Facsinating how their music moves around and evolves. That outro's about as close to the genr... nah, I'm not even gonna say it. Its nothing like 'Prog'... to me anyway. Something even bigger than that.
Tim wrote this music as naturally as we walk and talk. A true musical genius. Every single thing he wrote was just brilliant....what an imagination.
Fun fact: This is only the second Cardiacs song I have ever heard, I only discovered them this morning after I heard Justin Hawkins mention them in an old interview!

A big hello to everyone who's seen this video a thousand times already, owns the DVD and live album, was probably at the Garage gigs (I was, yeah, look impressed) but just came back to watch it AGAIN because you bloody love love love it. HELLO.

I've watched this vid like 20 times. I can't get enough. Every part is compelling, and musical. I love all the Garage songs. Stripped down and rocking.
Anyone know why they went so "rock" and lean in the 90s? Just curious. They go from having 6-8 members to a mean and lean 4 (with some backing keyboard tracks).

For the first 54 seconds this sounds like it could be a normal-ish glam metal riff exercise, and then it goes all Cardiac-y as it must. Brilliant misdirection, boys!
3.12 onwards is a fucking hair raising experience. Imagine walking out to the ring with that behind you? The ref would pre-emptively declare you the winner.

@@user-bootlicker what I meant is Zappa create that sound where the the cardiacs and Mr bungle took a lot from him. I was hearing for example uncle meat and could hear that others bands taking elements and sounds.
The skit at the end is very funny; Tim always makes me laugh.

One of the greatest bands in history. Period. Why have I not discovered them before this. And tragically, after the guitarist has passed on. My heart goes out to all of them, and thank you so much for doing this wonderful music.

First band I saw live. St Helens (Shirdley) Show, 1989. They rocked nine different layers of crap out of that tent.

Thanks to Dan Mongrain of Voivod and Devin Townsend for hipping me to this crazy band . I can't believe that I'd never heard of them. Best wishes to Tim and I hope his quality of life is improving. Just a brilliant musician.
Dev is a fan of Cardiacs? I didn't know that.
Devin played in The Wildhearts for a moment way back in 1994, and Ginger is a massive Cardiacs fan, even creating a Wildhearts song homage to Tim Smith on the 2009 Chutzpah album.
Devin probably heard Cardiacs stuff all the time when he toured with WH.

I think there is probably a big backstory to this.
I read that Ginger hired his bassist back in the day by going to a Cardiacs show together, on acid.
I think The Wildhearts recorded an entire album at Tim Smith's recording studio.
You can find most of the Wildhearts show with Devin and his large mullet on rythym guitar and backup vocals at the 1994 Reading festival here on youtube.

it's a long song but it never fails to be interesting, for every listen, when songs are simpler it's easier to get bored of them but visiting hours never seems to disappoint

An assault on the senses. They always were. This was a band who could make you question reality merely on account of their personal appearance. They were WAY ahead of their time and I think we should have a campaign to make this Christmas number one ... at least get one decent thing out of 2020.

One of the most incredible bands I've heard. Wish I'd found them years ago.
Of what I've heard from this band (which isn't a lot), it seems that they like to do prog-ska post-new wave avant-punk songs with jaw dropping epic progressive rock endings.

The way it's played is stunning. You can have a pretty "out there" piece of writing but missing the convinction.
That's Tim's music in a nutshell. Crazy, super complicated, yet beautiful and meaningful and always always melodic. I consider Cardiacs The "Beatles" of my generation, just crazier and way more fun. But seriously, I think Tim's compositional prowess is absolutely on level with Lennon/McCartney and in many ways surpasses them. Just different but as great.

I usually hate these types of comments, but for cardiacs i'll make an exception. I've yet to hear a legitimately bad cardiacs song. Some are definitely acquired tastes, they all are fucking amazing.
