Words really cannot express how much I enjoy and admire these musicians and the band collectively. Many people can make music, right lyrics and sing to the lyrics. Knowing how to convey feeling and expression threw your music is something you cannot teach and is sorely lacking with todays music. Thank you Church, you guys are amazing.
I am a HUGE music fan and have over 1000 albums, and listen to a wide variety of music. But I have listened to Starfish more than any other album i've ever listened to. Epic record.
This is a 35 song concert, and this song is like 26th, so Steve's voice is a little tired, especially because they already performed in other cities, it was a long tour, yet he manages to get the song right. He's amazing! they all are!
Another SK masterpiece...close to my absolute favourite Church song.. listen to those guitars ❤ how fortunate Steve was to have these 2 guys for all those albums... big wrap to the sound engineer for this mix, absolute perfection 👌
Discovered them in college...I love everything they do! Definitely one of the best alternative bands out there and one of my favorites that I've seen multiple times live in DC, NYC, Boston and Albany. All were great shows!
Just saw them the other night in Philly. What a wonderful concert. I don’t go to many and am so glad I was able to make this one!!! One of my favorite bands, outstanding performance!!!
‘’And on The Eighth Day, God created Psyche Rock. And God listened to it and heard that it was good. It was rich and beautiful beyond the telling; the interwoven melodies and harmonies - mere sounds - somehow captured the essence of The Eternal Firmament and described the otherwise INdescribable passions within The Soul. And She said to Steve, Marty and PETER; ‘You are MY KINDA ROCK and on this ROCK I will build the church.’’ And In The Past, Present & Future they became [musically] Perfect. And we, like, TOTALLY LOVE YOU GUYS! Yeah!
Saw them play this live in 1989 in BNA. I was in a complete (drug induced) trance. I love scores of their songs and own a dozen albums but this is my very favorite of their songs.
20+ years later playing this stuff, the guitar tones and ambient delays are amazing..vocals are not bad,,a little rough but better than 90% of bands performing 20+ yrs later..
Our elements are burnt out Our beasts have been mistreated let me tell you Its the ONLY way we'll get this road completed and in between our bodies the air has grown small fingers just one caress You are powerless! Like a clapped out swinger
@@ue4058 I would take Ploog over Powles, but damn, two fantastic drummers. You couldargue that Powles is quintessential Church due to how long he has been with the band.
Beautiful performance, but Steve is not tired. Being a singer I can tell he is tired of singing the songs, he’s trying his hardest to change the delivery of each lyric to amuse himself. I think alcohol 🍺 might be a factor. 😊🤔
That dude used to be stoned out of his mind during and after each gig; however, this is part of his personna, I've witnessed it first hand, very briefly, but I have. I remember a Church concert in NYC was once cancelled because Kilbey had been arrested for buying smack from an undercver cop.
Vocals are below expectations, sounds like an armature and not even close to the original which is one of my favorites. They butcher it here :( still love these guys though
No one can ruin a song this good, but it is admittedly an unusual cadence, and takes some getting used to. I have to wonder if he did too many bong hits before they took to the stage. He's laying so far back on the beat that it moves back two or three entire beats (!!!).
Elidoransgar I agree some songs are so good it is virtually impossible or very hard to mess them up meaning you don't have to have a great voice to make the song sound good just a decent one. This is one of those songs. Another is Abracadabra by the Steve Miller Band and there is Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd. Just to name a few however there are many others as well.
Never thought of that! Studio recordings are always stellar ( Powles drumming on MATS especially) -- but live, Tim most often, seems a bit lackadaisical. Bong hits.

The lyrics to this song are absolutley brilliant
this album is a true masterpiece!

the freaking guitar work is intoxicating.

This is jaw droppingly amazing. Best two guitar band ever.
the whole starfish record is so magical. nothing close in the year 2019
I've seen the Church live 4 times - always amazing!
Another SK masterpiece...close to my absolute favourite Church song.. listen to those guitars ❤ how fortunate Steve was to have these 2 guys for all those albums... big wrap to the sound engineer for this mix, absolute perfection 👌
the greatest record of all time
Hell yes.
I still remember hearing to milkyway and thought that life was ok! teenage years!
Discovered them in college...I love everything they do! Definitely one of the best alternative bands out there and one of my favorites that I've seen multiple times live in DC, NYC, Boston and Albany. All were great shows!
College discovery here too. Used to go to sleep to this this album on so many nights
My favorite song.
I mean this is my favorite.
Listen to how Ian interprets this song. Wow!
Starfish, Gold Afternoon Fix and Priest = Aura are, in a single word, masterpieces
I think you mean Starfish, Priest = Aura, After Everything Now This, Untitled #23, and Further, Deeper. :)
Best band ever
Après les WHO
Just saw them the other night in Philly. What a wonderful concert. I don’t go to many and am so glad I was able to make this one!!! One of my favorite bands, outstanding performance!!!
Luck you!!!
I went to this concert at Sydney state theatre it was amazing
Still got it after 25 yrs.....awesome.

Those two definitely need to perform more together. A great combination!
GOD They are amazing!

a CHURCH classic from one of their best albums "Starfish"
Top voices in my book and top 20 band. Hey Day and Starfish albums nyl, cassette, and CD are now on several playlists.
they are the greatest
Loved this album. wish I could have seen them live, that would have been so cool.
Love this song

i think it is mt favorite Church track and that is saying a lot.
Just the best, can I say good infinite
Beautiful music !

Their best song imo.

Lovely
Muito maneiro....curto de montão essa banda há vários anos....
Exquisite musicians!!! Too bad I did not discover them way before...
"Page 47 is unsigned, I need it by this evening"
"Our destination looks kind of bleak..." For Who? Glory, honor, peace.
Súper banda.
Is that Russell Kilby playing guest appearance ? Cool
On adore toujours, mais on ne vous voit pas en concert par chez nous ? !
💖💖💖
最高!
Just perfect drumming, he isn’t Ploog but he’s great
Our elements are burnt out
Our beasts have been mistreated
let me tell you
Its the ONLY way
we'll get this road completed
and in between our bodies
the air has grown small fingers
just one caress
You are powerless!
Like a clapped out swinger
💚
his vocals in this remind me of earlier stuff
always a better band when Richard Ploog was in it!
Landtech Remote Camera Survey I respectfully disagree.
Ploogie was great, but he left and Powell's whom we've had for a while now.
Eleven out of ten on the Gothmeter!!!
so, you guys like Fenders?
Yeah but some guitars have different pick ups. They don't all sound the same
FRANCE, NICE french riviera !
Bon, ok ça a un peu vieilli mais la magie opère toujours avec ce son spatial NEW WAVE!
Whats is this line up?
Kilbey, Koppes, Willson-Piper, Powles, plus a side musician named Craig Wilson
@@ue4058 I would take Ploog over Powles, but damn, two fantastic drummers. You couldargue that Powles is quintessential Church due to how long he has been with the band.
Voice little bit changed
Michael Stipe on the drums! I keed.
jos
Stoffish? Sure, I'll try some.

@@adityakumar3545 Well, at least he used to be. I don't know these days, so I've edited my post.

He ruined the song with that lazy singing...
whateverrr
Nah, still sounded good.
