GREAT PERFECT video for us folks just coming to HH, and/or havent played a GW army game ever or in so long it may as well been never. Thank you. This really helps in trying to figure out what to make and do. It seems like a solid all around starting point for an army, if you have no clue exactly what you wanna do and are clueless. Great job. Very appreciated.
You could also convert one of the Cataphractii terminatosr to be your Praetor, and have him ride with the rest of the terminators. And use the two Preator models as Consuls (many options there!) And you could use the spare bits from the sergeant upgrade sprue with your leftover marines to make Veteran Tactical squad, for close combat.
Very nice - one small suggestion is to put the suggested list/build in the comment (and maybe do a quick MS-Paint text-overlay of it in the video) so we can copy-paste instead of having to take notes.
Smashing video mate. Especially for me not only being a complete beginner when it comes to Horus Heresy as well as 40K outside of a handful of rules-learning games at home so far, but also as someone who worries about picking the "wrong" thing. I suffer from awful choice paralysis with this kind of thing. When it comes to DnD I love looking into different build options and min-maxing. But with this I'm completely at a loss for what's good beyond the stuff that looks awesome. Very helpful again and I'll be sure to use your 1500pt list as a template when I decide on a Legion and then tweak it to fit my chosen theme! Keep up the great work and who knows, I might even get to the store for a game and get steamrolled by your good self!
Your info is great! love the channel Thank you! Cant wat for visuals though. Just the simple PowerPoint stuff. it's just great to have a visual reference sometimes. Thanks again!
I will be playing Sons of Horus and wanted to know what I should take as am going to be mainly playing against Talons of the Emperor force. A mix of Sisters of Silence and Custodes plus a Contemptor-Achillus Dreadnought. Thinking Plasma will help so a ten man squad of them or more.
We dont know what Talons do yet, but I would imagine you want to shoot them with AP2 things as much as possible, so plasma seems like a great option! Lascannons and Melta would be good too. I wouldn't tailor your list to your one opponent though. Take a good mix of cool stuff so you can have a great looking army on the board. Support Squads, Dreadnoughts, Vehicles, all can bring custodes-killing weaponry whilst still having a great and diverse army.
Thanks for another great video. I'm completely paralised in terms of choosing a legion. I went with salamanders first, runing many rhinos and land raiders with flamer support squads and pyroclasts. Now I sold the army off for various reasons I am afraid to make my second choice. I'm choosing between Alpha Legion and Word Bearers. Which of these would benefit from the box greater? I've got the AoD box (Traded Cataphractii for Tartaros), 2 Predators (watched your video), 2 Leviathans, 2 contemptors, Land Raider proteus (I love the explorators look).
Yep, theyre described simply as being mighty and powerful relics. The description in the book even specifically talks about some paragon blades chain weapons being made from the teeth of mighty xenos beasts… they could be literally anything!
This was super-helpful. I’ll definitely build the box based on your recommendation here. Question: I’ve got a Fire Raptor I bought years ago… still unassembled. I don’t even know what the weapon options are on that thing. Do you have any thoughts on what I should equip it with?
Hey Dan. Looks like it doesnt have many options - the avenger is great for gunning down marines, I’d definitely upgrade its heavy bolter batteries to autocannons too (perfectly capable of blowing up tanks especially if you get juicy back shots). It can upgrade its missioes to be straight uo better but I imagine theres no nodelled difference there. Definitely seems like its going to be dakka strafing marines and the sides/backs of predators or bombards hiding at the back of the board!
Define 'Rhino add-on kit'? I'd expect there will be plastic Deimos Predators etc, but the Rhino due for release tomorrow is exactly what it says on the tin, and comes with a great accessory sprue of pintle weapons etc.
@@EmperorsTeeth Unfortunately I can't remember the TH-cam but he thought GW was working on a sprue which could mod the new Rhino and would sell like other faction upgrade sprues. He also believed the existing (new) Rhino would be in the future with this sprue in the box. For what it is worth.
Sure! Here's my abridged show notes: Praetor - Paragon Blade, Disintegrator Pistol, Melta Bombs 180 (build whichever you think looks coolest and you can use it as something else later in the build of your army) 13 Tactical Squad - Chain Bayonets, Serg Power Weapon, Artificer Armour - 174 12 Tactical Squad - Chain Bayonets, Serg Power Weapon, Artificer Armour - 162 (Leaves 15 for equipping later with upgrades) Dreadnought with 2 of Power Fist/Lascannon/Melta Cannon 195/200 (ensures you have some anti vehicle power and also it can march forward and take objectives. Definitely magnetise to swap later if you can!) Cataphractii - Sergeant Chainfist + Grenade Harness, 3 Chainfists, 2 Power Fists, 2 Lightning Claws 360 (Leave two unassembled so you can add some different weapon options later if you get an upgrade kit) Spartan - Multimelta, Flare Shield 420 Total 1496, -5 if you took melee on the dread Upgrade Options & Ideas 5 Man Legion Tactical Support Squad - 5 Plasma Guns 145 5 Man Legion Tactical Support Squad - 5 Meltaguns 170 5 Man Legion Heavy Support Squad - 5x Missile Launchers, Cognis Signum, Artificer Armour 145 (and if you have spare points, a nuncio-vox to help with frag blasts and an augury scanner to give you interceptor) (you can also add an extra model or so to any of the above if you find yourself with spare points) If you bought rhinos, special weapon squads and tactical squads love them! If you bought a Kratos, just add it in! I'd replace all of its guns with lascannons to make it 350 points, if you're going to give it a pintle weapon make it a multi-melta for +20. Then you have a choice of flare shield for +50, and melta blast-gun for 15 (combos with the multimelta quite well). I think my fave setup is all lascannons, melta blastgun for 365.
@@HearesyHas there been any point changes or is Battle Scribe wrong? The Dreadnought with melta and powerfist is only 180 (so 15 point short there) and the terminators are 20 point short compared to your point values.
Great vid. My only constructive criticism would be that you’re a bit too quiet. I’m listening on my iPad and I have to get right up next to it to hear you. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the feedback and kind words! I’ve started experimenting a bit with cleaning up the audio in my latest vid so hopefully I can solve this. Cheers!
Chain bayonet is +1str but wont give you an extra attack for two weapons. But for its price, its pretty much better *most* of the time, and looks cool too!
Is the extra attack being the chainsword and pistol? Would it be worth putting a few chainswords in a unit of tactical marines like 5-10 for a 20 man unit?
Yep thats right. And no i dont think so reallh but if you like the look of them then its not a terrible option in a legion with offensive melee bonuses (like night lords or blood angels) - its just a bit expensive
Your accent sounds wirral/ chesire. Im from the wirral and just stsrting heresy, subbed and hoping to pick up a few tips. Hopefully my box will land next week. It seems just building everything as standard is not the way with this box.
@@Hearesy wow, it's obv there but it's a much cleaner scouse twang than I'd expect. Must be from the posh part of Liverpool lol. Meant no offence haha.
