I know that some people didn't like that it was so fast but honestly, I think this is the best tutorial ever! I am a crocheter and I wanted to learn how to make this granny square so that I could make my mom a bag she saw online a couple of days ago. I have absolutely NO idea how to make a granny square but I really did enjoy this. Thank you so much❤️😁🫶🏼
I think it’s so cool to see people and how they started or what their experience is. I love seeing people who grew up crocheting or were taught and then the groups who taught themselves. The people who started with blankets and hats and sweaters and then people who started with stuffed animals and toys! It’s so interesting to me because to me anyone with a hook and some yarn and ends up with a completed piece is super talented bc crocheting is not easy sometimes. I learned about 2-4 years ago just by watching some TH-cam videos. The first thing I ever made was this TERRIBLE and small looking blanket for my grandma which I now own now that she has passed. I was so proud yet embarrassed but she loved it and used it all the time. Now I am trying to add to it so that I can use it myself and enjoy the piece that started my passion for crochet and was a prized possession by a dear loved one. I always struggled with stuffed animals and things like that but have made granny square sweaters and hats and blankets and pillows for people- patterns and sometimes no pattern at all! I love the crochet community out there and how supportive we are. To all those out there watching this- happy crocheting!!!
Aww thank you so much for sharing your heartfelt message ❤️ I love hearing about how people started their crochet journeys too and what projects they began with. The crochet community is awesome and there is always so much to learn and new projects and techniques to try! 🧶 Happy crocheting!

This will be my first attempt at a blanket or granny squares. In the past all I've made is amigurumi animals. So excited to give this a try when my kit arrives!
That’s so exciting how this will be your first attempt at a blanket and granny squares! And that’s wonderful how you’ve made amigurumi in the past! Enjoy crocheting your blanket with your kit arrives! Which colors did you choose?
Thank you so very much for this granny square blanket tutorial. I attempted to make my 1st ever granny square sweater, and I became so DISCOURAGED. I ended up donating it. This granny square blanket looks beginner friendly, and I'm so excited to try again. ❤
I got my Lion Brand kit for the exact same colors today and officially finished my first granny square for this pattern. I always wanted to make myself a blanket, but knitting a whole one seemed too much. I love the idea of crocheting a granny square, but didn't like the majority of styles. Yours is just right and beginner friendly with this video. Thank you!
Hi Marjorie! That’s so exciting how you received your kit today - glad you like the original colors! Great job making your first granny square 🌼 Thanks for your kind feedback about the video - I’m glad you found it helpful! It’s fun working on one square at a time and seeing them all come together in the end ☺️ Enjoy making your blanket and thanks for your encouragement!
This is such a pleasant video! So easy to follow and it worked out perfectly. I haven’t crocheted in 10 years, never was able to crochet a square with decent looking corners. But here I am, with a lovely looking square. Again thank you, you’re an inspiration! 🥳🌸🎉
Hey Ami I’m 12 and finding your pattern really helpful. Crocheting calms me and reminds me of my late auntie this video is the reason I got into crochet and I just want to say thank you.❤❤
Aww you are so sweet, thank you for your amazing encouragement! I’m so glad you’ve been finding this pattern helpful 💖 I’m so glad you’ve entered the world of crochet 🧶👍🏻
After watching dozens of daisy granny square tutorials, THIS is my favorite - because of the 2 rows of single crochet at the beginning! I did choose to do my last row by slip stitching in the back loop of 3 stitches to get to the corner and then working the traditional granny square corner and stitch pattern around the final row - rather than the way you featured - because I thought it would be a better transition to the lacy join i want to use. But I like your way too. Thank you for a great tutorial! ❤

This is my first crochet project and I’m so happy that I’m almost done with it! I’m so excited to finish it!! Thank you for this very very very good and beginner friendly pattern!!
Made this using this pattern for my first ever crochet project. I doubled the size and it took me 6months to finish. But wow it came out looking sooooo BEAUTIFUL!😍 Thankyou for this video!!!
I’m going to use this pattern but change the colors to make a sunflower blanket!!! Thank you so much for this I’m extremely excited. All I gotta do is go buy the yarn haha.
I am just starting to crochet again after some attempts a couple of years ago. I am not that good but I want to be. This pattern is a great way to start and it goes along very quickly so you feel really encouraged to push to get it done. We are going into fall and winter here so I am excited to have this blanket to keep me warm!!
Hi im Sara and I'm 11 my grandma used to crochet but she left this world so my grandma made a blanket just like this so I'm trying to make one thank you so much for this amazing tutorial 💗 this was very helpful and healing for my grandma 👵 end
Hi Sara! Thank you for writing your comment and sharing about your grandma ❤️ That is so special how you’re trying to make a blanket too! You’re very welcome 🥰 Enjoy the process!
I have been crocheting for a few months now and I am so excited to try this pattern! I love how quick this video is while still showing your work. I really appreciate the free pattern! 💕🧶
@@felicitywoodruffe4087 I have a UK pattern that I love and I found the translation on Google for each type of stitch both ways. Just Google translate American crochet abbreviations to UK. I hope that helps
Thank you! This pattern is gorgeous and so simple. I love your instructions, you break things down and easy to follow. I'm so happy with my gorgeous granny squares!!
Thank you very much for this tutorial, it was my first time trying granny squares and you made it so easy to me learning it. It worked at my first attempt! :D
Omg i made my first granny square from u thank u sooo much for this tutorial everything was so clear and the speed was on point thank u again ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I had smaller yarn and hook because I didn't have a kit. I wanted the granny squares to be bigger so instead of sc i did dc. instead of hdc i did htc. etc. The squares worked out great and I love this tutorial. Thank you!
This is soo beautiful!!! You have inspired me to start crocheting again after not doing it since I was 18 (I’m 27 now 😬) I would absolutely love to see you do a Sunflower Granny Square blanket like this one 🌻🧶💖
Thank you sooo much for your kind words 🥰 I’m glad this could help inspire you to crochet again! A sunflower blanket would be beautiful - if you check IG, there are ppl who changed their colors to make sunflower blankets ☺️
I’m learning to crochet after knitting for years and I found this video super helpful along with your blog post. 10 squares down, 32 to go! The only issue I’m having is how to join with a slip stitch without adding an extra 13th stitch when doing the center of the flower.
Thank you for your feedback! WOW, you’ve made a lot of squares - great job! I’m delighted to hear that you’re learning how to crochet. You can check out my TH-cam video called “Troubleshooting the Crochet Daisy” - it shows you how to count the 12 stitches!
You’re very welcome! That’s amazing how you learned the basic stitches today - you’ll gradually build up your skills with practice and patience 🙌🏻 You can do it!
Hi so you prob wont see this but i love your youtube channel and i thinknyou are such an amazing teacher and your instructions are so clear! I just wanted to let you know that i love rhis blanket and i made 1 last year for christmas and i am making another one this year for my grandma! ❤
Thank you sooo much for the love!!! I really appreciate your support and feedback - I’m so glad you find my instructions clear 🩷 That’s wonderful how you made a blanket for Christmas, and so special how you’ll be making one for your grandma! Thank you for taking the time to write such a sweet message - enjoy crocheting your second daisy blanket 🌼
Im making myself a granny square blanket but im not using the daisies, because i dont have a bulky 5 orange yarn but im doing my own design, u inspired me to do this ✨️
I love granny squares; there is so many beautiful ones to choose from. When I saw Stephanie showing her blanket on the Lion Brand site I knew I to HAD make it. I loved the colors she used but unfortunately the main color was not in stock; so I picked other colors and received today. I can’t wait to make this. Thanks so much for sharing Stephanie ❤❤gayle
Stephanie thank you for sharing. I’m going to pick up the yarn in salt. I need a more brighter color. The salt will do it lol. I’m terrible at picking colors 🧶🧶💜gayle
saw your daisy squares on Pintrest and the written pattern, the blanket is very beautifully & SO Neat finish Thanks for the same .I found reading the diagrams are much easier than the written pattern ,if you know your the basic stitches ! most difficult part I find is joining them all .......How you handle such HUGE project ..Just GREAT
Thank you for the tutorial. First time crocheting granny squares and my blanket turned out beautifully. Really, the hardest part was buying the yarn because most colors are sold out or I had to wait up to two weeks for delivery.
You’re very welcome! That’s amazing how this was your first time crocheting granny squares ❤️ Glad to hear your blanket turned out beautifully! Yes the yarn has been hard to get since the colors I used have been so popular. Thanks for your kind comment!
Hello all about ami! I’m autumn, a girl that just learned to crochet amigurumi plushies 2 years ago, it’s been so fun to watch your videos + follow your elephant pattern. I’m current,y giving myself a challenge, to make this beautiful blanket. I’ve already blown through 36 squares, and I’m proud to announce that I’ve learned to block my pieces! You inspire me so much! Thank you 😊
Hi Autumn! That’s sooo wonderful how you’ve made the elephant and now you’re challenging yourself with the blanket! Great job making 36 granny squares and learning how to block your pieces! Thank you for your kind words and encouragement, and keep up the great work!
Thank you for being so wonderful in taking the time to allow us to crochet along with you this beautiful blanket. I have been referring to your video while making my own blanket these last few days! Your voice is so lovely to listen too and your kindness and patience is shining through! I am excited to join up all my squares shortly! Woot woot! ❤
Absolutely gorgeous love, Daisies & in a blanket how special. Thank you for this special free Daisies blanket patern & the video to follow as I've found it difficult to follow a pattern, this will help me understand a crochet one myself. Yeah!! 🎉❤🙏💐
@AllAboutAmi ive decided to use 8ply acrylic wool. It's what i have at home atm. Im loving the new challenge & creating this pretty daisy pattern. Finding 5 rows, though, is only small granny squares compared to yours. What would you suggest to enlarge the square a bit more ? 🤔
also, is there any chance you could show how to end a row so it doesn't unfastened before starting another row and how to clean up the wool tags ❤ when the rug is finished. Plus, which is the front & back of the rug xx 😉 ❤🙏
Never made a granny square nor a blanket in my crafting life but I bought this pattern and all the yarns and hooks. A little ambitious, yes but I’m all in!😀Thanks for the very pretty pattern, Ami!
Thanks for sharing this very beautiful Daisy Granny Square Blanket pattern. I'm currently making one. And I am planning to make a second one for my mom.. I know how to crochet because of my grandma, but I haven't really made any big project. This will be my first big crochet project.. 😍
Wow! Thank you for your fabulous tutorial. For once I was able to see what was going on. I watched it through once to see if I could actually do it, and you made me feel I could. So thank you ion anticipation . Will let you know if I managed to make a blanket. I am very grateful for your lovely pattern. Very generous. I feel really happy about it.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback 🥰 Hope you enjoy crocheting these granny squares and this blanket when the time comes! Thank you for taking the time to write such a sweet and encouraging comment 💕
Thank you for posting this! You have inspired me to get into crocheting, I knit already so I have lots of yarn I just need to buy a hook. Going to make a bag out of daisy granny squares, thank you for the cute free pattern and demonstration! This video was super helpful to me as someone just starting out crochet ❤❤❤
Thank you sooo much for taking the time to write such a sweet and encouraging message 🥰 I really appreciate your feedback and I’m glad that you found it helpful! That’s wonderful how you already have plenty of yarn and you just need a hook! I have some daisy bag video tutorials on my TH-cam channel if you’re interested too ❤️
I am not new to crochet but new to the magic circle idea. I’d love to see a tutorial on the magic ring and slowed down. I’m a visual person and I think it’s the only part I’m constantly pulling out and redoing.
I have a separate video just for the magic circle that you can check out! Here on TH-cam it’s called “How to crochet the magic circle with regular & fluffy yarn”. You can also adjust the playback speed to 0.5x to slow the videos down!
Hi! I'm quite new to crocheting and I really wanted to try this pattern out, I think as a beginner it would really help if you went a little bit slower! Other than that this is a really beautify design and I really appreciate your work! Keep up the good work!!
Thanks so much for your kind encouragement - I appreciate it 🥰 If you click “Settings”, you can adjust the playback speed to 0.5x or even slower to slow down the video!
The play back is better but still needs more description as you can't see what yours pulling through very easily. I'm really struggling to understand what goes where even on the slow speed
I am losing my mind trying to do this, even bought the pattern from your Etsy. After crocheting 12 single crochets into the magic circle, we add the slip stitch into the first one, which makes us end up with 13 stitches as a whole. Then in the next round I end up with 14 single crochets into these stitches and add ANOTHER through the connection with the slip stitch. What am I doing wrong? 😭
Hi Sophia! After working 12 single crochets in the Magic Circle, you have 12 stitches - the slip stitch to the first single crochet does not count as a stitch since you're using it to close up the round. To begin Round 2, you chain 1 and then work 1 single crochet in the SAME st (where you slip stitched to close round). Thus, your number of stitches remains the same since you continue having 12 stitches! When it's time to close up Round 2, be sure to slip stitch to the FIRST SC, not the slip stitch or the chain 1!
As a beginner I had the same issue.. this is what helped me… In round 1 Mark your first single crochet loop with a marker… count exactly 12 single crochets for round two… it’s going to look like your skipping loop # “13(the chain stitch)” and go straight into the loop with your marker to chain stitch closed… ☺️ hope this helps
@allaboutami and lovely a: thank you both so much! I will work on my next blanket granny square tomorrow probably. Will open this comment section again for that and tackle it! I love the crochet community 💜
might be a different type of granny square we are talking about but I followed a different tutorial for pretty much the same concept, and instead of the magic circle I started with chaining five and doing the tiny chain into a circle, then chain 3, then I do 15 double crochets, join with a slip stitch, then chain three, then I do a puff stitch in every stitch from previous row starting from the current stitch, we got 16 puffs as a result. The rest should be straight forward just counting how many of the other kinds of stitches you can fit in
My sister has been asking for something since I learned to crochet late last year. I will make her this blanket for her birthday in October since I'm kinda slow at crocheting lol!!
@@AllAboutAmiBlog tip… Be careful how much you cut off the center for each center because I wasn’t careful and I ended up getting 41 centers when I needed 42. I was short about a half of one center lol I know better for next time. Then of course the die lot was different 🤪😊
@@Biswas_101the hue & me skeins are 4.4ounces/125grams. 137yds/125 meters. I’ve done 5 blocks tonight, but my blocks are 8-1-2” x 8-1/2”. Guess I crocheted too loosely which I never do, but I only have about a 2” ball of my first skein of sea glass color left after making the 5 blocks. So I would only get 35 squares by the lion brand kit listing of 7, 3, & 1 skeins of ur choice. Granted that would give me a 42.5 x 59.5 blanket in a 5x7 grid tho. I bought extra yarn just in case & bc I want to make the cardigan also so hopefully I’ll be ok with the skeins I bought. I was hoping to make a 60 x 60 square and I purchased other colors so it might just be scrappy when I’m done. lol. For my blanket I’m using Sea Glass, Rose Water, & Salt. I purchased my yarn online from Joann fabrics bc I had a coupon. Idk if agave and sea glass are the same or just similar, but Lion Brand did not have sea glass on their website. Sometimes they only issue certain colors to certain stores. Mary Maxim has the yarn also. I hated neutrals my entire life bc I love bright colors, but I have two white service dogs now & neutral colors hide all the flying fur. lol. Best of luck with ur project.
Thank you so much for this tutorial on how to make the daisy blanket I appreciate your time and hard work but I just stared learning how to crochet a single crochet but can't wait to try this out when I am better at crochet 💗!!
You’re very welcome! That’s wonderful how you just started learning how to crochet! Enjoy building up your skills and diving into the wonderful world of crochet 🧶❤️
Thank you for this beautiful pattern and tutorial! I bought the pattern from your Etsy, but I just had a quick question. When you say to slip stitch into the first single crochet to close round 2, does this mean the first single crochet stitch ever (like from round 1) or the first single crochet stitch from round 2? Like other commenters, I’ve been ending up with an extra stitch and it’s noticeable when I do the clusters in round 3 ☹️ I’m a beginner, so I apologize if this is a silly question, but I appreciate any insight you can offer!
You’re very welcome! Thank you for your kind words! To close round 2, you will slip stitch to the first single crochet that you made in round 2. This slip stitch “overtakes” the single crochet from below. Thus, when it is time to work the petals in each of the 12 stitches from Round 2, you actually work the petal in that slip stitch (and not the single crochet below it)! This should make it cleaner so that you don’t have that extra gap!
Thank you so much for this!! I almost ended up crocheting the wrong pattern not knowing there were 2 different ones 🙈Luckily I saw this at the last minute. They are both so beautiful, but I’m going for the larger one to take to the farmer’s market!
I've made lots of big projects like cardigan and bags but didn't even make even one granny square, at first I find it complicated but thanks to your tutorial I finally made one and will do more as I'm hooked to dis pattern. Thanks alot
Thank you so much for writing your sweet comment! I’m so happy that you were able to make your first granny square by following my tutorial 🥰 So glad you are enjoying the pattern! Have fun making more granny squares 🧶
if anyone is having trouble with the outer part, the square, bending as if theres too much, i reccomend that when you're first doing the corners you di 2dc 2ch 2dc instead of 3dc 2ch 3dc! i did that and it was better for the yarn i was using
I've only crocheted a octopus once and everyone thought it was a jellyfish. Now I'm about to start this! I cannot wait! I hope I'll manage as a true beginner to crochet, haha!
This is amazing! I found this somewhere in June and it gave me an idea- both my best friend and I LOVE crocheting (she's far better than me 😅), so I thought we could make matching cardigans; I would make a daisy one with brown as the main color, and she would make a sunflower one with white as the main color! She already finished hers, but I'm still doing mine, hehe. Thanks for the video!

I do the same thing but a bought the kit and ran out of yarn so now I’m just looking for answers.
Same. i am doing that, too, right now❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ i love this pattern
Hello! How do the petals work? Does it go 3 loop 4 loop repeat all the way around or not
I am just starting to crochet again after some attempts a couple of years ago. I am not that good but I want to be. This pattern is a great way to start and it goes along very quickly so you feel really encouraged to push to get it done. We are going into fall and winter here so I am excited to have this blanket to keep me warm!!
Thank you for your kind words 🩷 That’s wonderful how you are starting to crochet again! Enjoy crocheting and using your blanket!

Oh I love this so much .I'm going to try again but I really struggle with crochet and our UK stitches are different from your American stitches
@@felicitywoodruffe4087 I have a UK pattern that I love and I found the translation on Google for each type of stitch both ways. Just Google translate American crochet abbreviations to UK. I hope that helps

I had smaller yarn and hook because I didn't have a kit. I wanted the granny squares to be bigger so instead of sc i did dc. instead of hdc i did htc. etc. The squares worked out great and I love this tutorial. Thank you!
That’s wonderful how you made those modifications to make your square bigger 👍🏻 You’re very welcome - thanks for your kind words 💖 Thanks for sharing!

I would absolutely love to see you do a Sunflower Granny Square blanket like this one 🌻🧶💖
I started learning the basic stitches today. I can't wait to reach the level when i can actually attempt this! Thank you for the help!:-)

Thank you for the tutorial. First time crocheting granny squares and my blanket turned out beautifully. Really, the hardest part was buying the yarn because most colors are sold out or I had to wait up to two weeks for delivery.

Woot woot! ❤
Lovely work - you do a wonderful video and unlike some - the music was PERFECT !! Thank you for the perfect daisy square tutorial ! xo

Absolutely gorgeous love, Daisies & in a blanket how special. Thank you for this special free Daisies blanket patern & the video to follow as I've found it difficult to follow a pattern, this will help me understand a crochet one myself. Yeah!! 🎉❤🙏💐
Thank you so much for your kind words! You’re very welcome - enjoy the pattern!
Beautiful! Very well explained. Thank you! 🧶💕
Thank you so much for your kind feedback 🥰
Can't wait to start. Just ordered yarn. My daughter-in-law wants me to make it for her ❤
Oh that’s so wonderful how you’ll be making it for your daughter in law! I hope you enjoy crocheting this project!

Where is the kit? I can’t seem to find it.

Wow that's amazing, Kim!!! Great job! So glad you could follow along with this video and make your first granny square!
I'm a 13 year old, and this blanket looks stunning!!! I am definitely going to try and crochet it. Now I just need my mum to buy me MORE yarn. 😂
Aww thank you for your kind words 💖 I hope you enjoy crocheting this blanket 🧶
@@Mama.hikes.mountains that is true
Really pretty design! Thanks for sharing it.

May I ask: how many squares did u do and how big did your blanket ended? Thank you for this easy and beautiful tutorial! 🤍
You’re very welcome! I used 42 granny squares in total and the final dimensions were: 45”/114 cm x 52”/132 cm!
Thank you to you both I was looking for this comment!
@@AllAboutAmiBlogthank you from me too. Cant wait to make this beautiful blanket
Thanks so much for your time and how well you teach. Following you❤
Aww thank you so much for your kind words and support 🥰
As a beginner I had the same issue.. this is what helped me…
In round 1 Mark your first single crochet loop with a marker… count exactly 12 single crochets for round two… it’s going to look like your skipping loop # “13(the chain stitch)” and go straight into the loop with your marker to chain stitch closed… ☺️ hope this helps
Fun video, thank you. I made my 1st square using the same pretty colors you chose for the square in this tutorial.❤
That will be such a special gift!!! Enjoy crocheting this blanket for your sister ❤️
I know it’s a bit late to ask but how many balls of whool of each color do you need in total for the whole blanket? 🌸
You need 11 skeins of yarn in total: 7 main color, 3 petal color and 1 centre color 🧶
@@AllAboutAmiBlog Thank you so much 🤗🫶
@@AllAboutAmiBlog tip… Be careful how much you cut off the center for each center because I wasn’t careful and I ended up getting 41 centers when I needed 42. I was short about a half of one center lol I know better for next time. Then of course the die lot was different 🤪😊
@@AllAboutAmiBlogma'am can you please tell me what a single skein weighs?
@@AllAboutAmiBlog tyyy
Yes I have quite a few different daisy patterns! Glad you found the one you wanted to make 🩷
How many daisy flowers are needed for one small blanket?
I crocheted 42 daisy flowers for this blanket!

This is amazing! I found this somewhere in June and it gave me an idea- both my best friend and I LOVE crocheting (she's far better than me 😅), so I thought we could make matching cardigans; I would make a daisy one with brown as the main color, and she would make a sunflower one with white as the main color! She already finished hers, but I'm still doing mine, hehe. Thanks for the video!
