Now available on region free DVD (the format is 16:9 PAL) from the Cardiacs webstore. 15 beautiful tracks... will we finally learn the whereabouts of that fucking dog? abc-mary.myshopify.com/collections/dvd/
I ordered and promptly received the DVD about a month back, despite having not purchased physical media in more than 20 years, not to mention not even owning a DVD player! Absolutely no regrets. It arrived in a winter week and I was a sick as a dog, which somehow made it even more satisfying to watch, like sitting in on a fever dream. To my shame, I had never heard Cardiacs until these garage videos were pushed under my nose and I've been joyfully obsessed since. Skill to make one weep, with humor and unique attitude. When the guitarist complains to Tim that he couldn't see because Tim had his eyes closed was just genius! (at least i think that's what he was ranting about...) I must say my favorite off the DVD has become "Pip As Uncle Dick But Peter Spoiled It", but they are all just absolutely brilliant. Thanks ever so much to all involved!!! After all my exploring on youtube, my one genuine question is: What has Jim been up to in the interim? Best wishes to Tim and all the family from Switzerland
Haha some/most (square) people just don't get it. Its alien to them, songs should have a nice chorus and be about love. Be grateful you have great taste in music
by the way, the majority of people wants to listen to a song in ONE tone and possibly with 3-notes riffs. Yes, it's retardation, they have a primitive brain
If you look at the upper left you get the impression that three hundred and seventy seven thousand or so people have watched this video. Sadly, this isn't true. About three hundred and seventy seven of us have watched it roughly a thousand times over fifteen years. Do try to spread the love of Cardiacs if you can though love.
i've heard a damn lot of rock, and its rare to hear anyone really experimenting with the tropes of arrangement this much. a hook will convince me that its going to follow an example like Rush, Devo, or various pop punk sources, and yet, by the end of a measure, i'm being dragged into the realms of the unknosn, suddenly, like a grand surprise. simultaneously soothing and challenging, i imagine y'all draw a rather intellectual music crowd. i'm hearing Zappa now as i type this, but not just borrowed riff, the idea of Zappa. a good chunk of rock history is represented in this one song, and at no point does it truly commit the sin of unoriginality, thrown into stark contrast by this aural legerdemain. i'll be finding a way to give this some airwave spread eventually, the show i cohost right now is basically goth centric. i want to do a show of just wild and wacky variety, this would be a gem for that.
Funny how one of the coolest rock music vids on teh interwebs is basically 4 blokes jamming in a tiny cluttered shed while a dog runs around off its lead and it's pissing it down outside.
trust that, they're one of those rare bands that really take advantage of their age too, it used to be a bunch of really insane young guys, now it's really pissed off old guys
The only thing I can imagine coming close to this is watching J.S. Bach improvise on the church organ back in the early 1700's. What I would have loved to just be there in that rotten shed, only a dog by my side and silently watching this unfold. I wouldn't even have minded some verbal abuse.
wow. this really is tim’s vision come to life. the crazy music is reminiscent of almost every genre including punk, ska, metal, etc. etc. etc. while simultaneously being u like anything i’ve heard before. tim shouting at jim and kavus, unapologetically coughing down the microphone, kavus falling over, the outfits ranging from the big fur coat to just a pair of bills (which i’ve heard were all styled by tim), the messy background filled with wires and all sorts of random objects that gives an atmosphere of chaos, the freakish camera angles, filters and jumpcuts. all of this and so much more culminates into a whirlwind that i find leaves you out of breath and wondering “is this kind of creative freedom even allowed?!”. everyone involved in cardiacs is a complete genius. i’m 15 and so so glad that i’ve discovered cardiacs at such a young age. i can’t wait for my exploration of this magnificent, magnificent band. i love you cardiacs.

'How can they be this good and yet I have never hear of them?!' Cardiacs are a criminally underrated band who have been ignored by the music press simply because it had no idea what box to put them in.. Prog? Punk? Rock? Psychedelic? The truth is, when you are this good it really doesn't matter.

The problem with becoming a fan of Cardiacs is that afterward it's hard to go back to listening to regular music.
Very true but nothing else matters
