I’d love to see this test done again with proper foams in the cheap tires just to see how well they actually compared.
my take away is the two best tires are not running stock foams.

Thanks for the info. Looks like it is time to add another block to the ramp as the tires are getting better.
Tusks have a lot of run time and are well broken in and the antifoams made it an easy win for them.

Next time get rid of the glaze on the proline tires before you test them good video though.
It should wear off instantly on those blocks. The proline compound just isn't as good as some of the others on the ramp. Any tire test on the ramp proline sucks.
Yeah i wanna know if they would’ve done any better or worse. I think j concepts still is the king of rubber compound. The RC4WD are deceiving because they were absolutely terrible in my experience. Yet they climb up his ramp pretty easily.
@@WickedRC rc4wd tires have always been great for me. Their compound is super soft and gummy!
@@rc-daily yeah they’re definitely soft. Just no comparison to my tusks. Maybe it’s my terrain but the RC4WD’s slipped on everything.

I think the Sweep Racing Tri Lug should’ve been added to this comp, or I’d like to see a test done on them at some point. Either way, great video. They are almost identical to these.

Unless these tires all have the same inserts and are ran at the same RPM, this can't be an accurate comparison. All tires would also need to be fresh out of package and on the the same wheel style (so that the wheels weigh the same) worn in tires can have a huge affect on performance as well.
Why would you test them fresh out the package? That’s a horrible way to test their ability. Test them with equal amount of wear- say a 10 second burnout on concrete or something. That better represents real-world capability.
@@boost1728 the initial performance shouldn't be overlooked, I agree a broken in state is an important comparison as well. My point was the inconsistent variables in the test.
Another great test Joe. Looking forward to the foam test...although I know it will be time consuming swapping foam in and out. I have the RC4WD tires and they climb well on the granite around here but as you mentioned the outer lugs do fold over very easily. I will try the Pro line Baja Pro Xs and see how they do on the same rocks. Thanks again!
I love my rc4wd ones.. but a sticky tire is supposed to b soft. The truck 1:1 rock bouncers r soft. But at first I had my doubts on the rc4wd ‘s till they broke in.. then it was a game changer! But im going to get the prolines in 2.2’s and the squid inserts

Nice Job! I have several sets of the rc4wd and love them. I run the proline dual stage foams in mine and the work great. Id be interested to see how of if the performance changes with the prolines after they are broken in a bit. What I really like about these tires are the width and the ability to clear out the treads. Although the tusk is similar I think it might have a slight advantage over with the lug size being a bit smaller. Either way great work!

As popular as the Baja pro x tires are and with the knock offs available. I'd love to see a test with just the Baja wheels with all the same foams and rims. Awesome video nonetheless 👏 👌
I'd like to see the same test using a hobbywing fusion pro setting your remote to barely crawl and using the same foams in all the tires.Oh and add the rc4wd baja claws into the mix. Thanks great video
Granted I do think the foam is playing a huge role here. But I remember when you first tested the RC4WD Mickey Thompson's and I immediately ran out bought a set to have horrible luck, they didn't last but about a month before they had multiple holes and tears in them. They didn't hold a candle to the stock tires that came on my TRX6. And that was with Proline dual stage Foams at the time. I swapped to Ruptures and the truck has been amazing since. Kinda wanted the Prolines to be the new Rupture but I don't think that's the case.

I bought the RC4WD versions after they won the ramp test in your other video. For me here in Utah, they are the worst tires I've ever bought. Regardless of what foams I tried in them they wouldn't hook on anything, but they were worth a try. The Tusks have been an amazing tire right out of the package, not even needing time to break in. Just got a set of the Proline G8s and the jury is still out on those. So far so good, but I'm not sure that they're going to outdo the Tusks in competition. The Prolines are pretty wide so plan on having to get the extra rings from 3Brothers to get them to fit right and not slide around in the tire.
Yeah I was shocked they won the ramp test. Seems to be the only thing they’re good at.
@@ExocagedRC SL3D.RC is going to be making Squid'n'serts for the Proline version as soon as he can get some. Harder to get a set in Montana I guess.
I’ve just recently bought a set of proline G8 Krawlers after having the proline KM3’s and hyrax’s in predator and some JConcepts tires in green compound and the JConcepts far and away have better traction here in Missouri than any proline. And recently I feel buying the G8’s we’re a mistake. They just don’t hook where I expect them to like the predator tires and J concepts. Even my RC4WD tires do better than the G8 tires. For me it’s JConcepts> proline predator> RC4WD> G8 and then stock/RTR tires and knock offs.
Also ran SL3D and crawler innovations dual stages in all those tires.
I'm honestly surprised the proline tires didn't do better. I was hoping they would be an upgrade from the rc4wd ones
They don't have the same foams and aren't broken in
all tires are make in a mold with a blend of butyl rubber . they have to be sprayed with a silicone mold release or they will stick to the mold . all tires need to be prepped no matter what to get the mold release off . there are tons of ways to prep them for use . i use a axle that i cut in half . put in a drill and spin tire slow .with a toothbrush add some alcohol then take a green Scotch-Brite and put some pressure on it till use can see the tire come clean .
I like the comparison. The new tires still had a shine to them. i wonder if that would give it a negative effect
Not sure. The tread area has to be ok though right?
@@ExocagedRC New tires usually have some kind of release agent on them . With drag tires, there is some prep work to be done before they work properly. If you don't they spin and don't hook up.

I'd like to see these tests done all running the same exact wheels since wheel weight can make a difference and each one running the foams they come with.
still the best tire was black mamba there and here is fling king 1.9 front and mud slinger 1.9 on 2.2 g made air rims with water in them . the pro x with foam did even come close . before those rims bb gun bbs work incredable ! no matter what the wider 2.2 wheel all ways works better . working on bolts threw tread now because in the real world nothing beats superatv assassinator tires with 3/4 bolts double nutted in the tires . used to run 5/8 double diamond tire chains but they are 4 grand !

Nice video, I’ve been waiting for you to do that test, ever since you shown those new prolines. I am already drooling over those just for the looks. I have 1 truck in mind with a brand new body, that would look awesome with those proline tires. I have to wait for the predator compound though. Right now it has ruptures on it, and I don’t want to loose grip. How do you think the proline baja x predator compound would compare (performance wise) to ruptures?? Probably nowhere near as good. The Jconcepts you used in this video smoked the others.

the tusk foam look softer,might be due to the seasoned use....i think the proline would do better with predator compound....but the best of the best is still the faithful rc4wd

When I was crawling semi-competitively, I used the Amazon knock off tires, & the Amazon foams (gray, med/soft compound) & would bevel the inside of the inserts. Did Purdy good! I never lost due to cheapo tires, foams, or (Amazon) wheels. (I got cocky n messed up!🤪)
Not good imo. I Haven’t used a cheap set of tires ever since I switched to the good stuff. Big difference in the rubber compounds.
The compound seems better than past knock offs and is rather sticky. Will be testing out some other foams soon. Biggest concern is knobs folding like RC4wd and they are wide impeding turning some.
You need to add some dirt/sticks "natural", trails to the exoplex. Maybe linking the rock sections. I think it would give your course a more rounded terrain.

My dirt just doesn’t hold very well at all. It changes so much that it’s not consistent.

Some do break in and get better.
I think they all need the same wheels and same inserts to make it a true test.. 🤷♂️ cause inserts can change a bad tire into a good one.. so would definitely like to see them with everything the same.. but great effort!

I see you have problems with your Furitek as well LOL. Can you please say something to them about a potential firmware update? Maybe they will listen to you LOL I need the throttle resolution to be a smooth from zero to 100 as it is from 100 to 0. I see everybody has this problem unfortunately.
Let's get the same test but also with the same foams. Just stick some cheap single stage foams in.

My trx4 sport is 8. 03 pounds 1/2 the Weight of your rig . It’s more of a trail rig I would pick the Amazon for my set up ⬆️
Thanks for the comparison! 👍 I can't agree with the results though, as you failed to take into consideration any of the variables that affect performance. So, really, not a valid test (at least in my mind).
Unless you set them all up how you would run them in a comp it is not a valid test. I would hope the Amazon would do better with a dual stage or antifoams. At $20 for a full set from AliExpress they deserve a chance. Glad you will experiment some more.

The tusk are designed after the pro xs. That's why thy don't have the big lugs on the side and they are more flat

its what I have I have to be quick on these due to temps and humidity, so I don't have time to change everything around
I have some "cheaap knockoffs" on my 1/10 Capra that have a tire pattern readily seen on off-road vehicles everywhere. They're 114mm OD and look perfectly to scale. I'm curious to your "cheap knockoffs" but worry that their 118mm OD will look subtely cartoonish, and the current tires are also only a couple months old. Decisions decisions.
Gotta take the dimensions with a grain of salt when it comes to the cheap stuff . Tolerances aren't very strict so they could be a good bit bigger or smaller than advertised .
I actually like the cheap ones and think they’d be great general use tires. Once I get some softer foams in them they will only get better. I hope.
