level of material restriction that occurred on the play in question. I think people are making this up.” And BTW it did affect the play, the fouled receiver was the intended receiver for the play.

    • @domin8ss
      @domin8ss 5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @rockharvey5787 He was never detained. Go watch the play. Joel Klatt and Jomboy Media break this down. The "hold" was when the receiver decided to get off the line of scrimmage and start running up field. The defenders hand went on his back. Because the ball was never thrown, they couldn't call pass interference. Besides, the defensive line got to Retzlaff too quickly for him to set his feet and attempt a pass. He's lucky the call wasn't a safety because it sure looked like that ball crossed the line to the end zone when he was tackled.

    shameful on the part of the Utes athletic director. He should be fired. Their coach didn't behave any better. Just because you're frustrated that your year hasn't gone well is no excuse for that kind of poor sportsmanship. It's no wonder the Ute's fan base are equally poor sports. They have no one to blame but themselves for the loss. No second half defense, no second half offense. One quarter of football seldom wins games. Show some class. Take the loss with a hint of dignity. I have been a long time Ute fan but this just turned me away.

    • @domin8ss
      @domin8ss 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Coach Whitt didn't do anything wrong. The head referee of the game has a history that includes being fired by the PAC-12. Were the AD's actions appropriate? No. Was he correct? Quit possibly. Go look up the videos on this from Joel Klatt and Jomboy Media.

      @Utes93 On the one hand, I'm not sure you're right about that, but even supposing that in fact it wasn't reviewed at the time of the actual play (and if that were the case it would be VERY STRANGE INDEED that if it was such a bad call at such a critical point in the game, that the Utah coach wouldn't have challenged it.... that in and of itself makes it appear that he realized that it wasn't really a disputable call), but let's give you the benefit of the doubt and say that it wasn't reviewed and the coach didn't challenge it because maybe he was just so much in shock that he didn't react in time.... in any case, it's been looked at carefully since then, due to the controversy and all the insinuations, and the consensus has been that it was a good call, to the point that even a lot of Utah fans have posted that they recognize that it was in fact a clearly legitimate call, even though it came at a moment that certainly was NOT convenient for the Utes.... nevertheless, those are the rules and it was a correct call, and had it been a call that favored your Utes, YOU'D HAVE NO PROBLEM AT ALL WITH IT! Second, the kid that was arrested for throwing the bottle is not a Utah fan. His dad is, and it was his dad that turned him into the police. Third, the head referee of the game is a disgraced former referee from the PAC-12 with a long history of making bad calls. And, fourth, the Big 12 conference screwed up by allowing former PAC-12 referees officiate games involving Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and Arizona State. The impartiality of officiating was compromised in this game, and it's now proven.
