I have to say that I didn't expect you to end up having a pretty decent, polite and adult conversation with these people, judging from the failed attempts in the past to try to get past the 'I cant speak English' part. This group must be the better ones of most of those I've seen in HP. Well done to you when I finally heard them say 'thanks for explaining and we understand now'. I actually saw a male adult stopping his kid from mimicking the guard's march whilst you were speaking with the ladies. ❤

Well done, John in your diplomatic way of educating these tourists. Hope they pass on what they've learnt to their friends.
Goodness, we wouldn't go to Israel and make fun of their military! Absolutely not and unbelievable previously they thought it ok to do to our soldiers. They especially should show respect bearing in mind what happened in history .... need I say more.

    • @AveCaesar2025
      @AveCaesar2025 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

It isn't only the UK military unfortunately. There are videos of ''tourists'' making fun of the Greek guards, RCMPs and the Swiss Guard at the Vatican. They seem to think anyone that even vaguely resembles characters from disney or hollyweird must be an actor or a tourist attraction. And then others ''justify'' it online by claiming they should dress like proper soldiers [unfortunately often from a country NOT in Europe/Africa/bits in between] and who would go to war dressed like that. I hope it is ignorance, I suspect it is stupidity mixed with a certain amount of superiority - especially at present - thinking their country leads the way and everyone should follow suit.

What a wonderful, interesting, and respectful video. I traveled a lot as a child, including the Middle East. My appearance always taught me to be respectful of other people and their customs. Sadly today, as you know, respect has fallen by the wayside. I haven't been able to follow for a while, and have missed seeing my favorite horses (Ormonde, Lyric, Q10, Thor, etc.). Thank you so much for letting me visit London when I can't be there in person).

Your conversation with this group was very valuable. As a Jewish (not orthodox) person, I am aware that the very orthodox Jews live rather cloistered lives. I personally believe thats why their social interactions that we've seen at Horse Guards have been so strange. I was very happy that this group really tried to listen and understand what you were telling them. In Israel, Orthodox Jewish men had been exempt from serving in the military, but that's recently changed.

I wonder now, John, why they didnt have all these ‘rules’ put up in the first place. It is such a different atmosphere not having people crowd and touch the horse or the reigns! Makes for a much more gentle watch. However, there are still ‘those’ who need to do better…..obviously! Thank you again for your time and effort. Best channel for horse guards!!!! Love from America.

Interesting conversation John! That group was pleasant, and really genuinely seemed to want to learn. They are from Israel. I think maybe they realize & have more respect for the military than the ones in London. 🤷 Mainly because the military is an important part of the culture in Israel. Hopefully tho, the ones who live in London will see this and learn. They were quite pleasant. I don't think they totally understand, but at least they were willing to listen.

As I said yesterday, John, you are the most wonderful unofficial ambassador of Horse Guards. Given the chance, as you were by this lovely family, you are able to explain the workings of HGs, its history and its need for respect and hopefully, admiration.
I knew that you felt defensive at the beginning of the conversation, expecting the worst (as we’ve seen at times) followed by a relaxed explanation of the gatesman’s duties. They were genuinely interested and engaging and seemed to understand your conversation. You truly were able to turn their visit around in the right direction, stopping the ridicule of the guard.
The clown prince of Spain was a different story entirely. He should have been tossed out by the MOD officers.
Did you attempt to speak to him after the video ended?
    With love & admiration always,
    Lynn in Michigan USA

That conversation only went the way it did John because of your calm demeanour. The women approached you in a slightly hostile way asking if you were taking pictures of her daughter/children. They are very self entitled people but as I said because of your calm demeanour you educated them in their behaviour and how disrespectful that they were being. Big clap and hug from Australia John.

agreed, cold wins out as you can always put on MORE clothing, and the amount you can take off legally in summer is limited!

There were a group of these tourists in Paphos airport, a few months ago. The kids were running riot and the parents took no notice of their children behaviour. The kids need educating, so do the parents

I am hoping that some higher up official will see these videos on how well people who are following you speak so highly of you.
I am hoping something is there for an opening of some sort for you to continue this role, in a way that you will have an audience talking to face to face as well as with us what is the important role of history and tradition.
I have said this a few times and it speaks volumes to different people when we follow you on your tours. I realised that is not just with the subtitles for anyone but the language they speak at home change from english to whatever. As a newbie I don't know much about that language changing, it is a really big thing for me someone who has compassion for others and a big thing when they think outside the box knowing the it bring not just non english speaking / hearing impaired or deaf people but it is to share what knowledge you have and you have a really big heart that goes with your conscience to whatever you say about the running of this military establishment. Please correct me if I am wrong in the name as I keep forgetting if it's called something else. If it is I will try my best to have it down somewhere and try to remember. You have a beautiful gift that just shows how nuch you love your country and especially live in a country where you can visit here whenever you can.
So glad I found you and everybody, I am up for learning and try to remember. This is the one that really ticks all my boxes.
Subtitles weren't invented back when I watch tv / or go to movies. It's the best invention since sliced bread. Not a lot of people think outside the box , no compassion for other people in what would benefit us to follow, only in how much money is this going to bring in.
You bring out the best in us John as well .
    Take care.

    What a lovely Respectful Family.
If only they were all like them,
You defiantly sorted those Brainless Morons Out.
Brains of a Gnat and I’m insulting the Gnat🤨
The Guard looked grateful for your intervention .
I’m still unsure Why the MOD Police didn’t intervene.
Thank you once again for your Brilliant Videography
    John,👍🏻

Considering her opener was "Are you filming my kids?" it went rather well in the end ... 😂

Yes the first thing that came into my mind was
      (Here we go again )🤨
Thank goodness she agreed with your excellent in-depth explanation
They obviously have true family values, that is sadly uncommon with some egoistical family’s these days.🤨

It was a great way to explain the job of the guards and your comparison to the Israelis soldiers there are a lot of them there, especially in large tourists area. My opinion of this culture has been negative in their constant disrespect to everyone. ..❤👍💂‍♂️👍

These people are making a bad example for their children. Now they want to act innocent for mocking the guards.
