Great idea Rabia! We need a directors round table each year! I think that’s one way we can drive change in the industry
Let me tell you Rabia, saas bahu has its audience and thats okay too. The problem is we lack stories of substance on the opposite end. Producers think that the opposite of saas bahu is indie projects like raqeeb se, kabali pulao etc. The opposite of saas bahu would be something like a suno chanda. Look at turkish dramas - the problem is our writers are in fatigue they only know how to write saas bahu with perfection and the rest write projects with a niche audience that may not bring revenue. Revenue will come with a not saas bahu drama if the story has potential and are done intelligently. I know this because i write scripts myself. I have done a lot to pitch them. Ehd e wafa was not saas bahu and again it did well because it was still a story for masses. The problem is we have zero marketing knowledge. If the biggest tv audience is the housewives at home, a even bigger audience are the upcoming generation from ages 15-25. There is no content for them. We see now fairytale doing well why- because finally that audience is being addressed. The problem is we hold directors accountable when in reality the problem is the writers. Our writers lack creativity and when they do something out of the box it has poor execution. Directors can only do so much. Turkish dramas are great example because they perserve their culture while also seeing how stories in the west are being made. What do you think india did in the 90s- all their stories were inspired by movies in the west like DDLJ. Just like there is fast fashion there is fast content and if something is going hit in the west then pakistan needs to hop on that train as well. Romance will always sell. END THE CREATIVE FATIGUE - WE NEED WRITERS..
True I agree with u for example I watch Turkish dramas, Some of Indian, Korean and other countries dramas cuz they fascinate me due to how they portray their cultures. I love how Turkish dramas are full of Packages with Romance, Suspense and Drama, Love how beautifully they portray Islam. There are love triangles but not the main focus and love how we get to see multiple couples in one drama . Kdramas again love how they are beautifully produced. The only Indian drama I watch is Anupama cuz it’s so good I love how each character has its own individual stories. I love dramas where we get to see individual stories rather having to focus main leads story . The only Pakistani dramas I have watched are Haadsa and Udaari.
@@samerahussain999 Same i dont really watch indian dramas because again they lack of substance as well. I prefer turkish because although theyre melodramatic the characters have their own role in bringing the story forward.
Please also mention drama names they have directed in the description. It helps the viewer to be informed if they haven't watched any drama. Thanks :)

Out of all three .. Meesam Naqvi is the most insightful and brave and straightforward as well. Qasim Ali Mureed likes to talk but not not much substance in what he is saying.

Jhok sarkar going very well, why looking only at TRP when good content if well written and directed will be liked. Mere Humsafar was disappointing as helpless female characters are becoming repetitive. Hania is such a strong girl giving her a role where constantly she was helpless and crying getting slapped made me stop watching it. Women getting slapped needs to stop. I know it’s happening in our society but we need to be uplifting the viewer is something that you all need to consider not just TRP. I understand it’s a business but still Jhook sarkar is a good story. It’s not true we loved ullu bare faroqt and raqeeb sae were classic and leave a mark. Still remember them. Please don’t insult women that we like women demeaning roles and women getting slapped.

Pakistan me to writers ka naam to poster pe hota hei India me to writers ka naam tak credits main mention nahi kartey. Kya apko pata hei ab to Alam ye hei ke director khud ko hi writer bana deta hei aur writer mu takta hei ye india ki sinema ke halaat hei.
