I hate whenever people say things about bargaining or being ripped off. Like, the extra $1.30 or whatever I will gladly pay to such hardworking folks who need it way more than I do. Good on you for supporting the locals and not being such a tightwad when you're so blessed. You are not a sucker, or too nice, or naïve, you just recognize your privilege and for that, I think you're amazing. THANK YOU for being a good human!
Chris you always have to negotiate in Asia or they think less of you as a shopper. It is expected and fun. They sell a lot of product and it is part of the experience, like eating different foods or seeing different sights. Just relax and enjoy the ride. I have bought so many copies for fun and for myself. Thanks for sharing.

Akun for ty. Great memories bro, Was there almost 30 years ago training with Cambodian Navy. I got a bunch of those fake Rolex and brought them back to the states and gifted to friends as a novelty. The people are awesome, visit is a must.
I am a watch collector. If you’re curious, that is a replica of a non-existent Rolex. Almost looks like a datejust, mixed with a presidential, and submariner clasp. Pretty funny. I’d say, it’s worth around $5 if it tells the time. Hey, you made a guy happy! I do not support the fake Rolex market, but it’s amusing haha. Please don’t wear this in public lol. Enjoy your G-shock, which is a legitimate timekeeping machine.
Don't get why people will risk wearing a fake Rolex these days. With so many chancers robbing people. It's not right a criminal,is making me think like this, but it's true. Don't spend £100 on fakes, buy a decent £100 watch instead. Just my humble opinion.

Love your vlog chris. I learned many things about siem reap from it. I was looking for a video tour about cambodia and I found your video. I am planning to visit cambodia this month.
Cambodia has no taxes or duty on alcohol or cigarettes: I've done TH-cam videos in the last month looking at all the different brands of alcohol and cigarettes and the true costs
I've been to Asia multiple times and definitely the first price is always negotiable. It's not disrespectful at all. Sometimes they'll initiate the bargaining themselves once you change your mind and then the game is on. The calculator is great for bargaining so numbers don't get confusing. This guy handled it the same way my wife and I have. Id feel bad if I purposely tried to rip off the locals. But you can easily compare prices by walking around and get a baseline and go from there. It's fun and challenging but fair.
I shopped at Old Market a couple times for shirts.... Been to Siem Reap 3 times from the U.S.A. for a total of 15 weeks and enjoyed it....thanks for the video
Hope everything is Okay. Chris usually upload his videos like back to back with the Cambodia videos. I'm anxiously waiting for his Angkor wat experience. :)

I'm with you, and as it should be almost everywhere in market, like swap meet, downtown Santee alley in los angeles. So, sure they hit you with tourist price, and if you don't bargain, then you pay full asking price. Plain and simple, like most people go and buying a car at a dealership, you will try to negotiate the price..
You can buy all those watches and more from Central Market in Phnom Penh. I always offer half of what they ask for, and get near that price in the end. Sometimes you need to walk away twice or more, show all confidence possible when bargaining prices.
If you buy too much stuff to pack, simply send it home in a box by mail. While living in Chiang Mai, Thailand, I sent two boxes of stuff home to Canada by postal service. I'm a western...my home is Canada. As far as small Buddha statues, I was easily able to take a couple out of both Thailand and Cambodia. They are more concerned about removal of actual antique statues. Perhaps my being Buddhist and respecting Buddhism, made a difference, I don't know.
@@geoteun1562 I can’t remember what I paid. But it was not much. I sent two boxes to Canada when I was living in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
