This was Amaze. Just grabbed a 2000 MkIV (for drum hailing). Only came with a single key. Got a second, new key, and the company was great. They even cut it for me and copied the immobilizer, all for under 70 bucks total. Only thing I can't seem to find/figure out is how to get the remote part working for the keyless entry/hatch release, etc.. I am assuming the remote portion must have something to do with it being synced to the car using the Key~in~ignition method.. so will try this next. ( Had to do this with original key after the batteries rusted out. All fixed now).. Hoping the same can work with this new one. Anyway, Cheers man, This was super helpful. Best! 3:40 The pin code should have been issued to the original purchaser of the vehicle. This came in the form of a paper tag encased in a plastic protective sleeve, about the same length as the key fob. Mine was handed to me when I was given the 2 new factory fobs and the valet key. Also, if you have the original OEM owner's manual, there's a section that shows what the pin code tag looks like. If you're buying one of these cars used, ask for and expect to receive this tag, the same way you would expect to receive the keys. If they can't provide it, use this as a negotiating point on the price of the car. Buying the car without this very small tag is like buying the car without keys. Don't let it happen.

Okay I have a question. I bought a BRAND new FOB for my MK4. The only reason I’m going through this trouble is because my OEM fob is worn out. Now the newly purchased fob has an immobilizer chip of its own and I want to program it to my car. The part of the video where you put 3 keys in the VCDS program, do I put 1? Since I only have 1 key for the car. (Previous owner lost the others)
I stopped @3:54 because at this point, I realized that my problem is solved. I bought a key fob case, I transferred the remote key board thinking that it contains the immobilizer. Silly me! and kept on trying to adapt it,....... ya right that's funny. Thank you for this wonderful post.
I found most scan tools including VCDS won't let you login to a system2 immo if there are any outstanding fault codes, so if you have any of the common VAG problems central locking, aircon, etc you may need to get it fixed before you can code a key. Remote fob coding not a problem though.
I just reprogrammed the immobilizer my mk4 manually! VW Jetta 2002. Manual Programming. I think this works on many models and years. there is another slightly different procedure for programming the locks but no computers needed. 1) Unlock the door to your car using the key blade 2) Insert your old key blade into the ignition and turn it to the "on" position, but do not start the car. 3) Roll down your driver's side window 4) Step out of the car and insert your new key into the driver's door lock, now turn the key to the left and hold it in that position for 10 seconds. let go. 5) Now press the lock button on the FOB 6) Now press the unlock button on the FOB The car should blink its flashers or beep, letting you know that programming is now complete. I have seen 2001 and older cars that this did not work on. If the microswitch in the driver's door lock is broken, this method will not work.
@@kogunae I should probably re answer this post. It did work but then it didn't so yes for the starting the car either switch the chip over or re program using a computer.
@@kogunae Yes the first day it worked fine but the next day it started only for a few seconds, so I guess I have to hit my friend the locksmith. If its not even turning over, that would be a different problem. But we are talking MK4
This does not make your old key transponders not work anymore? I read somewhere that when you rest the system the old transponders no longer work because it cannot rewrite them again after system has been cleared?? Can anything make your immobilzier not work? I have been having issues with my car starting. I have been using my reg flip key and valet key. Sometimes one works and then won't and vise versa. I got a new ignition switch, and a key ring sensor. It started fine with the reg flip key for 3 days and now it wouldn't start for 4 days. Took it back to the shop and it only didn't start once. The code that shows when mine starts and shuts off is the car light with the key that you showed. Do you have any idea what it could be? VW GLS Golf 2006 2.0. Any advise would be extremely helpful. VAG EEPROM programmer retrieves these. Also VAG tacho. You need the appropriate diagnostic cable though. There are rumors that EEPROM programmer works with the same VAG COM / VCDS 4.09 cable, but it should be FTDI chip based and not Chinese CH341 chip based.

Very important to state which year your car is since there are at least 3 different versions of immobilizer for Mk4. My PIN code is unknown, dealer only stressed Radio code to me when I bought the car 21 years ago, he didn’t say a thing about the immobilzer 2 PIN.
The dealer should have issued a physical pin code encased in a plastic sleeve when you bought the car new. He should have handed this to you when he gave you the 2 new key fobs, the valet key, and owner's manual. I'm the original owner of a 2004 GTI VR6. My car dealership handed me all of these things and stressed how important it is to keep the pin code tag.

Yes. All the info is in your cluster. Its always waiting to pair with its mate( a blank key) you need a scan tool and your pin code( youll have to researce that part) then pair them together. A mobile auto locksmith guy could do it for about 50 bucks
You have to use a "VAG TACHO" Tool to retrieve your "PIN NUMBER". It is a 4 digit code, but when you are programming your new keys, you have to enter a ZERO first. The Vag Tacho can be rented, but they require a $500.00 Deposit, which is refunded when the get their tool back.
$200 to my papal account and i will tell you. It's been a year so you've probably figured it out. vag commander and instrument cluster dump will reveal this deep dark secret that everyone's been hiding from you.

My ignitions switch turns half way forward and won’t start my car 2011 Jetta se. When turning the key it does let me move the steering wheel, but the key doesn’t turn all the way back to the off position and let’s me take the key out. If I replaced just the ignition switch do I have to recode the key or reprogram anything else afterwards? Anybody had that problem? All the videos about replacing ignition switch doesn’t mention any of that. Thank you guys.
Ignition switch replacement doesn't require reprograming as it's just a simple inexpensive switch with electrical contacts. Replacing the Ignition Lock requires reprograming the Throttle Position module with VAG software or your car will start but run for only a couple seconds, just like an Immobilizer failure.

Why did glow plugs symbol also flashing as well of immobilizer symbol flashing?

Too late I know but if you had dealer reprogram the missing key wont work ...it would unlock but not start it.

If I replaced just the ignition switch do I have to recode the key or reprogram anything else afterwards? Anybody had that problem? All the videos about replacing ignition switch doesn’t mention any of that. Thank you guys.
Ignition switch replacement doesn't require reprograming as it's just a simple inexpensive switch with electrical contacts. Replacing the Ignition Lock requires reprograming the Throttle Position module with VAG software or your car will start but run for only a couple seconds, just like an Immobilizer failure.
