i adore Carly Simon. She has always been very unique, talented and a beautiful singer. I wish there were videos of the album ANOTHER PASSENGER . That was the first album of hers I bought... I LOVE IT, especially the song LIBBY. When I bought Torch, played it over and over and over.
I was 16 when Come Upstairs was released and I loved Carly's new rockin out direction. I was too young to drive but my father graciously drove me from NJ to Dick Clark's notorious Westchester theater in Tarrytown, NY to see one of Carly's tour dates there. Due to her notorious stage fright, the show wasn't very long which was kind of a mixed blessing because I had an English test the next day lol. I even had a Come Upstairs T-shirt.

Wow! One of my favorite musicians and three of my favorite artists in one video. And a song that I’m sure has a sentiment almost everyone can identify with. I wonder if the inspiration was from a quote by Van Gogh who wished people would only “take me as I am.” I have admired many sculptures by Marisol Escobar, but had never seen one of her paintings. Wonderful to see how different artists interpret a subject. I’m also a big fan of Hal Holbrook, met him once at a Mark Twain Conference in Elmira, NY. As of this writing (10/22/19) only Carly Simon (74) and Hal Holbrook (94) are still living.
I LOVE THIS....It was always one of my favorite Carly songs that Rocks. I love all of her mellow, storytelling songs, but I also love "Rock N Roll" Carly - You Know What To Do, Vengence, Come Upstairs, Tired of Being Blonde, etc...
This is a brilliant clip! I love the intensity of the song, the lyrics and the performance. And the artwork was also brilliant. It was cool how each artist 'saw' her, and presented their vision. I enjoyed all three artists' visions of Carly. I have a friend who I've known for over 20 years now and she's named after her! Baby, you're the best, Carly!
Shame on Warner Bros. for not working the singles from Come Upstairs harder. Jesse and Take Me As I Am should have been Top 10 singles. Not to mention them doing zilch to promote one of Carly's best albums, Hello Big Man.
The song is "Take Me As I Am" and they took her and filtered her through their own gimmicks and clichés. She's admirably kind in the face of lesser talent.
@2blue2jett, it's from the "Come Upstairs" album. It's still fairly easy to get in online music stores or on eBay. Not her best album as a whole, but quite a few interesting moments in there - including "Take me as I am".
