Yeah, Captain Slow thing is funny, but James May is actually the hell of a driver who only acts Captain Slow, and maybe doesn't have the competitive spirit. His experience and performance on rally stages, and in rallycross, strongly suggests he would smoke like 99.9% of people who have driver's license if only he wanted to.
@@dishy2304 Well, even professionals crash their cars from time to time, but if you remember, he was fastest at rally cross in his run, untill he crashed. He has some mad skills, especially the rally driving he practiced with Hakkinen. Speaking of being slow, I know of a professional works rally driver from the 70ies, there's even a video on youtube with him, who was assigned to a pilot who kepts shouting at him to drive faster, breake later and so on, because without such, he was off the pace. This might have been because early in his career he had an accident so bad, the g-force alone ripped his shoes off, he went of the wreck barefoot and fainted. But the works team still wanted him, because you go run through a 3500km long rally at reasonable pace, and not wrecking his cars, only he had that back-off attitude, which made him drive slower than he actually could.

The joke is that these guys are on their new show "The Grand Tour" and are no longer hosting top gear since there is new hosts for top gear and because of this, RMP1 suggests that he would rather watch The Grand Tour rather than the new Top Gear because this video has the same hosts as the old Top Gear; That being James May, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond.

The fantastic thing about these segments is how they capture what cars really mean to people and really are more than data on a piece of paper.
If you aren't into cars and just need a runaround to get you to work, go on holiday and so on, all you need is that scoreboard at the end. That tells you the perfect car for you.
If, however, you are into cars, the scoreboard is worthless. It's not about speed and being the fastest or being everything a car can be. It's about how it makes you feel when you drive it.

I'm ok with the new presenters, I don't mind the new format overall but changing the circuit to a mixed surface one in my opinion was a huge mistake; also all the old Top Gear all time lap records are gone.
Why not keep them both to let Stig lap cars on the old circuit?
