      Autogefühl Hello! I would like to ask about this new polo 2018 1.0 cc 115hp. This version has 115hp > 5.500 rpm
      And 200 Nm > 2.000 - 3.500 rpm. Do you think that will be a noisy car in a slow vitesse?

    Great review. I ordered this car in grey color, 1.0 TSI 95hp, and added some simple things like App Connect, Back camera (it's just cool), Las Minas 16'' wheels. Looks clean, simple and beautiful. This car it's prettier than my favorite Golf... Can't wait to get my hands on it.

    The biggest progress of the new VW Polo are the design of the front and of the interior.😍 Furthermore I really enjoy the infotainment and assistant system options. For my own use the new Polo is the better VW Golf 💪
    Of course my favorite Polo is the GTI with 200hp but I think the R-Line package also fits perfectly. Maybe the new Polo gets the best GTI because this car is very compact. Can`t wait for another great review of the GTI ;) 👍

    Nice long review, worth to check it out! :)
    But i want to ask if you can test the GTi version soon? I have plan to buy it as soon as possible, but it's lots of talk about what fuel consumption really is from "old golf gti V" engine, and if it has seven or six DSG variant. And of course if it has same normal quality interior as this cheap version, or if it has more premium for higher price. But no one test this verison for now. So is there chance to see driving review from you? Thanks, have a good day.

    Ithink the ride is bad because of the 17" wheels. On the standard 15s i can imagine it being quite plush.

    Well done AJ. Considering how much larger this car is then before, it's a bit baffling that they didn't bring it over to NA. Seems like VW will always think less of us on this side of the world. :(
    Edit: The connection you had in the car was only on 3G and not 4G/LTE, which definitely explains the slowness to the CarNet information.

      I know that's their argument, and to some extent it's true - but there's no way (if it was priced right) that it wouldn't take away sales from the Fit, Sonic, Fiesta and other in the class too.

    Nearly into Golf territory with a bit more pizzazz and charm. Interior is a really nice place to spend driving with those vibrant color options and various fabric choices. Thinks it's main rival in terms of sales would be the T-Roc which is basically a jacked-up Polo with the same colorful treatment/options and since a lot of people globally are into anything that's an SUV.

    Awesome review! I'm planning on getting this as my first company car which I'm allowed to use privately as well. I will choose the digital instrument panel and 7 speed DSG with paddles, with the 94hp TSI engine. Pretty psyched as this will be my first car in my own possession (even for a limited time)! :D

    The 'Pistol' looks like a P for Polo.
    As with Golf and Leon the Seat is by far more fun to drive but I'd take the Polo for much better interior styling and better resale value.

    If you need adaptive cruise control to keep you safe,perhaps you should consider whether you are paying enough attention to your driving? If you're not,maybe for the sake of your life you should!

    I hope some day soon you will compare the driving REFINEMENT of the VW Polo with the Ford Fiesta, particularly in terms of road and wind noise. My priority is a quiet motorway cruiser.

      The Ibiza interior was poor in comparison to the Fiestas. Drove both this week. Unfortunately i didn't see the polo live. Ibiza by far is bad quality in comparison to the Fiesta. See both live. You will see what I mean.

      Yes, i know. I was only referencing the huge problems such warning gave to my father's old Polo. But of course, in this review the engine wasn't running yet. Wasn't for lowering the expectations on the car, i quite like the design of it. By the way, great review!

    The 1.5 150KM doesn't get the VGT or Miller-cycle. Those weird features are only present in the 130KM variant. 150KM variant however gets questionable aluminium cyliders sprayed with very thin layer of steel instead of classic steel sleeves as in any other VW engine. Unfortunately both of them get cylinder deactivation. So no matter which variant you choose - there are a lot of gimmicks to fail ;)

    Thanks AJ, excellent review (as expected.. :-).
    Most of this car is more or less expected, too. But what stands out for me, in a negative sense, is the hard plastics on the doors. Uncomfortable for those, who like to put their arm (elbow) on top of the door. And I have to say it looks cheap. The rear door is even worse. It's a pity, because the rest looks just fine to me!
    The second thing that stands out for me is the fact the suspension seems to be rather firm. Another bad choice by Volkswagen, I think. Maybe the adjustable suspension, that seems to be an option, may help with that though?

      Hi Aditya - Excellent Review. Thanks. I agree with Gerard's well chosen summary. Shame about hard and cheapened door plastics; and ride. Shame you need the expense of the "adaptive suspension" option on a small car like this. And is it a DCC system - ie does it have an actual separate 'comfort' setting on the Mode switch, like a DCC, or just two suspension settings in a menu? Kind regards AJ.

      Hi Gordon, thanks for the feedback. there were two suspension settings in the custom driving mode selector, normal and sport. The normal was fine while the sport was a bit stiff. and i think we would need to test the car in more conditions before we can be completely sure. I would suggest you test drive it around some rough bumpy roads to see how it comes across to you. perhaps we will get the chance to test the polo again and we can put it through some more tests to see how the suspension performs.

    Great review AJ but I'm not a fan of 3 cylinder engines. This Polo has reinforced that view. Three cylinder engines are not about improving driving for motorists, it's all about manufacturers having to reduce their overall emission targets. It's four cylinder motors for me only.

      Sean Og I have owned the previous generation Polo for 6 years and just test drove this new one and I did notice that the new Polo was louder and ride was a bit harsher.

    You are talking about that it's like a black hole in there. Now we are going to order the R-line with full black interior and panoramic roof. This will bring more light into the car. You think it will still be to dark in there ? I don't care about the backseats and I think in front there will be enough light to compensate the dark interior.

    September 2024 here. The Polo is still a beautiful car, even with the midlife updates. Still plastiky.
    As VW is in deep financial trouble, I'm not sure when (or if) there will be a new Polo.

    Very good Review. I ordered the Fiesta St Line over the Ibiza and the Polo after a few Test Drives between Ibiza and Fiesta. Too much plastic inside Ibiza and Polo Interior. St Line feels way better to Drive too.

    Thanks for the review. One question: The Ibiza has adaptive suspension (as far as I know there are 3 or 4 options...), what about the Polo?

      Okay, maybe you could just make a non scientific Windnoise scale and tireroll scale :) so rate a car from F-A+ :) for me noise is very important in how comfortable I find a car

    Between the Ibiza and the Polo? Polo wins on looks alone. You have to live with the car so worth shelling out extra for. And it'll hold its value better than the Ibiza.

    That car really needs a light coloured headlining. Its like a dark hole in there.

    The door panels are very cheap made. In the Ibiza the front door panels have cloth or leatherette inlays at the Xcellence/FR trim - result -> the Ibiza has the higher quality door panels. The back doors are the same cheap materials as the Polo, but the Ibiza is a SEAT, the Polo is a VW.

    Much of a muchness between this and the Ibiza. You soon get used to minor differences after a couple months of ownership. One thing I feel is that the more styling fillips, the sooner a car looks dated. Older VW's hold their value a bit better than other brands because stylistically they don't change as dramatically from generation to generation. They just look like VW's. SEAT's on the other hand - you don't have to pay as much attention to see the difference between generations. You see right away: ''Oh, that's last year's model''. But you pay for that percieved timelessness...So, as the reviewer says, it's all up to personal taste, financing, dealership, etc.

    The relation of engine power and the type of the rear brake is funny :) So for the next emergency brake or when driving down some mountain roads it's just natural to accept a longer braking distance. Because hey, it took me longer to accelerate to the exact same speed, why should I need the same brake performance as the stronger engine.

    Never understand why car reviewers always like to find fault with the hard plastic doors in entry level model cars. Find me one entry level car where it has soft touch material. If this is standard across all cars for this class, stop that annoying knocking all over the door like this video.

    Ich hatte eine Idee wie ihr euer Format noch interessanter gestalten könntet. Vielleicht ist es möglich bei den zukünftigen Reviews auch noch näher auf das Thema Umwelt, Schadstoffe (NOx, CO2) etc. einzugehen. Das würde der aktuell heiß diskutierten Debatte bzgl. Dieselskandal vielleicht im kleinen gut tun, denn wie wir alle wissen, sind nicht alle Diesel dreckig und auch (noch) nicht alle E- Autos sauber. Ich würde mich sehr über eine Antwort freuen.

    I like your Reviews, but would nevertheless like to see the Infotainment unit in more Detail. I know your guys see this in different cars but people that watch Reviews are probably buying that car and want to see it in that specific car.

    The hard plastic door panel is honestly unacceptable in a car of this price. Maybe in the base trim, but anything above that needs a soft one. You put your elbow there FFS!
    And that just about sums up the car.
    They spent a lot of money where nobody gives a crap (soft dashboard), but put hard plastic where matters (even the armrest is hard in the back, which is a joke), the standard equipment is laughable, the car is expensive, and you get drum brakes on the engines people will buy.
    We don't have the official price list of the Polo yet, but when matching a Ford Focus and a Seat Ibiza spec for spec, the Focus comes out to be cheaper with 40 more hp. That is a joke.
    Good thinking, VW!

    I drove a Polo like this one a while ago. I was disappointed. I couldn't feel any interaction with the wheels. It felt like the wheels was disconnected from the steering wheel. In my 10 year old Golf GT sport I can point the car where I want it and it goes there. I feel in control of the car. In comparison this Polo feels like something your granddad would drive
