    I literally just bought these a few days ago. The orange one! My greyhound has really benefited from this!

    I have both of those exact bowls for my dogs! Your videos are so informative, and have motivated me to make homemade food for my pups!

    I got the orange spiral one for my puppy and she got so frustrated with it at first. The bowl is deep enough that she could only get the kibble that was at the end of the spiral. The rest, she had to push with her tongue until it got to the end, and then try to get it. She would spend a good 15-20 minutes spinning around the bowl trying to get everything out. She is getting better now, but it still takes her a while to eat her food.

    Love this! I already owned the Turquoise one and soon the Purple. Our 9 wk old puppy struggles a little due to size but definitely works on it. This will be our 3rd day with our "Sammy" and I just introduced the Farm Fresh Goat's milk for breakfast! He loves it! I will be making a variation of frozen goats milk paw and bone shape treats and now I'm researching recipes for baked treats...#Love Being A Dog Dad!

    I absolutely swear by these - I'm not able to walk my dogs everyday because of my disability (my mum does it as often as she can and we take them to a local park as often as we can too), so giving them enrichment is *so* important imo

    I bought another " Heavy Duty Slow Bowl " from a brand named PETDURO on Amazon which is much sturdier and more beautiful than those from Outward Hound. And it effectively slows down my dog's eating for 15 minutes. Recommend it to you all.

    I bought my dog a slow feeder awhile ago and have since then had the question on how it really affects her on the back of my mind so this was pretty interesting. That story about Misty being her sassy husky self was pretty funny!

    They make ceramic slow feed bowl now, as well as stainless steel. It's still more difficult to find but I think the prices tend to be around the same (but I'm not sure)

    Thanks for another awesome video, Skylar!
    Would you please do a video on what you can add to kibbles? I know kibble isn't the best diet for dogs but have no idea what to do in terms of adding things to it.
    Also what advice you would give pet parents who are on a budget.
    Thanks again!

      Thank you so much! Friday's video is about one particular "add to", but I will certainly be doing a video in the near future with a whole long list of them! To get you started, bone broth, goats milk, canned food, cooked meat, or raw pet food are all great additions with a ton of health benefits!
      I'll also have to get to work putting together a budget friendly hack video, thank you for the suggestion!

      @@TheTattooedDogTrainer Awesome, thanks!
      I can try those but any time my dog eats more than 16% fat DMB he has soft stools, is that something I should be concerned about?
      When you add toppers, should I decrease the amount of kibble!
      Thanks again for being awesome!

    • @TheTattooedDogTrainer
      @TheTattooedDogTrainer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      An abundance of fat can cause loose stools, but adding a bit of pumpkin or feeding leaner meats should fix that right up! Definitely decrease your kibble intake to compensate for all the goodies added in.

    Any thoughts on the Loving Pets Gobblestopper? I bought one a few months back for my cat who tends to gorge on his kibble and then regurgitate. He no longer throws up his food! Probably not as mentally-stimulating as these bowls though.

  • @Mehki227
    @Mehki227 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bought this for my 13 yo puppy (doesn't look or act a day over 1 yo) who's always hated her food until I took her kibble and threw it all over the floor and hid some of it and she loved the chase. After that she'd eat it from her bowl. Now she gets fresh pet and boiled chicken breasts and she loves dinner time! She eats so fast, though, instead of picking at food she doesn't like. But she eats so fast and then sits and begs my food (we serve her when we eat to stop the begging, we hoped). Can't wait to use this. Maybe I can eat in peace (doesn't beg from hubby - just me, because apparently I'm a sucker).

    Question for anyone! I have a Golden Retriever who uses an elevated dog bowl feeder. If I get a bowl like this, should I still try to place it on the elevated feeder? I believe the worry is if they eat off the floor their stomach may flip?

    • @commie_dog_boy

      Elevated food bowls don’t do anything for your dog’s bloating. I don’t know where that myth came from but you were scammed.

    My sole complaint about these slow feeder bowls is that they are plastic. Plastic can be a source of hormone disrupters, can harbor bacteria, and other toxins. I wish I could find some stainless steel slow feeder bowls that are dishwasher safe, but the ones that I did find had stauncheons that could trap water, so they couldn't be cleaned in the dishwasher without developing a mold problem. I try to stick to either non-magnetic stainless steel (food safe stainless steel) or glass. I have found stainless steel lick mats, though.

    Looked through the back catalog and did not see a video on Dr Harvey's bases - a video on those would be great, if you start looking for other brands to review - all the videos i find seem to be non-helpful, or obviously a paid promotion - great videos - thanks

    They didn't work for us. I saw signs of stress in my dog when she used it (whites of eyes, panting when it wasn't hot, etc.). Gave away. It's a great idea for some dogs though.

      Try some other enrichment tools like a treat ball or freezing meals into a Kong. Slows them down and tired them out!

  • @BushmanBove

    These items slow the ingestion but don't alter the mind set they are a sticky plaster at best & are just more "stuff" to buy. Hand feeding while training will slow indigestion, add enrichment while altering the mindset & build engagement like nothing
    else. I prefer to give time & attention instead of "product & more stuff".

    • @Jeremy_Fisher
      @Jeremy_Fisher 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wait, are you saying that you never ever feed your dogs in a bowl? If so, great for you, I guess you truly are better than the rest of us (or a liar). However, most people feed their dogs in a dog bowl that the dogs inhale and get bloat and die. It's not just more stuff to buy, it's a replacement. You'd be buying a bowl in either case. Also, it doesn't matter that it doesn't change the dogs' mindset, people just don't want their dogs to die.

    • @BushmanBove
      @BushmanBove 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jeremy_Fisher Perhaps you need to read my comment again as it does not claim that I only hand feed or never feed from a bowl ( so a liar I am not). The point I was making was that owners do not have to keep buying different products & stuff to raise a well behaved & balanced dog. Time, effort, patience & consistency will do the job. What factual evidence do you have that the thousands of people that buy these slow feeders do so with the sole intent of only not wanting their dogs to bloat & die? Claiming owners would rather not change their dogs mind sets so they didn't bolt their food is ridiculous & by your reasoning would be like an owner saying they were happy to always muzzle their reactive dog rather than change its mindset not to be reactive so it didn't need to be muzzled. It seems to me you just wanted to attack my comment for reasons only known to yourself.

    Thanks for your videos, I love your channel! I pick up my female Cavalier King Charles spaniel puppy and July 22 when she’s nine weeks old. I put down my beloved elderly male Cavalier last June 3 2020 and it took me a year to be ready but I am ready!
    I would love your review and compare/contrast of two foods. One is Nutrisource ( that after watching your food review settled on in terms of being good AND affordable) I’m interested your take on their small breed puppy food. Then I’d like you to compare that with the Life’s Abundance food my breeder’s been feeding her and if I keep her in two years they’ll extend the one-year health guarantee to a full two years. I know he gets some type of benefit from this and I’m good with that, but I am mostly concerned about its nutritional qualities. He is a very good breeder and doesn’t breed any dog unless it’s passed and is certified for not carrying genetic disorders for this breed. lifesabundance.com/pets/puppy/puppyfoodsmmedbreed.aspx
    also I don’t know if you’re done a video of the supplies needed for a new puppy, but if not that would be useful too. Although the food is more critical!
