I could not find where to comment so I did it here. THANK YOU SO MUCH for uploading this video!!! It was like a 15 minute miracle. I've been in a lot of pain the past 3 days and in excruciating pain the last 24 hours. I've tried several high-dosage meds and pain creams but nothing helped. Doctor won't give me any more meds until my MRI results on Friday. I tried the exercises and it improved my pain about 80% the first time doing them. AMAZING! Thank you so much Madden PT!!!!

I have scoliosis and now have two herniated disks and compression fractures from L1 to S1. I also have stenosis. I have dealt with disk problems in the past, but not like this. For the last seven months, I haven't been able to sit stand, walk, lay down for more than 15 minutes. I have seen an M.D, chiropractor, accupuncturist will try ayurvedic next. Thank you for posting these. I try to exercise every day, but hard without sleep.

Dear people of the internet, until you know exactly what is causing your sciatica pain, you probably shouldn't do these stretches as they can actually worsen some conditions. Please get an MRI and work with someone who can help with a treatment plan for your specific issue.

For those with Bad Sciatic pain....try taking two Advil. I've had Sciatic pain ever since I was 10 years old, and not has helped me, until one day I was on the floor, crying because the pain was so bad. My sons handed me two advil and within a minute or two, the pain was gone. Now, whenever I feel the pain coming on, I take two advil and it's gone.

Chad, thanks for these video tips. I felt a painless pop while dead-lifting nearly 15 years ago, and haven't been right ever since. My pain not only radiates from my hip to my foot, but my range of motion has been severely hampered to the point of preventing regular exercise. These stretches relieve alot of the immediate pain, but it seems to always return. I am in Camp Hill, and would like to set up a consult with you.

I have had three separate spinal surgeries, disc removal of l4/5 and l3/4 with a full permanent fusion of l3/4/5. After 10 reps of these stretches as well as a hip stretch I have noticed a difference. Also doing a 1/2 power ab constriction, nuts to guts, or kiegel exercise helps a lot.

It is taking me 20 minutes to get out of bed and stand up straight in the mornings. The pain is high. By the end of the day I am in no pain and all is good. I am starting to dread going to bed! Yet sitting and lying down is initially comfort. I don't want to move yet I know that's the only thing that will eventually bring relief. Been to Chiro and physio. Will try these exercises.

1st session did a bunch of diagnostics -- determined I had good balance, muscle strength, etc, EXCEPT a reduced ability to extend the spine. PT gave me some floor exercises to do--did fine on those (no pain). Nightime pain (last nite) was the worst. Daytime much better. will see how the next session goes tomorrow.

    Hi Doc!
Thanks for sharing the Stretches & Exercises with us. got some relief honestly.
I have this pain for almost 8 years now. went to so many doctors but there was no proper result. so I'm kinda used to it now but the most bothering part is that I have a burning sensation on my left foot along with my left palm and sometimes left face (before the sensation was on my both feet only but slowly it's gone from one long time back) and most of the times I can't even sleep because of burning sensation. only solution I find is to keep my foot in a cold water for sometime or keep it under a fan. doctors say that it is because of slipped disk (I have 2 slipped disks. last 2 ones as per doctors) and cannot be treated separately. I have done many different exercises and they help to relieve the pain only.
    Any advice for this please?

Finally, I’ve been diagnosed correctly with a physical or biochemical abnormality that is present at birth and that may be inherited, spondylilothesis, that has plagued me my entire life. It’s hard finding relief from the pain complicating it with sciatica. I’ve been active most of my life but recently my life has taken a left turn. I’m looking for bed exercise. I am unable to lay down on my stomach and the only minute relief I get is laying on my side doing diaphragm breathing. I’m unable to turn side to side so I usually fall asleep on side only making difficult in the mornings to get up and out of bed.

I'm 3rd time lucky with my disc! 3 times in about 15 years! I'm having physiotherapy & acupuncture! I'm exercising as well! It's hard i know, but I'm sticking with it! Sleeping can be bad! with the pain! But I've had it before, with my other 2 bouts of disc & sciatica! & it still sucks!, big time. Good luck folks!!

After a LONG time, i decided to workout a bit yesterday and Lo and Behold a few hours later my sciatica was back with a vengeance. It is excruciating pain right now. Hard to even sit down. I'll try these exercises and see what happens.

The major down side here is us people with sciatica pain can't get into those positions without extreme 10/10 pain half way getting there. Such as the sit up with straight legs. Thanks for trying to help tho sir.

Ya the pain I get is at par with an abcess tooth and most intense at side of my calf. It takes me 3-4 hours just to get mobile each day then I have 30-45,min to get around before having to lie on my side. Most intense injury I have ever had for sure.

Exactly. I can’t sit down for more than 30 seconds at a time. The pain gets so intense that I have to lay back down. Same with standing up, I’m fine for about 30-45 seconds and then I start getting a burning feeling down my leg and then my back starts to hurt. I need some laying down stretch methods.

Great Video clip! Apologies for chiming in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you thought about - Franaar Breathtaking Motion Formula (do a google search)? It is an awesome one of a kind product for Curing Sciatica in Just 8 Mins without the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my buddy at very last got astronomical success with it.

@@jezuzxxx For anyone with similar problems, your posture and regular stretching is important, consistency is key, also mental health issues can effect and make it worse and vice versa. Look into inversion therapy that helps to decommpress the spine, also hydrotherapy which is another way of decommpressing the spine. A few simple stretches to help with spine are the cat & cow pose, the upwards facing dog pose & the childs pose & a primitive squat, if you do the primitive squat off the side of a low object like a chair you could even gently decommpress the spine, spinal decommression is important but can be dangerous, posture is important guys! also you can buy certain cushions that help with the curvature of your lower spine and ones for sitting on the help with your pelvic area such as a coccyx cushion. For anyone that doesnt allready know, sleeping on your side with a cushion between your knees will help relieve pain by keeping your spine alligned, and try putting one beneath your knees if your on your back. @maddenptofficial Yes its down all of my leg. My physio said she could not do full treatment on me, as im in too much pain. The exercises i try to do are bending my hips side to side, Trying to touch my toes, leaning as far back as i can, Core strengthining exercises which is just holding in my stomach, and my physio also just tapes my back up. Other than that im taking codeine, tramadol and some anti-inflammatory.

Thank you so much. I've been going to a Physio therapist and it's done nothing to help or identity my pain. After you 4 min video, I'm now pretty confident it's "sacroiliiac" pain. Acupuncture and suction cups completely wasted my time. Going to look this up more and keep trying these exercises.

The PT that treated you with suction cups should be slapped slowly and repeatedly with a wet sock. /PT myself.

I had the same thing... going on 20 weeks now. I damaged my nerve and it landed up going down my bum (worst pain Ive ever felt) and giving "reflective pain in the pelvis and hamstrings. After 15 weeks of hell, I finally went to the PT and they did dry needling and some intense muscle massages along with aligning my back and hips. Im finally starting to feel human again. Id recommend therapy anyday, the longer you leave it, the more damage it does!
