Grace, Willy and Joe are sublime and shout out to the rest of the band. Great camera work too. Perfection. My favourite TH-cam music clip by far and I listen to an awful lot. OMG. Truly a virtuoso performance. The trumpet is mind blowing how it drives the groove. Satriani and Potter out of their minds. They knew they were next level. Grace’s smile at the end said it all.
12 years on and this cover still blows me away. Yup, Satriani is a fantastic guitar innovator and yes, Grace is amazing singing and yes Reed Mathis is keeping a nasty groove going and my god, what about Willy jammin' on the trumpet....but it's really the combined power of ALL involved during this one rare moment in time that combine to create this masterpiece. No matter what, I'll still return to this even 20 years later.
This is truly one of the best random supergroup performances ever. It's all been said in the comments but the one thing I haven't seen mentioned is Steve Kimock (an amazing guitar player in his own right) just chilling in the middle of this sound bubble smiling. I often wish to trade places with him for these 6+ minutes and just exist in that plane without having to do anything but play chords and get lifted off the face of the earth!

The trumpet continually brings me back. I try to whistle along from 2:40 to 3:07. The dueling trumpet versus guitar from 3:55 to 4:45 is fantastic. I want to hear more of Waldman and Satriani together.

The Trumpet does not fit the intended vibe of the song-wind instruments are not in any way a compliment to Electric music. The only exception-as rare as it may be-is the SAX. One wants to just take that dam trumpet away from that man while Satriani is playing

As mythic as Neil’s lives of this incredible song are, these brillant musician managed to give it a different yet magnificent spin. A bit of eastern vibe here there with that awesome trumpet, quite comical when that song’s about a colossal part of the west’s history. Pure genius. Music at its finest.

I just found this 12/22 and am loving it. I found it by following Neil Young more latley. Needing that cool vibe, This gal is singing her head off for first half then loving life so much it makes me smile to look at her. I watched it a few times since and she couldn’t smile no wider. The guitar player is so good cause you know he could shred over the top but he didn’t. The horn added a nice touch .

The Trumpet does not fit the intended vibe of the song-wind instruments are not in any way a compliment to Electric music. The only exception-as rare as it may be-is the SAX. One wants to just take that dam trumpet away from that man while Satriani is playing
@@vanapa9 I disagree...trumpet player matched note for note with Satch..was enjoyable to watch them play off each other at same time not taking away from the performance.

As mythic as Neil’s lives of this incredible song are, these brillant musician managed to give it a different yet magnificent spin. A bit of eastern vibe here there with that awesome trumpet, quite comical when that song’s about a colossal part of the west’s history.

Yes, Grace is lovely & has a great voice, & Satriani is well, Satriani, but IMHO Waldman (the guy on trumpet) was the best thing about this video.
I never saw a guy play trumpet out of the side of his mouth before, anyways you are right he may have been the best thing about this video. Did you notice he switched from trumpet to fluglehorn and back to trumpet?
