    A great friend of mine used to say that when faced with the requirement of an immediate answer, the response is nearly always no. This requirement for such a short suspense is a red flag and is likely not beneficial to most.

    Thank you. I moved my funds in TSP to L2030 fund and upped percentage that I have going into it. Not planning to take the "deferred resignation" but getting myself on track best I can to be as prepared as possible. I have over 30 years of service but was planning to wait until I turn 62 before I retire.

    Thank you for bringing up the emotional readiness of going from supporting a mission to golfing all day every day, so to speak. And how not everybody is ready for that. That is a crucial decision ... you can have all the money in the world but if you fall into a depression after retirement it won't matter how much savings you have. I've seen this happen with a number of friends and acquaintances who weren't as ready as they thought they were and struggled after retirement.

    I am certain of my decision to resign and my choice to resign is fully voluntary. I understand my employing agency will likely make adjustments in response to my resignation including moving, eliminating, consolidating, reassigning my position and tasks, reducing my official duties, and/or placing me on paid administrative leave until my resignation date.
    I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition during my remaining time at my employing agency. Accordingly, I will assist my employing agency with completing reasonable and customary tasks and processes to facilitate my departure.
    This doesn’t guarantee admin leave. Why not update the offer for clarification vs updating the FAQs?

Information provided by OPM is limited and my agency has no additional info. I am interested in the offer but lack the details to make a decision. Of note, I am not probationary as I was brought back under competitive reinstatement.

    So you may know by now that agencies have requested VERA authorization and OPM has indicated it'll grant them. Like you, I think the deferred resignation offer is shady. Though my agency's head of management stated it WILL honor them, I'm not inclined to accept it. I'm waiting for the VERA offer, which is on strong legal footing. Was really interested in the realities of consultation with “other” professionals (employment attorneys) as mentioned, but this video is more about financial preparedness (critical). This did not expand on the pros/cons of the ‘fork’ options.

    • @TheFedCorner
      @TheFedCorner  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I did make mention of what we’ve been telling clients what we heard from employment attys. There is concern over whether language is considered binding and any enforceability. Beyond that, pros/cons apply only to a VERA, otherwise the only difference is not having a job anymore. Stay tuned for another video on newer updates and VERA later this week. -TG

    This is how I understood it....if you are already eligible for a retirement pension under MRA+10 and you were already planning to leave Federal Service before reaching the Full retirement age or years of service....you will still be eligible to leave service and EITHER collect your reduced pension (5% per year penalty under 62) or receive an unreduced pension based on your MRA+10 calculation at age 62 REGARDLESS if you choose to take this Resignation.
    Prior to this "offer" - If you were at MRA+10 and was already planning to leave/quit or resign from Federal Service before reaching your full retirement age/years - you would be in the exact same situation....so nothing would be any different......EXCEPT Maybe for your FEHB benefits......HOWEVER if you fall under TRICARE (as many Fed employees do) ......then FEHB is probably a non issue anyway so you would lose nothing BUT you could gain by leaving early and still collect your normal Pay/benefits thru 9/30.
    If this is not correct - please explain why.

    I dont know how someone like a gs5 is supposed to save up 6 months of living expenses. Maybe thats easy for the GS fantastic non supervisory desk jobs in DC but from Ive seen a lot of the lower level people are struggling to get by. These lower positions have no real safety net, are arguably the most important on the ground positions, and yet are going to be hit hardest by these new schemes I fear.
