Living in Pine Cove sounds heavenly. You were lucky for those 15 years. I’ve spent most of my life living in Cerritos, down here in the flatlands. But I head up to the mountains as often as I can.

My favorite place. My family and I started camping at Lake Hemet when I was a young kid, and I’ve been going to both Lake Hemet and Idyllwild continually since then (and I just turned 50). I love Idyllwild and the San Jacintos!!! I thought I’d have my own cabin up there by now, but nooooooo! 😢
I lived literally at the state park when I was in high school my stepdad was the chief ranger there and they had houses that the families lived in so it was just a five minute walk into town. Lots of good memories.
I’ve noticed a lot of houses for sale on Zillow. Is this normal? I read maybe it’s because of the fire insurance. Sorry for the silly question, we visited yesterday but loved it. Definitely a town that doesn’t want to grow too fast. Love the charm of it.
The Idyllwild market is softening. The prices are coming down and I feel it's because of the short term rental moratorium. They now have a cap on the city which was needed. For that reason, investors are now looking elsewhere since they are limited in Idyllwild. It's a great time to get a good deal on something with so many homes sitting on the market for a while.
IDYLLWILD is a beautiful spot without doubt, and like all beautiful spots they are very, very high FIRE RISK... so Brandy, would I be able to get insured in this climate of insurance companies dumping those that embrace mother nature? I filmed on location here in the 1980's, and even then the studio had to take out extra high fire-risk insuranceeven then for a 2-week shoot. If memory serves all of us crew used to go to a restaurant called the Red Kettle, a local institution for numerous film crews as well as for locals. My late friend worked on Elvis' KID GALLAHAD in 1961, and he encouraged me to move here... Good presentation Brandy, you must be using a GoPro or something, and to think of all the equipment we use to have truck up there!
Yes! You still can get insurance. It's called the California FAIR Plan. A standard CA FAIR Plan policy only provides financial protection for your home's dwelling and your personal property if they are damaged from four named perils: fire, lightning, internal explosions and smoke.

Plans to clear cut the forest and bulldoze flat more land for development of multistory condos is moving forward. Migrant tent housing is planed for summer
The nice part about Idyllwild is that it’s in California, so you don’t run into too many ignorant magas there. So many ppl send their kids or go with families from all over CA to summer camps there, so that town has built up a nice progressive atmosphere which is unique for a mountain town. ❤

It doesn't take an hour to get to a grocery store off the hill. Stater Bros on New Chicago is 25-30 minutes away. Depending on how you drive.
Had friends in idyllwild from 1995 to 2012 they moved unles you're endowed with money to have a second home great place for a road for the day
