Hi Doggy Digs. I love your videos. I do have A SERIOUS QUESTION. In this video, the dog with the soldier at 0:30 - 0:32 , what kind of dog is that? I had a dog we adopted (one of the best dogs I have ever owned). I didn’t know his back info and only guessed what his breed(s) were. Can you pls tell me what he is? He looks EXACTLY LIKE MY DOG!! 😊
This is a great idea. I'll try these toys for my next dog for sure. My current dog is old, and I'm not sue if he'll respond. I will try the towel though.
This only works if you feed your dog dry food. My dog eats raw food with added goat milk and hot water. Much better for him and he doesn't suffer from allergies and all the other health issues many dogs have.
My dog's favorite puzzle is finding a spot behind or to the side of me and STARING until I feed them. Like Eddie level stares, for those that have seen Frasier.
I saw the towel method somewhere a while ago and we've used it for our border collie every night ever since. We use a towel and now can even tie two knots in it and he get it out. He loves it, gets so excited for supper time because of it.
My dog uses an old, small, plastic vanilla essence bottle Simply put in some kibble, and she picks it up and flings it around for a while until it's empty Great fun, and amusing to watch too
No problem ! My dogs sit on chairs at the table w/ us & using the correct utensils, plates & glasses in the correct order , etc. , they follow the proper etiquette rules just like all ( human ) children should learn at an early age . Our dinner guests are always impressed ! 🐾🐾💙
Kidding aside, I trained my last dog to sit at the table while I ate, and he would never even dream of taking food from the table. Even if someone got up to go in another room or otherwise wasn't looking. He never begged, either. Because he never received food from the table. Any food we gave him was always taken from the table to his bowl in the other room. And we didn't want him to really associated food from the table with the food he got pest, anyway. But my favorite training was the off and take it commands. I could put a piece of raw meat on each paw and say off. He would look at the meat, and at me but would not eat it. Then I could points one ant say take it, and he would eat only that one. It was a good skill for a dog that walked on city streets because I could just say off of we walked by something that most dogs couldn't resist snatching up and eating, but which could be harmful or unhealthy.
@@PhilLesh69 You're a good dog parent ! I was most proud of my black Lab who traveled to horse shows w/ me ( laid back , lovely manners , no leash needed ) altho' one time he " went rogue " . When I returned from the show ring after my class ,he was not waiting ( napping 💤 ) at the horse trailer which had never happened before - aghhh !! I think they’re called snuff mats? I’ve heard they’re great too (like the towel) and decent at making them eat slowly For wet-foods (whether canned or made yourself) can probably work on a lick mat! They have grooves and stuff making then work a bit to lick it all up (lasts longer if you put it in the freezer beforehand 😂) you can also just use this for treats
Snuffle mats. A lick mat isn't going to be good for our dogs' tender tongues, except occasionally. I need something to feed my dog his raw food in daily. Guess the search continues. It's frustrating because almost everything assumes you feed kibble.
My dog loves a toy called busy buddy tug-a-jug treat dispenser. It’s a purple plastic bottle with a rope in it. I’m on my second jack Russell and both have loved this toy. I bought my first one 15 years ago or more. The tied up towel took my old jack about 3 minutes to get untied and unrolled. Fun to watch him scoot it around.
these examples really only work for kibble food... please, some puzzle or other enrichment suggestions for feeding whole raw with broth or other liquids!
I pray to God to give you a lot of beautiful days and you know God loves us so much,So where are you originally from? I am David originally from Spain but currently living in Texas now...
i was worried the dog might discover that holding the towel by a tip and flinging it around until it unravels would make a mess and some food might end up going to waste in a dark corner of the room or under furniture...though scattering it that way would create a new task, they might prefer that as the fastest way 🙂
I take his kibble add water or low sodium stock wait 1/2 hr til the kibble is soft then stuff into his kong & freeze it. When its meal time, take out of freezer, thaw about 5 mins & give it to him. It takes him a good 1/2 hr to 45 mins getting his food out. Great during summer time or when the weather is warm. 😊
Low sodium stock? I recommend just getting some bone broth at a pet store. Nulo and Open Farm bone broth is made with safe ingredients like chicken, beef, or turkey for the main ingredient type, and then it is simmered with things like parsley, turmeric, carrots, etc. Usually only like 6 ingredients. Pet specific bone broths are super healthy, good for joint health, and are made without salt. Overall, they are a safe option, and grocery store stock is not.
I also said water. Some dogs need salt in their diet (electrolytes). My dog and prior dogs have/has always had low sod chicken broth and were (lived 15 plus years)/are very healthy. Salt has never been an issue. Simply monitor your dogs salt intake & talk to your vet.
@@Zekesquad I never said salt was bad, but kibble is already processed with salt, some brands even list it as an ingredient. Don't forget treats usually have it too depending on the quality you buy. Just remember that too much of anything can be harmful. I don't know what water you give your dogs, tap or filtered, but even water can have sodium chloride in it, you know... salt. (Some brands, again, also list it as an ingredient) Just please be careful with how much salt you feed to your dogs.

We actually had my sister’s Schnauzer use a Bob-A-Lot when she was just a puppy because she was eating her food too fast. She’s been using it for almost 11 years so it’s worked out well for her. We also found out back then that she’s a lefty so that’s an interesting thing to discover 😂
For a greater challenge: hide the toys with the dogs breakfast in them around the house before you leave for work. That will definitly keep them busy a while.

My puppy eats his raw food off a sniffle mat ! Won’t eat off a plate or bowl! Because he was a street dog out side eating trash ! But now have trained him not to eat garbage 🗑️! The mat is the only way he eats his food! It’s washed out after eating!
I feed my Jack Russell off the dining room table she loves it. Seriously though I feed her from a bowl but she never gets bored as we have a rat problem in the garden of our high-rise and we go downstairs every evening she loves catching them. She caught a huge one two days ago and that's where we're we're going right now.
I orded Domino's Pizza. I ate half and close the box, put it neatly on the kitchen table. 30 mins later when I came out from my room the dog managed to push the pizza box onto the floor and brought pieces unto the couch where it was enjoying it slowly. I accidently made a puzzle box for him. 😅 The trick is, your dog love to "solve" the puzzle when you are not around.😂😂
My dog is too respectful for that. He will never eat anything unless I give it to him. I can leave my dinner on my computer table next to my bed, and he is in there in the bed with me. I can get up to get a drink or go to the bathroom and trust that he will leave it alone.
Do you know I’ve seen somebody make recipes using the Kong like dog recipes for different things that they can chew on inside the Kong besides just getting the kibble out. I’ve seen some from gone to the snow dogs!
Great Ideas, but I don't feed dry kibble. I DO. however, use a Kong for half of his meals. It definitely slows him down and gives me some added time for myself.
Great advice but I have to feed my dogs in the morning before work then let the out to poop because they are inside during the day. But I will try this on the weekend thanks.
Love the idea to slow down eating but we feed our boy fresh cooked food. yes it is time consuming but he is worth it! the only thing i can figure our is to take a big dish and and smear it around thinly. still need to figure out a good way. He also has a habit of sitting at the kitchen table when he wants to eat....silly boy...we use to go to a restaurant in Cambodia and they would serve him at the table...guess that is where he picked it up...thanks for your vids, love them!

As with humans, inherently nice dogs will behave nicely, no matter the feeding methods. I used to buy my horse tricky/licky toys...he was clever...opened his mouth and just smashed these expensive "toys" to pieces. So a treat that should have lasted at least 3 days...gone in 30 seconds.
Then don’t get a container one I guess? 😂😅 Maybe something like a lickmat or snuff mat may work better?? They don’t have to destroy anything to get to the good stuff just lick away at what’s already there
