    Great video. It can be hard to explain castor angles to someone, your angle specs and locations are so simple and easy.

    Good explaination. Alignment and good relationship between suspension parts is critical but so overlooked.
    I drive a FWD and have set the scrub neutral and more caster.
    It tramlines bad now but also turns in and grips many times better.
    I am ready to feel every change in surface through the wheel but can also see why a factory wouldn't make the car that way.
    So many intertwined parts in suspension

    Ty for this. Getting ready to try and find some toyota axles. This will be very helpful :)

      Toyota is slightly different. You want the top trunion set back 1.5-2degrees

      Thank you :)

    So I'm assuming that since my axles are stock, the wobble I'm getting is related to worn out parts? My springs are 1.5in OME if that matters.

    What are the odds you posted this video. Today after finally getting my samurai running from doing the 16V swap and doing a test drive. The samurai started to death wobble. Don't know how or why it's happening. Could the weight of the 1.6 engine affect it? Or do I need to refresh all my suspension components. The samurai sat for 3 years. I will check the angles tomorrow.
    Thanks Myron.

      Absolutely weight not the issue.
      This engine requires a lift. You had this lift when you drove it before the engine swap?
      These cars must have toe in. Text me for more details

      @@Zuksoffroad Yes the lift was installed with the 1.3. It has the rocky road JP eater yj kit with 2" yj lift springs. I measured it this morning and my angles were exactly 10 &12. I discovered it has loose bearings on the passenger side hub. Let's see if I can adjust play. Or just rebuild the whole axle

      @@oczuk32 best degree/angles for sure. Has to be bearings need adjusting, bad ball joints, or toe in. Addressing those issues soon.

    Nothing to do with pinion angle. It is caster angle thats important

    • @Zuksoffroad
      @Zuksoffroad  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When caster angle is correct the pinion flange or bottom of differential has specific angles where it’s easier to read. Or do you recommend removing down to the knuckle just to measure the top race angle?

      And if you buy a " pre loved" zook that has been tinkered with as in housing has been modified to change king pin castor angle in relation to pinion angle...it does happen in the wilds

    • @cavekritter1
      @cavekritter1 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also does that pinion angle to castor angle remain the same when toyota axles are fitted?

    • @Zuksoffroad
      @Zuksoffroad  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cavekritter1definitely always on “tinkered” Toyota is 1.5- 1.75 degrees tilted back on upper trunion race aka king bearing.

    I’ve got a completely stock samurai that has a little wobble. I rebuilt the knuckles with new bearings and knuckle seals. Still some wobble. Any ideas?

      Ball joints or angle of dif what is angle? Just guessing here but did you do a suspension lift with long shackles.

      @@Zuksoffroad no suspension lift. It’s new to me but I will measure the angles, from what I can see it’s never been modified at all

      @@Stufferburgare front springs bent backwards? That changes the angles

    • @Stufferburg
      @Stufferburg หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Zuksoffroad there was a worn out bolt on the steering stabilizer shock, that created some play, replaced that and it’s better but not gone. I think I’m going to look into replacing the ball joints. Also maybe when I reinstalled the knuckles I didn’t get the right pre-load on them? I found videos after the fact showing how to increase/decrease preload. If the preload is wrong this could contribute to the wobble yeah? Thanks for the reply’s

    • @Zuksoffroad
      @Zuksoffroad  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Stufferburg Knuckles are held on with the trunnion caps aka king and queen pins. The knuckles should never be loose on the ball. The preload is accomplished by shims. the knuckles on a samurai should move at 9-10 lbs of pull on a fish scale.
