BCP #28 | Why I’m NOT a “Christian” - A Messianic Jew explains

  • Both Jews and Christians agree: a Jew who believes in Jesus (Yeshua) is now a Christian. So what reason could there possibly be for a Jewish follower of Yeshua not to want to be called a “Christian?” Is he just being disingenuous? Maybe he’s denying his faith. In this episode, Kevin explains both from the Scriptures and his personal experience, how Jews can legitimately believe in and give their lives to Yeshua, yet also retain their biblically Jewish identity-and why the whole world depends on it.

I'm not a Jew, but everything I've learned by coming out of the mainstream church and reading the bible for myself, is that I am grafted into Israel. The rules or Torah is for everyone who believes in Yeshua. We can't worship the God of Israel and the messiah of Israel and read a book that was instructions for Israel and then not live the life of what they say. Christ taught Torah, so we have to live it. If we walk in the light, then the blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin. I keep the feast days to the best of my ability and the Shabbat. I wear tassels and don't shave my beard, and most of all I try to love everyone with a pure heart. Yah is pulling a lot of people to the truth. There is a big movement that is coming out of the churches and finding out the doctrines of men have clouded our faith in messiah. If it's not in the bible I won't do it. Yah bless you brother!

Study the book of Galatians carefully. You are under the "yoke of bondage" by trying to keep the law. You have embraced a false religion of pseudo-Judaism mixed with Christianity like so many have done. Return to the faith of liberty that the new testament teaches.

What a wonderful teaching. I too have re-attached to my Jewish roots through Yeshua. My mothers family were secular Jews (some generations ago we were Jewish) I grew up as a Christian, taking myself to church where I learnt the ways of Christ. Yah has since led me back and I am learning to keep the feast, eat clean and keep Shabbat. What a great Father we serve. Praise be to Him for this video-has blessed me greatly. Thank you Kevin.

Does this mean you have left Christianity and gone back under the law for salvation? Galatians 5:1 "Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage." In fact the whole book of Galatians refutes law keeping, as well as other parts of the new testament. I just don't understand why anyone would do it, Jew or Gentile. It seems that this has become a thing among non-Jews as well. Baffling.

I will keep walking in faith. Even though it’s difficult. I will praise Jesus even in my times of despair. These past years have been difficult on me. But with the Lord’s strength, I have persevered. I have two beautiful boys both are autistic. My husband passed away years ago. I’m all alone. I lost my job over declining the vaccine. LIKE MANY OTHERS! I declined due to my pre existing health conditions lupus and heart disease. I’ve been struggling to provide for myself and my children since losing my job from Forsyth hospital. I’m now waitressing, and I’m thankful, but I’m not making nearly enough to get by. Every month is a battle to not end up on the streets with my two children. I’m constantly in fear of losing my home. To even think about being on the streets with two young children is terrifying. But even as I face homelessness seemingly every month. I have faith, God will provide. With GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! Faith over fear.

Very good message, I was born a gentile Christian but my parents didn't practice Christianity. I started going to a little Baptist Church with my older brother and sister when I was ten and knew I had to serve God from that point. I have somewhat left the Christian label behind now as I try to be Torah Observant by eating clean and keeping the feasts and Sabbath days. My family thinks I have lost my mind but the more I accept the scriptures for what they really say and reject the manmade holidays and traditions the more peace I have in my soul

I have a mixture of Jewish and Gentile family. My mom was adopted after her father was killed in WW2 by her Jewish father, but was brought up secular who kept some dietary laws and traditions (my grandmother did what she could). I was very close to my grandparents. My mom married a Gentile, and I also was raised secular.
My great-grandfather was a cantor (I got to meet him when I was young, so sweet), so my grandfather and his sisters and brothers were brought up in Judaism, but became atheist because of what my grandfather said was the problem he had with evil. My extended family was wiped out in the Holocaust.
I didn’t become a believer until my thirties. I remember telling my family, and I was unprepared for the reaction which became the worst day of my life! So, I relate what you went through. For me, my grandparents were understanding, but for my aunts, I was no longer family. It was so painful, that I think it started out my voyage with MS.
So, I’ve struggled with who I was. I guess for me, because I grew up mostly secular and from an adopted family, I’ve identified as a Christian. But, for some reason, there’s a quiet calling to go to a Messianic service. I find myself drawn to the Jewish people because of my family (who are gone now) and childhood. I will continue to be confused with my identity for the rest of my life most likely (because I’m in my early 60’s), lol.
But anyway, I have watched several of your videos. Thank you for them! I am seeing the Bible and my understanding of the Word in a new light.
    Take care!

As a christian, this was enlightening. I never understood the difference but the cultural significance makes sense. I will say that many christians like myself would not have a problem with one maintaining being a jew. I would also say that many christians are not aware that jews were persecuted by those who claim to be christian throughout history. Many christians would speak against that. I guess thats the ultimate issue. Christian has many different faces. thanks again for the insight.

I am a Catholic and I'm sick and tired of Rad Trad Christians saying that you cannot remain a Jew while being a follower of Jesus. Even after Jesus was born, his parents went to the Temple in observance of Jewish custom. They redeemed Jesus, their firstborn from temple service. And Mary made a Jewish offering. In the Book of Acts, the apostles gathered together at the cusp of the first day, which is Sunday, for their holy meal. That is Jewish. They didn't collect the tithe on a Sabbath, which is forbidden if you keep the Sabbath. After Paul defended Gentile Christians from being forced to get circumcised, he proceeded to circumcise Timothy who was a Jew. In other words, the first Early Christians retained the Jewish identity to a great degree after following Jesus as Messiah and Lord. Duh!

    • @the-metaphorian
      @the-metaphorian 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Oh, and not to mention the fact that the Apostles were gathered in the Upper Room on Shavuot! It was on Shavuot that the Spirit came down upon them to birth the Church. If that isn't a confirmation from the Lord that He was continuing the Jewish Shavuot as the Christian Pentecost, I don't know what it is. A coincidence? Ha!

Like Hitler? He was an Occultist despising not only Jews, but Christians too. Hitler was from Austria and yet Austrians are so cowardly today calling themselves not Germans because of Hitler. And calling defining, despising, cursing everything to do with German because of Hitler. Same is done all around the West with all western cultures to bring down and to destroy western civilizations, using colonization, slavery or whatever to do it.
I'm Geman and I don't define myself after an image what Marxists, Globalists give to me coming from indoctrination camps (schools and universities) or propaganda (media). Because I'm a German from Russia I honor my forefathers in keeping what is good and remember the crimes the godless Bolsheviks (Marxists, Globalists) did towards humanity and still do today. Now with the total destruction of individualism (Transgenderism, Transhumanism) after being successful with getting ride of national identity, culture, family structures.
Nowhere in the Bible you find to get rid of ethnicity and yet churches are helping the Globalists (Antichrist) Agenda. Identify is important and every Jew and every Christian too should keep their identity and don't throw it out of the window only because its the Zeitgeist of our time, which is most of the time in human history against God and therefore anti-human anyways. Even in the Millenia when Jesus will rule this world with an iron fist as an Emperor, a Dictator there will be still nations, ethnicities, different languages because diversity is from God.

For me 9 years ago now I was called out of the Modern Church because what Christianity teaches (or the majority of it) cannot be found in the Holy Bible. I walk out what is in the Bible. I'm grafted into (not a new religion founded on Rome) but the Biblical Faith in Yeshua. So I keep Sabbath, leviticus 23, follow Torah, and know Yeshua didn't void God's Law. What's my identity? A believer In Messiah Yeshua. I tend to tell people I'm biblical not religious when having to put a label on it. For me it's a weird place... but also a blessed one to know the Biblical Faith and walk that out... not lies inherited by religious men who sought to control the faith in the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob.... and His Son Yeshua.. Im blessed to know His Heritage and where and by whom it cones from. Great Podcast.

I am not Jewish, I've been grafted into Yeshua. Only 3 times the word "Christian" is used. Paul never called himself or others a Christian. I believe it was a derogatory name given to the Jewish believes in Yeshua. According to my Hebrew Translation of Acts 26:8 it translates it as :And Agrippa said to Paul, In a little while I will tempt you to become a Christian. Even in 1 Peter 4:15-16 being accused of being a Christian was equal to being accused of being a thief or murder. Not a good name. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evildoer, or a meddler in the affairs of others, as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God because of this.

its sad the meaning of the word "Christian" has been corrupted so much til its unrecognizable.. this is why i have trouble with the term. it means something very different today than what it used to mean. many so-called Christians today would strongly deny that ppl like me are Christian because i deny celebrating Christmas, deny that understanding trinity is required for salvation, and follow Torah.

    Hello,
I've been apart of Messianic congregations for years. Unfortunately it's hard to find balanced believers. There seems to be much that is thrown into the believe structures. Flat earth, all Jews go to heaven no matter what they have done, some smoke infront of the congregation doors, some don't believe in an eternal hell, some believe you should follow this or this and if you do that or this you are condemned. Can you please answer and do a podcast on gentile believers. Specifically on eating kosher. I don't have a conviction regarding this but definitely want to know what scripture says and if I need to change my convictions. Blessings,

True Christianity is Messianic Judaism. The Jewish people have never lost their heritage in 2000 years, and they won't now either. And that is because they are God's Covenant chosen people...still. That never changed because "God cannot lie". And true christianity or messianic judaism does not run in opposition to Judaism rather it fulfils it.

Comments and questions for you, Kevin: I think, based on my Bible study and my best reasoning, that during the Millennium the whole world will be under the Torah. I base this on Isaiah 2:3, Micah 4:2, Zechariah 14:18, and maybe other scriptures too. If that is the case, then why wouldn't observance of the law be good for gentile believers now?
Other scriptures lead me to believe that Jewish and Gentile believers are one body, or can or should be--John 10:16, Isaiah 56:6-7, and perhaps also Numbers 15:15-16.
What you said about the Jewish identity has actually been on my mind a lot the past few days. Maybe Paul dissuaded gentile believers from keeping the law so that the Jewish bloodline would be more likely to remain pure and the Jews would remain a distinguishable people. Or maybe God himself intended this when he inspired Paul's words. As a Christian interested in Torah (but not a Hebrew roots person or even Torah-observant), Paul's dogged insistence that gentiles NOT try to keep any of the law (which would be good and healthy for any people to keep) baffles me.
Attempted compliance with Torah does not make anyone holy--Jews, gentiles, believers, or non-believers, correct? All are in the same boat as far as being justified is concerned.
So I think the sole motivation for this separation between Jew and Gentile believers--the different standards for each--is about trying to keep the bloodline pure. I am not saying that is wrong necessarily. It may be God's plan. And it also seems clear that the primary reason this might be the case is so that the Israelites can inherit and occupy the land promised to the seed of the patriarchs. You said that Caleb was not a Jew. But Caleb inherited a share of the promised land--it passed to his children, yes, but he himself was given a portion in the promised land by God, and so I think God must have considered him to be fully a Jew.
One thing I strongly believe, though, is that in this day and age, respect for and possibly observance of the law has never been more needed in Christendom. "Belief" has been divorced from God's laws of morality and justice and everything else. There is great confusion. So how do we bring Christianity back to orthodoxy and orthopraxy if not to turn to the law as the guide? For it is through the law that we become conscious of sin (and how we know what things are sins, very basically). And how have the Jews supposed to have been a light for the Gentiles if not by pointing the Gentiles to the law?
I know there's a lot here, but I would like to know your thoughts on any or all of this.

a family member converted to messianic judiasm but before she converted, she wanted to make sure she had jewish blood, and did a blood test. It noted she was 25% jewish. So than she converted to Messianic Jew and noted she has a deeper relationship to Jesus. So my question to her was how did 25% Jewish blood make your relationship with Jesus stronger, if He asked those to believe in him in Faith? The Jewishness can never replace the truth of the Gospel of God. If you want to return to Jewishness of Faith go back to Deut 6:4. He is ONE! No one beside him!

    This… is really weird.
If you run into Catholics and postmillennialists, they’ll ask you to give up your Jewishness.
But you run into premillennialist Christians they’ll cheer you on!
It’s cool you got your Jewishness, but it’s even more important to preach the gospel. The question you must ask yourself: is your Jewish heritage and customs getting in the way of preaching, or is it helping your preaching?

Why is it so important to you that I call myself “Christian”?

    • @optres
      @optres 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@perfectwordTV it is not, people can call themselves what they want, believer, people of the way, Nazarene.
The problem is, what you and others are doing is reversing what ignorant or so called Christian’s did.
What I see in the messianic/ Hebrew roots movement is a judaizing of gentiles to a law that according to Paul is obsolete and that the Jews then selves could not keep, (James)and who Paul himself said of Peter, you a Jew live as a gentile. When you say you prefer not to use Christian because of how Jews view it, I refer you back to a verse you used, 1 peter4:16. You say Jews refuse Christianity because of the horrendous things so called Christians did, I refer you to Paul and 1st century Jews who hunted down / persecuted Christian as well, according to his own testimony.
Jew who do not believe in Yeshua are thus because of a hardening in part, until the fullness of gentiles come in, they use these things as an excuse, and because rabbinic false Judaism has taught them so, and they like many so called christians just believe what they are told and don’t search for them selves, just as gentiles non believers use excuses not to come to Christ. It’s not because of the word Christian. I went through a time when I didn’t want to be called a Christian as well, but as you said Christianity is the fulfillment of Judaism,( true Judaism) at the root, it is what I am. If others have caused that name/label to be misrepresented so be it, it is what we are, in the end the workers will take the tares and throw them into the fire.
If I called my self messianic, which I am,which is what Christianity is, people would say I’m not, because I don’t observe sabbath or dietary law.
It’s just one big semantics circle. I pray for Israel and Jerusalem every day. As well as the surrounding countries in particular, all believers first. May God continue to richly bless you.

Thankyou so much - that explains a lot of things, especially considering the different expectations on Gentile vs Jewish followers of Christ regarding the Law. As a Messianic Believer, how do you navigate the inability to follow the Torah fully due to the lack of the Temple? And how do you reconcile the differences between the pure word in the Bible & the polluted Traditions Judaism has added over the centuries? Which therefore do you follow? And how closely do you feel compelled to follow either? Sorry, just questions I've always been curious about since discovering Acts 15 & 21.

I've been walking this walk for almost forty years. Studying the Scripture and seeking God, I've learned that Christianity as practiced today is ANTI-scriptural. Bottom line the Gentiles came into a knowledge of the Jewish Messiah centuries ago and began to worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob the same way they worshipped Zeus, Neptune, Jupiter and other gods that have NOTHING to do with the Scripture. Which God forbade in the Torah. You shall not worship Me the way the pagans worship their gods, that is an abomination to Me. Scripture is clear all the way to the book of "Revelation" that God's followers follow Messiah AND keep His Commandments (The Torah.) Hence for over forty years I've identified as a Messianic Jew and for the last twenty years I've identified as a Messianic Karaite Jew. Shalom.

This is why sometimes when certain (usually antagonistic) people may ask me if I'm a Christian (I'm a gentile, no Jewish lineage) I'll ask them what that think a Christian is or what they mean by that before I answer "yes".
But from my perspective if a Jewish person says "I'm a Jew", I'll tend take that as they are not a Christian unless they qualify it and say "Messianic Jew" or "I'm a follower of Yeshua"
Like you said, words mean something and it's so easy to misunderstand one another.

I reject the 'label' of 'christian' because, in my view, like the יהודים of ישוע's time, there is a choice being made between the Greek Jesus bar abbas or the Hebrew ישוע בן אבא. While many post mid 2nd century have treated them the same, they are practically antithetical in doctrinal understanding.
For a variety of reasons, the goyeem 'unhitched' the Hebrew ('jewish') Messiah of The Scriptures (TanakH) from His Hebrew/Jewish personage. They set forth the unbiblical antinomian heresy as their starting point, and worked 'backwards' from there. I just saw a 'meme image' with the representation of 'scripture' by a pyramid, divided much like the food pyramid from my childhood. They had the base as the TanakH in one view, and the other view had that same 'base' of the pyramid teetering on the pointed edge of the apostolic letters. That seems just about as apropos to a visual representation of the last 2000 years (well, 7 more years).
For me, the year 2030 represents the most interesting time for His return, being that it is 40 Jubilees from His offering. Many of us understand that the number 40 often represents times of trial. Anyway, just my useless 2 cents.

Shalom aleikhem, very well said and a needed message. You made many good points which were clear and helpful for many to understand. I would add, around the 12 min 30 sec mark, that when Gal. 3:28 mentions there is no Jew or Greek, etc.,, these are all symbolic terms and not to be taken literally, since one would always be a 'jew' if he or she was by blood; however, the ideas of Jew vs. Greek, slave vs. free, male vs female, reflect a much deeper meaning between two contrasts. No matter what are backgrounds may be, we all have access thru Messiah, if we submit according to the Father's will and not of our own culture, doctrines, agendas and passions. Consequently, Gentile Christianity does believe it has replaced Israel as you so poignantly mentioned in the video; therefore, does more harm than good to the Jewish nation. Thank you and blessings be upon you in the Messiah's Glorious Name!

@perfectwordTV .hmmm at around 7:06, i think you might be deluding yourself. you think an Orthodox jew will accept you a bit more if you strip the christian label? i read the story of rabbi daniel zion, who came to believe in Jesus and professed same on a radio program after he moved to israel. he didn't become a christian, he just accepted that Jesus was the Messiah and believed he heard Revelations ro this effect- he continued to practise going to the synagogue and all jewish traditions. he was rewarded by being stripped of any rabbinic leadership position, and i rhink i read couldn't go into the synagogues- perhaps he was one of the first messianic jews? i am glad you found Jesus, and i don't care what label you use. I actually believe the jews not believing in Jesus is by design of God, when i read Romans 11. jews not known to proselytize and there is high probability that if most jews had accepted Jesus, then the gospel would not have spread to the extent it has, and i might not have received the good news. so i am thankful that the jews have not accepted Christ (but also sad at the high cost of persecution they endured), but i am not worried - God will decide the appointed time and lift the veil from their eyes and they will rejoin the olive tree more easily. i do like your explanation on why the emphasis on messianic jew- to preserve the culture. i also hope you find acceptance amoungs your jewish brothers and sisters, even as you belive in Jesus. maybe have a chat with Roy Schoeman- jewish convert to Catholicism - he said he feels more jewish, not less. anyways- i subscribed - i like your presentation.

Great talk. Just as Saul of Tarsus / St Paul said that ‘blindness of heart has for a little time come to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles will come in’. So in our day Gentile rejection of Jesus decouples Jesus from the Christendom’s persecution of the Jewish People - making Yeshua more palatable to the Jewish people today.
In Jerome’s words.. Their sins (the Israelites rejection of their Messiah) occasioned (was necessary for) the salvation of the Gentiles... and again the incredulity of the Gentiles (the great falling away from Christianity such as occurring in our time) will occasion the conversion of Israel” (aka modern Messianic Judaism). “You will find both in the Apostle” (Jerome’s Comm. to Song of Songs, Homily 1)
What you say is so true. Per Phillip Sigal two Judaisms formed in the 1st Century; "Rabbinic Judaism and Christian Judaism"

  • @whatistruth2810
    @whatistruth2810 หลายเดือนก่อน

If Peter and Paul both used the term Christian and the disciples were called that in Acts then that is the name we are to use. God promised in Isaiah that he would call his servants by another name. From Paul’s testimony before Aggripa we can see that the name was in use even by unbelievers as he did not say “you almost persuade me to be a Messianic Jew” no he uses the word Christian. One who follows Christ is a Christian. That is the name we have been called by ever since the first century. Who are you to change it?
To try to separate the body of Christ and say Jewish believers should be called by a different name than gentile believers is to build up again the middle wall of partition that Christ tore down. The flesh profits nothing. Your Jewish ancestry means nothing in the kingdom of God. This is borderline heresy. This line of thinking leads to dual covenant theology and in many cases apostasy back to Judaism.
The early church in the first few centuries suffered dearly for the sake of Christ’s name. Justin Martyr records:
“ Again, if any of the accused deny the name, and say that he is not a Christian, you acquit him, as having no evidence against him as a wrong-doer; but if any one acknowledge that he is a Christian, you punish him on account of this acknowledgment.”
If you had lived back then would you have acknowledged to be a Christian and been martyred or would you have denied that name and said “no I’m not a Christian I am a Messianic Jew”? It seems to me the only reason one would refuse that blessed name would be to not be persecuted or ostracized by unbelievers. If you want to be known by the name of Judah more than the name of Christ then there is something very wrong. If you care about your Jewish identity more than your identity in Christ then I fear you don’t truly understand the gospel.

    • @perfectwordTV
      @perfectwordTV  หลายเดือนก่อน

But the point is that we don’t live back then, and the meaning of words change over time. As the video teaches, the *biblical* meaning of “Christian” is one that every Messianic Jew (“Jewish Christian,” if you prefer) feels very comfortable applying to himself. But the problem is, what “Christian” means in the general vernacular-including and especially in the Church-means something that is no longer Jewish. And our Jewishness is important to our calling as believers. That’s the reason for the different terminology. But this no more erects a wall between us and Gentile Christians any more than distinguishing male Christians from female Christians does (Galatians 3:28).

I do not appear to fit in niether. We are all a mixed race, especially considering the geneologies of Adam and Eve, then Noah. I also do not believe many of those religions who call themselves Christians who we know are not, like Carholics being the main one as they have bore a long history bad fruits. A Christian is supposed to be Christ followers, but I do not really see that myself in the overall scope of things. Whereas I also see Judaism as a very boastful and prideful people who think they are better than anyone else on earth, which I think is why Jews have a difficult time maintaining their relationship with God. I believe the Jews were the chosen people, but, what I may see as "The Chosen" different than Jews. I believe God chose them to bring the O.T to the world in preperation of Jesus Christ. Then, when Christ came, he obviously had to come to the Jews first. However, where I may differ is that the Jews reject Christ and had Him crucified in order to fulfill the prophecies in the Old Testament. Now, it appears the "Christians" are bringing the N.T. back to the Jews. True Christians love the Jews and know why the Jews were the Chosen people. In the same token, I also believe that anyone who accepts the teachings of Christ and follow those teaching. There are also those called "The Elect" which I believe is not the same as the Chosen. The Elect are those Chosen before the foundations of the earth, meaning all those who are true believers of God, Christ and the Holy Spirit regardless of what they want to call themselves. As the Bible teaches, anyone who believes in Christ and follows his teachings ( not those who claim to, but really don't) are called the children of Abraham. I do not think that the Christian nor the Jew have it entirely accurate. As for me, I believe my duty is to be Christ-like, which appears these days to be at odds with Mrssianic, Judaism and Christian teachings based on what I get from the New Testament. As far as I am concerned, If Jesus did it, so should I. I do not believe Sunday is the Sabbath Day, I do not believe in "Easter" and now more recently Christmas because of what it has become. I do not take issue with celebrating the birth of Christ, but that is not what it is about anymore. I believe in Shabbat, I am not on board with the Christian view of the original sin and some other things. On the other hand, I do not take issue with any Jewish holiday ( 9f course), but I do not believe in the Old laws that Jesus came to fulfill, along with a few other things. When people ask my "religion" I just say as I have been taught by father, "I am a child of God." Therefore, I do not feel I am at home with any particular faith.

Theŕe are many "red letter Christians" Who have always recognized the old testament is the pure word of God that was taught and upheld by Jesus. These red letter christians have always seen the heresies and the false teachings within the Christian Church which were almost always based on the teachings of Paul.
Our faith and practices are much more alignment wifth the Jewish people, but not being born children of Israel, we are rather on our own. Our love for Israel is real. We are aware of the tremendous debt the world owes the Jews for guarding and keeping the Word safe through the ages, (at great cost and peril to themselves) and sharing that sacred truth with the rest of the world.
I do not think the Jewish people need to be "Christianized" It breaks my heart that for so many, the only knowledge of the JEWISH Messiah comes in a corrupted package from missionaries who still don’t understand His message. (I would love to spend more time on that).
It seems that everyone confuses Jesus with the church. It is an embarrasment that we cannot have non-confrontational discussions and learning with oneanother about scripture, Jesus, The differences between Christ and Paul.

@@perfectwordTV To say we do not believe in the same Messiah is disturbing. Our salvation is based on YHVH through is Son Jesus Christ, the Living Torah alone.
Paul may have been a teacher who had a purpose in the plan of salvation, but our redemption is not contingent on acceptance of his midrash of scripture anymore than Maimonides or Akiva.
IN Matthew 23: 8-12 JESUS said: But be not ye called Rabbi: For one is your Teacher, even Christ; and ye are all brethren. And call no man be called your father upon earth: for One is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. ……
      BUT
IN Corinthians 4:15 Paul states : Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Jesus Christ, I became your father through the gospel.
There are many times Paul contradicts the Gospels. Some early Jewish followers of Christ had voiced these concerns. The Roman Church loved Paul’s versions and the Jewish sects were demonized out of existence. This is not a matter of faith but history. Had it not been for the Fiscus Judaicus, Christianity might look very different than today, including celebrations of Jewish feasts, customs and adherence to the TNKH.
Regardless, our love for YHVH and His Beloved Son, the beauty of Torah, the perfection of creation, the blessings bestowed on even the least of us, leaves us with MUCH more in common than any doctrine could undermine.
One day we will all be granted full understanding, until then…
With a fullness of heart I wish you Peace, Blessings and perfect Shalom

We know who Yeshua is only because of what the Scriptures say. If we don’t agree that the same writings are God-breathed Scripture, then we don’t agree on the same person of Yeshua.

Kevin, I appreciated your video and the integrity of your heart. I hear what you are saying, and I understand the concerns that you have. By no means should you reject or cast off your Jewish heritage. However, I believe that God does not think any less or more of you if you do or don't identify as Jewish or even observe the traditions and feasts. Yes, you are part of the Chosen people. What a blessing! But as you mentioned, we are no longer under the law but under grace. There is no longer any difference between Jews and gentiles in the eyes of God. When you stand before God, he's not going to ask you if you kept all the feasts and traditions. I don't believe that He's going to be concerned that you did or did not identify as Jewish. He's simply going to acknowledge you as His child who trusted in the finished work of Christ on the cross for your forgiveness of sins and eternal life. To be in the line of the Chosen people is an added bonus and honor. I think that the traditions and feasts are beautiful and have very significant symbolism and meaning that help Jewish believers understand and remember from where they came and who they are as the Chosen People. I don't know if you engage in the traditions and feasts/holy days or not. If you do, I think that is wonderful and I'm sure they have deep significance and meaning to your Jewish heritage. But I don't believe that you should think of yourself as less than Jewish by calling yourself a Christian. All followers of Jesus are supposed to be "little Christs" which is implied in the word "Christian". We are representatives of Christ to the unsaved unbelieving world. In general, you and I are on equal ground in the eyes of God when we stand together before Him in eternity. Am I less of a believer in Messiah because I did not follow the same traditions as you? Of course not. However, I have seen a number of gentile believers who have "crossed over" and celebrate the feasts and holy days right along side of their Messianic Jewish brothers and sisters. I've observed that they get very caught up in it and actually think that to NOT observe these holy days makes them something less than a devout follower of Christ. They are resorting back to the law, just as Paul reprimanded the NT churches for doing - trying to somehow find identity in the law and traditions. Again, I don't know to what extent you might celebrate Jewish feasts and holy days.
Something else that I've thought about: The purpose of the Jewish nation was to appoint the rest of the world to Christ, although we know that the Jews rejected Christ, and the gospel ended up going out to the gentile nations through Paul and his associates. The distinctive of your Jewish heritage comes from the fact that you are one of the Chosen - to be God's people but also TO TAKE THE GOSPEL TO THE REST OF THE WORLD - that is why you are the Chosen. Identifying as a Jew simply lets the rest of the world know that your ancestors were God's chosen vessel to evangelize the world. If I am wrong on this, please correct me. This is my understanding of it, but I could very well be missing particular important elements. God ultimately planned for ALL people to have the chance to accept the gift of salvation, but the Jews were his Chosen special people to first demonstrate His love and grace and mercy. But it did not stop with the Jews and it was never intended to stop with them - only begin with them and then spread throughout the rest of the world.
Regardless, I appreciated your video and I am so very glad that you are a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. I appreciate your desire to be biblically accurate as well. I hope my thoughts have not been offensive to you as they are not intended to be that to any extent. Blessings to you!

You don't have a clue brother! I'm sure you You don't keep the sabbath!? You probably celebrate Easter and Christmas. Any other pagan holidays as all the other christians do... Or so called christians! I pray that the holy spirit will open your eyes and lead you to the truth! Jesus Christ did not come to start. A new religion called "christianity"
      Matthew 5:17-20
Christ Came to Fulfill the Law
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19 Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
And the feasts are not Jewish. They are God's Holy days. Sounds like you need to go back to bible school. And stop listening to Doctrines and traditions of men!
      Shalom.

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, no man or woman, et cetera. This is what Paul said.
No man or woman? Does Paul support transgenderism or nonbinary?
Nope. In fact, he said there are clothing attires that only men should wear and women should wear.
What he meant is, a Jew and a Gentile is the same in God's eyes, but this doesn't abolish their unique roles and customs.

well, I see it a different way. if you believe in the christos, your a christian.
messanic judaism is simply another denomination of christianity. the jewish messiah that I'm waiting on is a descendent of King David thru King Solomon. in which jesus, being born of a virgin with no jewish father is completely out of the question. without a jewish father, then the tribal identity can't be determined. thus the whole story of Iesous/jesus/yeshua is completely fiction.

    • @perfectwordTV
      @perfectwordTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks for your question, Scott. It depends upon what one means by “Jewish.” But no, the Bible makes no such requirement or provision. The Bible only prescribes circumcision and intermarriage, but even then, that doesn’t make the Gentile “Jewish.”

The truth of the Messiah is in the NT but not in Christianity as it is the false teaching warned of by Paul. Watch 'Is Christianity the truth of the NT? No. #31 Myths in so-called Christianity'.
A Christian can be defined as a follower of Christ or Messiah, or defined as a follower of Christianity, but as Christianity has not the religion of Abraham it is false teaching.

@@perfectwordTV Ok, so being classified as a Messianic Jew means that you MUST have a Jewish ethnicity (by a known blood line of Jewish decent) and you follow Yeshua as your messiah, correct? Does being a Messianic Jew mean that you deny Judaism but not the Torah and accept all of the scriptures in a Bible? Also, what do you specifically call/title a gentile (me) who follows Yeshua as my messiah and worships on Saturdays, follows the Biblical feasts, eats "clean" food and denies Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc? - this has been a big ? mark for me lately.

    • @perfectwordTV

A lot of this is subjective. What you described as “Messianic Jew” is a relatively good explanation of what I believe; however, not all Messianic Jews would agree. Gentiles are similar. Some retain “Christian,” which is fine. Others call themselves “Messianic Gentile” or just “Messianic.” What we label ourselves isn’t nearly as important as the Name we should serve and proclaim!

    🤔
I would never say that but of course I don't speak for all and clearly some "Christians" have done terrible things in the name of Jesus.
Help me understand, I've often thought that a Jewish person is the only person that can be Jewish by birth (nationality) AND by religion.
So to leave Judaism is to leave the Jewish O.T. Jewish faith in a sense but in reality I agree with your opening statement that there is NOTHING more Jewish than following the prophesied Jewish Messiah! So in that sense 🤔 what part of the "Jewish religion/Judaism" did you really leave? 🤔

To “leave Judaism” is not to leave the Jewish OT faith in any way. To “leave Judaism” is to leave the man-made religion and traditions.

@Apollos2.2 Judaism ≠ Biblical Torah Jewish Faith. For example, Paul left Judaism behind (Galatians 1:13), but did not leave Torah/“the Law” behind (Romans 3:31). I hope that helps clarify.
