    this is so impressive. you're one of FOURTEEN people who got into the medicine course at oxford as an international student. combined undergrad and grad school. i wish to have your luck when i apply.

      That's partly because there are a lack of international applicants for oxbridge medicine unlike other courses. The cost is upwards of £500k.

    • @ZQmedicinspires
      @ZQmedicinspires  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It tends to vary between different colleges and even different rooms! In my first year I paid £23.34 per day for my room and £20+ is considered normal for college accommodation. Food depends on whether you choose to eat in hall (college catering) or to cook for yourself. It also varies a lot depending on your college (some are more expensive than others). I would say each meal can be about £3-5, so about £10/day for food, but much cheaper if you cook for yourself (about £25/week). You can check this link for estimates of students' living costs: www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/fees-and-funding/living-costs. But ultimately the specific living costs are hugely dependent on your personal spending habits.

      Hi, thanks for the kind comment! :) Yes I always had good grades in school (if that's what you meant), and I knew my grades would make it, but the medicine application is about a lot more than exam results - they also look at many other things as I mentioned in the video, and in the end when you get to the interview stage it all comes down to how you perform in the interviews. I was never really "scared" because there was nothing to lose in trying. All the best!

      Yes, there's a kitchen, unfortunately we didn't get to use it much this year due to COVID. At the Turl Street site where first years live, some rooms have shared bathrooms while some rooms are ensuite (you have your own bathroom). There are nicer kitchens and all rooms are ensuite at Cohen Quad where some second years and third years live. (This is only for Exeter College, other colleges may be different!)

    Hi! I am from Turkey and I and doing IB in my school. Unfortunately, we are no able to take biology, chemistry and physics at the same time as part of the program as it is mandatory to have only one science course and one optional. For my higher level courses I take math, chemistry and biology, meaning my physics knowledge is only limited with 9th and 10th grade physics, therefore I am quite concerned that I won't be able make the physics section. Was there a part of the curriculum of the BMAT that you did not cover as part of your A levels? If there was, how did you overcome it? I would appreciate if you give a detailed response. Hi, I’m not too sure on that but you should be able too. You’ll just have to check online which qualifications / exam results they accept for admissions!

    • @ZQmedicinspires
      @ZQmedicinspires  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure if this might help: www.medsci.ox.ac.uk/study/medicine/pre-clinical/requirements/academic. You may need to try and find yours in the international qualifications.

    Doesn't Oxford demand IELTS and SAT or ACT ?

    • @ZQmedicinspires
      @ZQmedicinspires  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, I don't think so, but it depends on which country you're from and which exams you normally take (whether it's recognised by the university).
      For IELTS, you can check here: www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/graduate/international-applicants/english-language-requirements
      You can find which exam results are acceptable for your country: www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/applying-to-oxford/for-international-students/international-qualifications
      For other admissions tests, it depends on your course (e.g. BMAT for Medicine).

      in Singapore, we take the GCSE A Levels exams by Cambridge, and as long as a C grade is achieved, there's no need for IELTS and SAT/MAT/ACT

      @ZQmedicinspires  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure about that, but you can find all the info online. I think it may be a bit different for different unis, but in general it seems to be "For international students wishing to study Medicine at undergraduate level, an IELTS score of no less than 6.5 across all four categories - reading, writing, speaking and listening - with an overall 7.0 score generally required at most universities." (according to this website: www.studyin-uk.com/popular-courses/medicine/)

      Yes, the eligibility for each scholarship depends on your course/degree and your country of origin. The university's list is here: www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/fees-and-funding/oxford-support (scroll down for international student scholarships).
