But in watching further, I saw that he was directing them to the outside of a boundary zone that he has set. I saw in another (short) video that they’ve painted a white line boundary (box shaped) on the sidewalk/walkway that comes out from the entrance to the horse boxes. I’m assuming that will be the new restricted area that no one will be allowed to step into and get close enough to touch the horses anymore. If so, I’m all for it!
Much respect to the Kings Guard in the first half of the video, keeping the tourists in line with the no touching rule. You can see there are tourists that are in two minds about doing it anyway! It must be stressful trying to do your job, avoid those tourists that put themselves in harms way and keep your horse and yourself safe!
This guard is the kind faced guard..He just stands out to me .Even with his facial hair his smiling eyes give him away lol. They all have kind faces, this face is more pronounced to me. Lol😊

There should be a way to limit the number of people that visit the guards & horses. The horses get too stressed when a crowd gather around them. Put the horses safety front and center.

If you have ever seen any footage of these horses having a meltdown, then you should appreciate that. One of these horses typically weighs at least ½tonne, and could sustain serious injury to itself and its rider, not to mention any tourist standing next to any barrier, if it was thrashing around in a panic in a confined area. Additionally, Whitehall is a public thoroughfare and permanent barriers would not be allowed by Westminster Council.

Honest question-can tourists stand before and pose or film the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown? At Arlington? Can you pull up on a guard gate to a military base and ask to pose or film? This is so damn out of hand. The first duty of the day starts at 10 am last ends at 4 pm for the mounted Troopers who change hourly . At the most a horse will do 3 one hour duties a day but not always sometimes a different horse will replace them . The two regiments alternate duties changing every two days so the same guards and horses aren't on duty every day . Yes they are staying at Horse Guards while on duty then return to Hyde Park Barracks .

It's got nothing to do with the Royal Family or the Troopers. It's the tourons who are the main problem by mauling them. They are working. How would YOU like someone mauling you when you're at work? They are not mistreated or stressed either also, they have Vets on hand to look after them. Also, when the weather gets too hot they're taken back into the Stables. Cruelty to Animals? Not a chance.

Thanks for your reasoning. Makes sense to me. Horses often have melt downs when pressured.
