This is what I wish I knew before applying to uni. My time at Cambridge, Harvard and Oxford University has taught me that it's important to consider 3 factors before you apply to uni.
1.Consider what you want to do and whether a uni degree is necessary for it. For example, if you want to become a doctor, then you need a medical degree. But if you want to become a lawyer, then you don’t actually need a law degree
2.Second which uni does it best
Different unis have different strengths and it would be wise to apply to the uni that does your desired course the best.
Uni league tables often give a good idea of this.
3.Thirdly the Oxbridge-Ivy Phenomena
Oxbridge in the UK and Ivy league schools in America are generally weighted higher by most employers for most jobs.
For example, if you're applying to a competitive corporate law firm, having the Oxbridge name may help you.
This I believe is driven by many factors:
• Prestige
• Networking
• Competitive entry process
• Implied competencies
• Nepotism

Wow I learned something new
I didn’t know Oxbridge existed and Russell Group existed.
Just a tip: even if your preferred career doesn't require a degree it's smart to get one of some sort. Especially if your dream job has a competitive industry.
Personally I want to be an author (no degree required) but I'm getting a psych degree bc I enjoy it and it gives me a solid fallback career if I can't make it in writing. Obviously if you can't afford college and you don't need a degree, don't go into debt for it. But even going to community College and getting a general degree improves your chances of having a solid career.
Take that with a grain of salt, but it's just my advice from my experience.
Well this is embarrassing but I'm getting a creative writing degree now lol 😂 the point still stands that you should get a degree as a backup, but pick something you're passionate about. Otherwise you might have to change your major a few times
If you can already afford uni then damn that’s great
i am in the exact same mindset right now! i wanna be an author but i wanna take psychology because i can't find a literature major i really wanna do and i dont really understand the whole concept and difference between degrees and majors
fuck no don't do psychology please it's too hard to find a job after@@embodyingchaos06
I personally think apprenticeships are better due to the fact a lot of employers value experience over education
Only 5 of those 12 schools are in the Ivy League
Bro who told you if you want to become a lawyer you don’t require a law degree ? Don’t misguide people. There are different countries with different regulations and in some countries you need a law degree to even appear for the bar exam. Do your homework.
Bro is obviously talking about the uk, is he going to list all 193 countries and their laws, no
@@Dayvidalerxarndar little knowledge is dangerous. Who told you in the UK you can become a lawyer without a law degree? First do your homework. And who told you there are only 193 countries in the world?
@@imaffan you mentioned it in the video. You said to become a lawyer you don't need a law degree 😂
@@aadam1674 this is not my video bro I never said that you don’t need a law degree to practice law.
Great tips 🎉🎉
Tbh im tweleve I love education and learning new stuff and being in a classroom I would love to get into a good uni like Cambridge but I just want to extend my education but I have no interest in getting a high level job I just love learning

Lawyer doesn’t need a law degree?!? Wtf
might be talking about apprenticeships
@@_tooliSome of them are just intern and receptionist style jobs. Not all lawyers took the bar lol
at least in the UK there's conversion courses from other degrees to law

Thanks i'm from brazilian i dream of going to oxford
Hy
Please 😢 explain how to get admission in oxford University
..
It is very costly
...😢
@@thoufeeram.k4263you just have to apply and do interviews and stuff. But you can only get in if you have perfect grades
Just saying, the international intake for Oxford is very low, so you will have to be something very special to get in, but wish you the best of luck 😊
if your having a hard time telling which school is best at which just go by size economies of scale applies to college too
No
They r just interested in the fees alone
Then what degree I need to become a lawyer?
Great ❤️
I dream to complete law degree in Oxford University I am right or wrong
how i did it? can a normal student in senior high school can did it? and i m in different country,
Thank you God bless you
can i apply to 2 different countries at a time ? and im trying to get scholar i wish i could apply to south korea to get full scholar and USA (IVY league un ). IS IT POSSIBLE ?
This isn't really great advice tbh. Your three points are;
1- see if you need to apply, which is fair but at the same time I feel like everyone has already done that
2- look at subject league tables......yeah? That's like, step number one in picking a uni
3- Oxbridge and ivy league are prestigious....also extremely obvious. There isn't much meat to the video, just you stating rather obvious facts
do you have more in-depth advice?
What about coding like if you want to be a coder and make smt or smt

Can you apply for college to do pre med with 1 science subject ( chemistry) ?
Can I get into ivy league after undergraduate in medicine?
what about Imperial College London for engineering? Isn't it better than Oxbridge and all ivys?
do the international students in ivy league colleges face nepotism and religious , culture problems .

Yes, in most countries you can but in countries like here in Germany, either you have to do higher education or go to expensive private school
@@donaldbwawahow to do that can you pls tell me
What's the option for law, other than a uni degree?
A law conversion degree, so you do a degree in literally anything, then for a year you study law afterwards
