KTM's ECU Map 103 Extreme also increases oil all the time. They had a 102 for a short time(?) but it only increased oil at start up when at 10°Celsius or lower. Map 102 came on my 2022 and Just jhad MAP 103 Extreme installed but there has been too much snow on the ground here to do a real test ride.
So did you prefer the low compression head? I want some more bottom end that still gets traction. I rode a wherco while back and it was get traction everwhere. Loved it and proably buy one next yeae
Running the medium head and absolutely love it. Very keen to try the low comp as well. What is that pipe guard you're running? Looks like a good design that is reasonably light weight

Your bike might have spooge because of the TSP reflash (giving more oil at start up?)? I have looked at the kit and was keen on the low comp head, so thanks for this video, very informative 👍

I ask because the vendor in the US is strongly suggesting that I go with the Med comp head as "its the best all around" , when I told him I wanted the low comp, as Im a vet and ride "soft enduro". I have ability save $ and try only the ECU flashed with the TSP flash, I was thinking of just forgoing the head low comp head and keeping the stock one?. .... should I thy this first, is the low comp head much different from the stock head any way ...any advice you could give is much appreciated
I just went from stock to medium head and its a massive difference. I bought my '21 300 xc-w on 10/10/2020 when I just turned 51. I learned to ride on it. It was perfect for me to learn on. I'm not afraid of speed and tend to be a gung-ho type athlete. This 300 was a bit much at first but I've grown into it with over 2,100 miles and 164 hours on it since I bought it. Most of those miles are single track with some challenging mountain climbs with switchbacks, log hops etc etc. On my first ride with the new medium comp head I said out loud a couple times "I'm glad the bike wasn't like this when I bought it." "It would have been way too much" The power is significantly more. The low end torque is amazing. The snap on 2nd is now a bit much for me. On my first ride I found myself lugging 3rd out of fear a lot of the ride. I had a few whisky throttle moments where I hadn't had any of those for quite a while. It was a totally different bike. I raced my buddy on his 300Te and walked away from him in 3rd. However this bike is more tiring to ride now. I believe I can grow into it. Its going to smoke hill climbs but will also loop out in a heartbeat if I'm not careful. Trail obstacles will be easier as getting the front end up now is as simple as a throttle twist. Now when I accelorate in 2nd or 3rd the front tire comes up, easily. I am a little intimidated by the bike now but I also believe I have the skill set to grow into it. Knowing what I know now, I might have gone with the low head. However, medium will be amazing when I master it. If you're competent, confident and can get up and down some gnarly trails with no fear, medium head is will make a major difference. But my 300 is a bit scary to me now. :)
The dealer simply replaced both sensors on my 2022 XC with about 6 hours on it at no charge. Unfortunately it did not help. The medium head is the most popular. But elevation is a big consideration. I am going to get the Medium. I ride in 200 to 500 meters elevation above sea level. TSP's re -mapping of the ECU increases the oil used at most rpm's. KTM injects too little the last 3 years as shown by many shops who have found scoring on the cylinders after as little as 2 hours of running.
I want feel like my former 1996 Honda CR500. Still my most favourite bike of all time. They still beat new 450's mx bikes off the line, out of the gate and up sandy longish hills. Torque baby!😁
@@enduroskillstraining Thats why I am not eager to swap my 2017 300 EXC:). I run it with Lectron and it works like electric engine...I have sorted out the suspension (Dal Soggio front with personal revalve with inner and outer tubes coated and TTX flow rear) and already run 4th piston, 2nd cylinder and 1 bottom end rebuild after 500hrs. Currently 550 hrs on it but I am at 2000 at least:)

The ecu upgrade increases oil through the entire rev range.
Oil out the exhaust is a good thing! It means you’re getting excellent lubrication!
Not necessarily it means that oil isn't being burnt actually more oil can male them rum lean and add towards detonation

The TSP ecu flash also increases oil a tad per TSP. I never understand why people guess or assume.
I prefer to ask the builder.

I find it hard to believe the low comp head is best for everything, if that were the case there would an even lower comp head available.
He said it was personal prefferance.
Doing a review having not fixed the ccp sensor, seems to me a waste of time and not reflective of the final result.

On what setting did you end on the air screw and PV after TSP update ?
Airscrew: 3/4 turn out from fully closed PV: standard position
TSP gives instructions with the head / ecu flash.
Stock the bikes came at a different screw setting for different years.
What elevation are you typically at? That will make a difference in selecting which head to get.
In the UK probably 0-1000 in most cases

Why not using the OEM head? The powercurve on these engines is so good
Stock engines run lean, TSP adds fuel/oil into the mix making the power much better
