1987 I saw the most beautiful girl standing outside the T&C in the rain (waiting to see some other band..) i caught her eye (but no response) once inside she lost her coat and i mine.. We were both in cardiac t shirts .. 12 years later we married.. today we have two grown children..

Being 21 years old, I try not say that I was “born in the wrong generation” because all the good music is gone now or whatever - I like so many of today’s artists. But Cardiacs are the one band that makes me wish I was born earlier. With Tim Smith’s death, it really does put pain to my heart. Tim was a genius! I’m speechless now. R.I.P. to a legend that no one ever knew

I share your thoughts. A beautiful thing is Cardiacs was the seed for many awesome artist nowadays. I actually meet their music because I starting listening Major Parkinson, which became one of my favorite bands ever, and they said Tim was a big influence for them, so I did a research a felt completely in love with the band too. By the way, 100% recommend you to listen Major Parkinson too. :)

If we can get a retelling of Cardiacs history and Tim Smith with Matthew Holness as Tim before it's too late then I would die a happy man. I genuinely feel Holness not only has the look but surely he'd be a fan considering his musical sensibilities and talents that he could do it justice...I just want something to come out to remind people from the time and to educate people of now about this insanely influential yet overlooked group and Tim. Like this song alone, even in it's original '81 format predates and predicts almost every major 80s music trend for pop, synth, rock and everything in between.

When it gets back to doing gigs, I'd love to perform this to honour Tim. I've chosen this song as it's probably the only one of theirs that I could play haha.

I've lost count of the times I say that band back in the day. Brilliant live performers.

kind of a silly video for such a serious sounding song but that makes it more fun i guess. glad I discovered this band!
