I think that while the Regulators can't prove each finger you bring is from someone evil, they find you to be trustworthy. This would be one reason why your level and karma have to reach a certain amount- talented enough to destroy evil, honorable enough to bring one finger from each villain. I wish that there were side quests about this, though. Imagine having to validate somebody's kills, hunt down a traitor, recruit new members or even just take on more bounties!

I think the Lincoln shrine may have been left by the Temple of the Union or one of its supporters while they were staying there. They are one of the few groups in the wasteland who know who he is and worship him like a god. They even have a quest where they ask you to help them retake the Lincoln Memorial from the Slavers so that they can fix his statue.

Volstad Germaine, the issues of the southern states that claimed "States Rights" and pulled anchor, seperated, and formed the Confederate States of America (CSA) did not find fault in President Lincoln. It was the ever expanding overstepping their bounds by the federal government, the extreme increase in taxation (sound familiar) and who had the authority the fed or the state. aka States Rights.
The Civil War was NOT fought over slavery and its abolishment. No Sir! President Lincoln stated, "If I could save this Union by freeing no slaves, I would do it. If I could save this Union by freeing one slave, I would do it. If I could save this Union by freeing every slave, I would do it! I paraphrased some of his speech but we know which option he chose. 2nd best thing President Lincoln did was sign in the Bill that reinstated every Confederate Soldier, living and dead as American Citizens and prevented any military tribunals, treason court trials and executions. Since the Civil War, NO STATE has a right to withdraw from the Union or deny any freedom or request granted or asked of any state by the Federal Gov.

The first time I ever went to Washington DC was in 2008, in October. The whole city was plastered with Fallout 3 advertisements, and the Metro stops (many of which from the game I actually ended up stopping at and taking advantage of) had lifesize stickers of Brotherhood Paladins in power armor affixed to pillars around the escalators. Seeing all this I was a bit shocked, I didn’t have an Xbox 360 or PS3 at the time so I didn’t get the significance of the advertisements. Seeing all these wonderful historical places in the city and then turning around about 2 months after that and getting an Xbox and playing Fallout 3 was so interesting, the synchronicity of the design of the virtual city that lay in ruins and the modern real life equivalent was amazing. I’ll never forget that week in Washington, being caught up in some of the coolest history in the world as well as one of the most interesting media campaigns ever was an experience I’ll never forget. I love this game, thank you Ox for exploring it so much, so well.

There is actually a good reason for the flowers growing from the military graves I read somewhere online that the are in tribute to Bethesda's employees ancestors who fought and died in different wars I do believe one was for a ww1 and the others where for ww2 soldier and ancestors of Bethesda employees who didn't make it home and the graves are close to the real areas in the real life centenary. The one alone was the ww1 soldier and the two that were close were for the two fallen ww2 soldier. If this is true it's a nice and honorable touch to a game shrouded in bleak stories. P.S. god bless the fallen soldier who fought and died for our rights and freedoms we have and guide the present and future soldiers who will come that they make it back safe and sound.

I love the Junders Plunkett bounty, and his unique spiked knuckles. I just wish they made a corresponding encounter for Contract Killers. But I guess my real issue is these perks being made available as late as level 14. By then you've accrued all the wealth you could ask for, and there are so many good perks available, and more to come as your level grows higher. Something tells me that if Fallout 3 were ever remade by Bethesda, the Regulators and Littlehorn would be a source of radiant bounty quests, rather than the Finger and Ear business.

I don't think they care about how many fingers you bring in, the benefactor has put this in his plan that he would gladly pay 50 to 100 caps per villain, he saves quite a bit by only expressing the need for 1 finger (and if pinkys and thumbs are not accepted, that still a huge saving for the benefactor) As long as the watchers continue to see you doing your part, keeping a high karma, then if you could want (possible) to cheat for a few more caps they would let it slide imo. Roll up with a big bag of thirty or forty misc fingers, pay me my money. They probably wouldn't care if you killed 10 or 40 villains, point is they know you are killing villains for their good weakened elder God battling the forces of Chaos trying to enter the world. FO5 the warp will finally open.

Hey Oxhorn, in Fallout 4, there's an exchange when you first enter Goodneighbor that I always found a bit puzzling, and I was hoping you could make a video offering your two caps on it.
After Finn dies (whether you kill him or Hancock stabs him), Hancock will tell you "Goodneighbor's off the people, for the people." Anyone even modestly well-read in U.S. History will know that this line was originally from the Gettysburg Address, which not only promoted unity in represenative democracy, but also racial equality (because the Address was done during the height of the American Civil War).
You have the option to tell Hancock "That sounds like anarchy," to which Hancock will reply "The best kind of anarchy, so long as you remember who's in charge."
That's all well and good, but here's where the head-scratcher comes into play: All the companions who are normally considered "good guys," like Preston, Piper, Curie, Valentine, etc., all LIKE it when you select this dialogue option!
Equating democracy & equality to anarchy is something the good guys LIKE!
That doesn't make any sense! Maybe if this were just one companion, we could chalk it up to a development error. Like ... maybe Bethesda meant for the Companion to dislike it but programmed in "like" by mistake. But this is EVERY Companion who is normally considered good!
So is that some kind of political commentary Bethesda in the real world is trying to subtly squeeze in? Do the people at Bethesda, in the real world, actually think democracy and equality is bad for us?
Or maybe it's a subtle hint as to how life before the Great War was? There's the occasional lore in the Fallout world suggesting that the few years immediatley before Great War were either martial law or bordering the line. Perhaps people just became so use to martial law that it's the only "government" they can comprehend? Anything that isn't martial law is therefore non-government, aka anarchy.
Also, remember that the Cold War never really ended in the Fallout world. The generation immediately before the Great War - the generation that the Sole Survivor was a part of - had lived in this "Red Scare" their whole lives! Living in constant fear of some sort of enemy like Commmunist China can really take its toll on people's psyche. You need look no further than the Commonwealth's fear of The "Boogeyman" Institute to see that!
Well, what if life before the Great War was so drenched in fear of Communism ... and the hatred of Communism became more and more entrenched in people's minds, and the paranoia of communism became greater and greater, that the people slowly began to take on the very traits they believed they hated?
That happens from time to time! A person who is so passionate in his hatred of a particular enemy, and is so obsessed with defeating that enemy, that he, unbeknownst to himself, effectively BECOMES the very thing he's fighting against! The Direct-to-DVD movie "Batman: Under the Red Hood" is a perfect example of such a story. In that movie, Jason Todd becomes so obsessed with stopping crime that he literally turns himself into a mob boss, because he honestly believes that's the best way to control the worst of crime!
So, could the people right before the Great War have potentially been so scared of communism that they've lost touch with what makes America a "free" country?
What are YOUR thoughts on the matter?

Hey, im sorry Oxhorn but there was no insult made to General Lee and alot of people around the USA respected him for his dignity, military intelligence, sincerity, honesty, and dutifulness. Lincoln actually highly respected him. he didnt want to even be involved in the war, he actually thought it was foolish and would only hinder us as a nation. he only joined when his home stated succeeded from the Nation. he did not wish to fight saying hed only raise his sword to protect his native state. so i dont see that as a disrespectful thing to General Lee, they both had respect and admiration towards one another both had similar views on slavery, just Lee wanted to defend his home, wouldnt you do the same?

    • @12434567891
      @12434567891 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

lol the only reason Lincoln didnt own slaves is because his church he went to condemned it. he actually said that slaves were inferior and that if there was another way to win the war without freeing part of them, he would do that. Lee and Lincoln both had the same views on the matter, they both saw it as an immoral trade and both agreed it was inhumane thing to do. But they both also said that it was nothing they could do about it because that's where they belonged lol. Lincoln wasnt this hero of Civil RIghts and Justice, he just didnt want to go down in history as the president who lost the nation they just fought to free. Lee only did what he did out of loyalty, not self gain or self preservation or to increase his reputation.

samuel rivera I think a majority of reasonable people will agree that in hindsight, we can see that both sides fought a war based on morals that really left a shell of the nation. It took years to rebuild the areas devastated by the war and Robert e Lee was a big part of how those citizens survived. Without compassion, understanding, and the ability to compromise, I'm 100% certain that our country will find another civil war to fight. Meanwhile our enemies abroad would be stupid not to take that opportunity to attack.
Now back to your, in his place would you not do the same question, it's impossible to know. He thought he was doing the right thing and he cannot be vaulted for that. But do you think he would've changed his actions if he had known the outcome of the war or the 1000s of Virginian's and Americans who would end up dying for both the confederacy and the union? I like to think of Lee as one of the smartest generals of that Era and like to think he would've worked for a compromise as our whole government should have done. Slavery didn't disappear overnight and the atrocities committed by both sides have left scars still present today. All we can do today is strive to be better than our fore fathers and not make the same mistakes. Not to glorify the main ideology shared by a majority of people in the civil war, that some men are less human than others. Not to abandon our state and our government just because we disagree with radical behavior on both sides. Idk that's just me and my book comment.

as much as i respect your comment the war wasnt even about the morality of anything. the Nation was built upon slavery and hard labor it didnt leave a shell of anything. it is our history that didnt affect how our nation developed, the nation continued to strive and be a major world power even to this day. the war was a political war that indirectly had an affect on slavery. our forefathers made no mistakes because AT THAT TIME is was completely acceptable to own slaves, however immoral you or i think it might be. the atrocities you speak of werent done to just slaves, they were done to indians, poor whites, mexicans, asians, basically anyone not rich or considered important. this comment had NOTHING to do with the aftermath of the Civil War,it was the fact that Oxhorn thought it was ironic that a portrait of Abraham Lincoln was found in Robert E Lee's house. which i said there is nothing ironic about it. it wasnt an insult it wasnt a blunt diss on Lee, even if it was intended as such.

Strangely enough, ive never gotten the Lawbringer perk. Every visit to Arlington house was quiet and mysterious. I doubt Plunket would idolize Abe Lincoln, but the most likely thing would be the remainders of a member of The Temple of the Union, perhaps Hannibal Hamlin himself before he officially founded the thing. Just maybe, the place inspired him. Otherwise, its just a fun little mystery.
As much as i love the little Wall-e moment with the few flowers in the wasteland appearing at the cemetery, could they just be plastic flowers that somehow survived the ages? Best brain candy i have for ya Oxhorn, keep being awesome.
