Absolutely A-W-E-S-O-M-E Porsche 550 Spyder. That is one of my all time dream cars. I went to the Petersen Museum just before the Corona virus made it's debut and they have a real 550 Spyder there, all original, and it is a crazy cool car. Smaller than I thought it was. My dad bought a 56 VW Beetle back when I was in High School and I got to drive it all the time. I basically shared it with my mother. That car was SO BASIC (barely a heater, no radio, no NOTHING inside it), but it was one of the most fun cars to drive. My girlfriend at the time and I always used it to go places and it was a blast. The 550 Spyder had a lot of the same parts as the beetle at the time, although as everyone knows, Ferdinand Porsche upgraded and modified everything to his liking and the 550 Spyder was born. One of the all time greatest vehicles ever made.
AutoFocus is the content I've been searching for forever. Love how enthusiastic Larry is about the cars he features and the details he shows us. SO GOOD.
Hands down my new favorite channel. Just enough humor with a decently in depth car review. Proper cars being shown as well. Cheers Larry ! Well done sir.
The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. And I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon.
That is the most flawless car I have ever seen in my life. These guys are artists and automotive enthusiasts at the same time. This is by far my favorite build I’ve ever seen. All those modern cars have nothing on this thing. The nostalgia, the craftsmanship, and that Subaru sound 😍😍😍
Such a super beautiful car. From a distance, you would think of a thunderbird/early Vette but , then you realize it's a Porsche, but once you start looking at the details, it is so much more than that. The grey paint makes it feel like a prototype and the finish on the engine and interior is a thing of beauty and craftsmanship.
I really dig what they're doing with the spyders and the 300 SL, and LOVE the styling on the cars, so "in your face" but also subtle in their own way. The money stashes however make me cringe. The car is already a statement, that only breaks the illusion.
tbh I think the sound is quite fitting. I've never thought that the boxer engine ever sounded right in the WRX, I think it actually fits this platform better. It sounds right at home in that Porsche
A beautiful 550 Spyder. Great job done to the car, the detailes are awesome. There's only one thing I would do to this amazing car, it would be: The "Little bastard" paint scheme if you know what I mean
Yeah, his cars are garish, and clearly show cars. They aren't made for driving enjoyment like the description of this video claims. The swaps are not bad ideas, but the execution just misses the mark completely. I don't want to hate too much, because the quality of the build is clearly great, and there's a lot of great work going into the cars. But it's not tasteful.
@@driveshift Lmao don't assume what you don't know. I've been building something for a while but I don't flex it. And no it's not hate, simply the car doesn't feel like it has a character
Sebastian b you haven’t even been able to drive it so to say it lacks character is stupid. Also, you can’t flex what you don’t have. Don’t kid yourself. Full bolt on and a wing doesn’t count as a build.
Agree with you on the gaudy point, the money in the trunk is straight up tasteless. Hardly a collectors car though as the body's come from www.vintagemotorcarsinc.com/. Fear not, no actual 550's have been harmed in the making of this car. 😊
Back in the beginning of Porsche they used Volkswagen flat-four engines. Same cylinder configuration as Subaru. The sound is similar between both Subaru and flat four vw. James Dean died when he wrecked his Porsche Spider into a tree near San Louis Obismo California. The tree is still there and was made into a public memorial spot

damn it Larry is killing it with the content. I never thought Larry Chen + Hoonigan would literally be one of the best decisions EVER. Props
HELLISH you ain’t wrong! His auto focus is the best channel I 🤔
Now we only need him to tell us his Metadata.
Hell yes!
And he is doing it dressed like an 74 year old man on his first safari.

Way to go guys! Such a gorgeous car and so happy to be a part of it!
larry is such a legend, this show is legit better than ANY car show on TV right now and in past 10 years.... keep killing it larry and hoonigan
6:39 I hope everyone realizes that's the exact same cap as the fuel tank on the original 935. This dude went to some lengths...
Legend has it that it takes over 200 lbs of force to remove Larry's hat from his head. Pretty much the sword in the stone.

Anyone else getting "fear and loathing in las vegas" vibes from Larry?
We were just outside of Barstow, when the drugs kicked in...
16:08 when the mescaline takes effect

My blood is too thick for Nevada. I'd never be able to properly explain myself in this climate. Name, rank, press afiliation.
AaaaaHaha ...

This channel is my favorite out of anything I enjoy watching. Just simply inspirational!
"real subtle" jesus what does this guy call ostentatious?
I guess Larry will be adding some earplugs to his camera bag from now on.
This is easily one of my all time favourite build. This guy made me want to have my own 550 spyder project car. Mad respect, thank you for the video
Gorgeous car. But the most impressive thing is how that hat stayed on his head?!!!?
Only because it had a chin strap.😂
Sun hat FTW

Stunning! That is something to be proud of! Alan, your vision is impeccable! I hope you enjoy it for years to come!
i respect it. very gaudy though. i’d be a fool to not appreciate the detail.
seasoakedperversion it’s not gaudy for OC but you’re not wrong

Really crass and vulgar...this guy must be dumb enough to think rappers are cool lol...Shame.
This shop makes some all time classics, love their work
I hope to see more S Klub builds on here, their craftsmanship and attention to detail is top notch. I could stare at that engine bay all day.
i have a sf forester 2001 ej 205 with the same turbo - yes starts working 1,500 rpm - runs to 7,200 rpm any time ! great .
back when Subaru were good.
@@Dockhead the motor has changed in years lol
That has got to be one of the most cleanest one-off Porsches that ever existed. Nice job Larry.
Those HRE's are timeless. Another wheel that looks good on almost anything.
S-Klub L.A did it again work of Art a true master Piece
You cover so many stupendous cars. But it must be mentioned that your productions are stupendous in and of themselves.
Thank you
That is one of the most beautiful death traps I've ever seen.
This is phenomenal! So much craftsmanship packed in this thing. And as always Larry, the photos look absolutely amazing
One of the coolest builds I've seen on here. I love the attention to detail. Would have to view it a thousand times to even begin to see everything
This is automotive jewelery with an attitude. Love it.
Beautiful car, but spare me the artist steampunk, cash, actuator kitsch.
Needs a tractor flap on the exhaust :)
Cletus you have your own channel...
tbh I think the sound is quite fitting. I've never thought that the boxer engine ever sounded right in the WRX, I think it actually fits this platform better. It sounds right at home in that Porsche
Its official. Larry Chen has the coolest job on the planet.
Love the uncommon motor choice. It's reliable when built properly
Larry Chen = Awesome
Larry Chen bankrolled by Hoonigan = Loads of awesome content
That thing is SWEET! I agree with some of the others regarding the money stash thing but it's hidden under the hood at least. Great looking car!
Money is just for shits and giggles.. not real money..
Man, thought that was Nate Diaz when I first saw him.
Crazy car! Love it.
I love these speedsters. Makes me want to save for one of the fiberglass recreations and slowly build it.
It isn`t a Speedster,it`s a Spyder.
That outro was a fantastic representation of what you do and I think you should consider making it your intro. Cheers!
I swear, you review the most FIRE cars ever 👌
Comin in L8, but 16:34, hahahha! Dude was so worked! That thing is beast.
Larry has more good buddies than anyone in the world.
i’ve been waiting months to see and hear this beautiful build driven. finally!!!!!
Loven the blue/ turquoise. Little better then the orange, brown, copper look!
That Box of cash is absolutely hilarious. Love car, love the build, very nice work!
I love how the dash flows with car.
So far, this is the best car channel of 2020!!! Keep the content coming...
Your whining about turbo noise was very distracting...wanted to see what the 550 could really do throttlewise
how meny times does larry say oh my god and its amazing per episode
Meny, meny times.
Americans talk like that
@@paddy19656 😂😂😂😂
Very Dope Build
My dream garage would be Tyler Powell's Datsun Fairlady 240 Z06, Wrx Swapped Porche spyder, Subaru 22b.
This channel should have 10 million subs already dammit
Lots of respect to the builder, but the digital dash is really the lazy way out and doesn’t fit the rest of the aesthetic of the build.
had to use it with the haltec ecu he had to use to make the motor work.
@@1wrexx didn't have to use it at all. Any old analogue gauge will work with a tach signal, which I'm sure the fancy Haltech ECU can produce.
TMM exactly, not hard at all to wire outputs to some nice analog gauges.
I went with the digital dash so I can monitor everything going on with the engine since its highly modified..
@@smokedoggcustoms195 makes sense
The attention to detail is unbelievable! So classic looking yet modern as f##k!
I've been WAITING for a video on this bad ass build! So neat and clean! 😍😍😍😍
Thanks for bringing great content Larry and also to the hoonigan crew, by the way what’s the song at the end of this video? it’s super cool!
Ever find an answer?
Cool updated classic SPYDER 😎
Now that is what I call a car.
Amazing build! Props to the builder. But I can’t stop thinking about it with a Porsche flat 6 screaming
With a proper exhaust this would be even better.
The montage at the end is fire :)
It's like a sport motorcycle. Wind, noise...so cool!
What a machine!!! Pure masterpiece!
larry's hat is the highlight during the drive!
I like that they kept a flat engine in it albeit a Subaru one.
Great built! Those guys are so talented!
Imagine when it rains and then the weather gets it wrong
My man smokin a joint and cruisin in a fine ass car. Mad Respect!
Wow! Beautiful, stunning, amazing & inspiring... badass highly functional art in loco motion!!
Song at the end please!!!
didnt know nate diaz was into swaps lol.
LOL it's called a Stockton swap. 😂
i was thinkin he looked like travis ishikawa
That is pure cool.
Cool build. Can't say i like the colors, but a very cool build.
Floppy hats not allowed.
That thing is wrong in all the right ways, " I put in a subaru for reliability" Hahah its so perfect. Channing Tatum builds nice cars
damn all the Subaru ive seen in the past go on the scrap, apart from the foresters.
It's a JDM, A Japanese motor: In other words it's a Junkyard motor shipped here on a barge. God I love these motors !!!
Superb review, I’d be great full to know what camera set up you’re using?
Another really beautiful car. That rear end especially is so clean.
A beautiful 550 Spyder. Great job done to the car, the detailes are awesome. There's only one thing I would do to this amazing car, it would be: The "Little bastard" paint scheme if you know what I mean
I dont know why but everytike i see this guy’s build. The car doesn’t seem like it has a soul
I feel the same vibe tbh

These episodes are awesome, great shit Larry!
I wonder if it's loud in the pasenger side? Larry never mentioned it so not sure.
Engine bay was far more aggressive than I was expecting!!!
So beautiful
The day Larry needed a snapback instead of a bucket hat.
She clean, can't even lie
Just when I thought I had seen it all -Wow !
Man i love these guys and there builds!
Love it! Thought that was Nate Diaz!
Thanks Larry. Great video. Entertaining content. Pretty photography.
Is the turbo right next to his head?
The detail on this build is great, but it feels really gaudy with the blue accents and a $2k subie motor in a 3.6 million dollar collectors car
GuidedPrism [G.E.W.P] ehh all the stuff done to that motor on top of it being a 207 it probably cost around $20-25k
Agree with you on the gaudy point, the money in the trunk is straight up tasteless. Hardly a collectors car though as the body's come from www.vintagemotorcarsinc.com/. Fear not, no actual 550's have been harmed in the making of this car. 😊
Yeah that guy is the definition of " rich douchebag "

Yeah why have a 2 million dollar car if it cant go faster than 30mph up a hill

GORGEOUS BEAST!!!
Not a fan of the colour combination, but man, it is stunning.
