The VERA option is very wish-washy right now. They’re hinting at it without really saying it’s there.

Can you clarify the policy for those planning to retire between October 1 and December 31, 2025?
For example, if someone will be 57 with 30 years of service in November and meets the retirement qualifications at that point, how does this apply?
If an employee is eligible for both retirement and technically early retirement (if offered by their agency), and they respond "retire and resign," does the following FAQ apply to their situation? The best case scenario would be to have the resignation date extended to the retirement date as opposed to a VERA but I'm not seeing any guidance on this particular topic.
    > FAQ: I am scheduled to retire soon after September 30, 2025. Can I take advantage of the deferred resignation program?
If your retirement date is between October 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025, you are still eligible for deferred resignation (unless your position is exempted from the program by your agency). If your retirement date is within this window, your deferred resignation date will be extended to match your retirement date.

neweast Q and A says VERA is allowed with current deferred retirement buyout offered so I called ABC-C and OPM as well today. They both said that if your agency is not offering you this, you are not going to get the full benefits, meaning you are not gonna get health and a full pension right away, and it is FACT as of now... what say you?

Yes, I think your agency is the most important and best source of information and guidance you have. I'm not suggesting VERA will be widely offered by various agencies, just providing some insight on how it may apply to different situations.

What about Vera under special category? Does this even exist? Our’s is 20@50 or 25@Any age but we’re forced out at 57

To many unknowns... being rolled out way to fast with too many questions. Seems like all it would take is for some Liberal Trump hating federal judge to issue a temporary halt to all this stuff and then its even a bigger mess..

To my understanding, no. Unless you made the military service deposit to credit your time.

Will VERA allow you to withdraw from TSP without any penalty?
