Settings for the best motion clarity this LG C1 can give you, which is the equivalent of 240fps Sample and hold displays.
All these settings are equivalent in terms of motion resolution and they only differ in input lag and motion Interpolation artifacts:
For 30hz/30fps games: De-Judder on 10 Motion Pro Medium (highest input lag and Motion interpolation artifacts)
For 60hz/60fps games: De-blur 10 Motion Pro Medium (better input lag with a lot less artifacts)
For 120hz/120fps: Motion Pro High (almost a CRT dream)

So playing a game that actually runs at 120fps, and then using MotionPro high is the equivalent of 240fps as far as motion blur reduction & motion resolution gain are concerned?
A legit game running 240fps should get latency down to 2.5ms(120 is 5ms), and the resolution should double from 120's 600p to 1200p. But ya, i stay clear of even MotionPro Low and Auto simply because they cause severe shadow detail crushing. I dont have the equipment or expertise in order to correct it, so :P But even if it IS corrected, what happens when you turn BFI off and go back to regular 120fps? The picture or gamma will be incorrect.

Thanks alot for your videos, they really help to get into this topic. I bought the same TV (48,C1) last week for 670€ together with a PS5. It is amazing what you get for the money. I am currently playing Cyberpunk and set it to RT (30fps) with de-judder 7 (much less artifacts than 10). motion pro low. I find it very playable despite the input lag which I can cope with.

  • @JoshuaJSlone

On my old TV the motion smoothing option introduced enough latency that it wasn't reasonable to use for games, though it was occasionally interesting to toggle on just to see what it looked like. So when I got my LG C2 I assumed it would be much the same and didn't even try it with games for a long time. When I finally did I was as pleasantly surprised as you are here. If there's any additional latency it's not enough to be noticeable for the kind of games I play, and I think the artifacts around the areas of biggest motion are a pretty fair tradeoff for what on the whole looks like a much more stable image.

Frame/Motion interpolation has existed for a very long time (my 10 year old Samsung TV has it - Auto Motion Plus). I have always found it works great for adventure/racing/rpg/action/etc any offline games for the most part (even though every time you mention it online everyone cringes and shuns you). For playing multiplayer games (FPS/Fighting) you will want no input lag in order to play competitively so you wouldn't want to use motion interpolation of any kind. Also, playing retro games like Punch-Out require VERY precise timing so you'll definitely need no input lag for that as well. Using it for games like Breath of the Wild or Witcher 3 made the games feel so much smoother. I'm looking into getting an LG C2 as you mentioned in this video so I'm interested to see how modern TVs handles motion interpolation nowadays.

I hardly noticed input lag until a friend told me. And with the current gen games i don,t experience input lag at all, and i tried it vs the game optimizer settings. The only annoying input lag i experience is with 2d sidescrollers and retro games, but if i play those i put my screen back into game optimizer. Im thinking about getting the lg c2 for motion interpolation. I would use RTSS to cap 30 fps. Next In Nvida Control Panel I would use Low Latency mode on and the Vsync set to adaptive. Under display I would use gpu scaling for aspect Ratio and in game settings I would use motion Blur and DLSS To quality. I would at least think that combo would improve input Latency and fix artifacts. It would be an interesting experiment.

For 30fps, it really depends on the game. Racing is kind of ideal for smoothing since it's just things gliding across the screen. But if you have a character running around, their limbs become heavily artifacted with high de-judder. I find that the "Cinematic Movement" preset is the limit where artifacting isn't that noticable, but it also only smoothes things a little. It seems to roughly approximate the way 30fps looks on non-OLED displays.

🎉😅 Hii, How about if i want to make 30fps or so look like [60fps only] like on 60Hz TV's with motion interpolation set to smooth (wich is like de-juder highest level) can you still get that somehow, on 120Hz tv's. Something like 60Hz only mode for the TV (like Samsung smartphone has 60Hz or 120Hz Mode in settings) or only if you set de-juder to only 5 (instead of 10) bcouse Tv is running in 120Hz mode (only) wich i would not like on videos only on games maybe haha.

@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Oh Ok, Thanks for answering. But from what i know (from cameras or game settings) blur is for making the good clear images more blury (like in games) for more smooth transition from one to another for the eyes (only), but when you pause such content, like on recorded videos the images are blury (and they use slower shutter speed for that blury images effect) and in games they sometimes have that also in settings. And de-blur it sounds to me just to make images more clear, but i don't have such an tv (but i was planning to buy one on offer) only have a lower LG with LCD/ADS (wich i don't like watching at it too much) and has only 60Hz on the good side for me, and with motion smoothnes to very smooth it makes any fps look like 60fps, wich i like now that i got used to it (the soap opera effect). But i would not like if it makes content to 120fps becouse the TV is running in 120Hz even when you conect some 60Hz (only) device, wich should make TV refresh only at 60Hz (ACTUALY). AND on my 50/60Hz tv if i have [device] set to 50HZ (in europe also has that mode) the TV also refreshes at 50Hz/sec only. But on 100/120Hz TV's i don't know sure if it also can 50/60Hz mode altrough on rtings it say it suports (such rezolutions like 4k at 60Hz or 1080p 60). And i will have to make that from de-juder (at only half or so) then, wich would not be very precise for me. Haha

Considering C1 has 120 BFI, but C2 has better motion interpolation, which would give the best motion clarity for 30 and 60 fps games (on console)?
Now, considering the C2 has only 60 BFI.. does that mean it will not give any additional motion clarity when enabled, as opposed to just using interpolation? What happens if you use only BFI?
Although you already have many video about these topics, the perfect video for me would be testing all the possible framerate, interpolation and BFI combinations possible, with 30, 60 and 120 fps locked. And then ranking those results in terms of perceptive motion clarity, and possibly adding input lag info. For example, what happens when you compare 30 FPS, 30 FPS + BFI, 30 FPS + TruMotion, 30 FPS + BFI + TruMotion, and 60 FPS. And then do the same with 60 FPS and 120 FPS. In the end make comparisons with plasma. Because I have a high end Plasma and know how smooth 60 FPS looks on it, I genuinely wonder which of the possible framerate/BFI/TruMotion combinations on OLED are able to match or exceed the cleanliness of plasma’s 1080 lines of motion resolution, if any. This is a significant undertaking, but I think it would be the ultimate.
I’d try it myself if I had a CX or C1, but currently have an A1 which has TruMotion only for 24p content and no BFI at all.

You need to understand motion clarity with persistence instead of lines of resolution. My Plasma TV guarantee minimum motion blur is 4ms of persistence=4 pixels of motion blur when moving at 1000 pixels per second; but it doesn't actually reach that level at higher than 240 pixels per second speeds because of other limitations like GtG and ghosting.
The LG G2 at 120fps sample and hold has 8ms of persistence= 8 pixels of motion blur when moving at 1000 pixels per second, I don't know how good the 60bfi is on the C2 but on the C1 OLED Motion Pro High at 60Hz/fps reduces the persistence to 6.3ms, at 100Hz/fps 3.8ms and at 120Hz/fps is 3.2ms. I will do a video...

That is absolutely amazing. Before using my C1's motion interpolation, setting Witcher 3 in such a high resolution would result in making the game not totally unplayable (as my GTX 1080Ti has 11 GB of VRAM), but the motion would look very slow, due to the low resulting FPS. Now I can play the game in 5760x3240 resolution and the motion looks natural and smooth. It's like a miracle. I thought that would only be possible after buying a new RTX graphics card. • @THENEVERDEADIV
      @THENEVERDEADIV ปีที่แล้ว +1

what really helps with that is if your game gives you the ability to set the FOV in third person mode.. the further away the camera is from your character the less artifacting.. unless its ff15.. almost nothing gets rid of that games issue. Any game that uses the unreal engines hair physics is gonna artifact like crazy in motion interpolation.

@plasmatvforgaming9648 80+ ms on LG with interpolation vs 20+ millisecond on samsung with interpolation. It's not even close. You only feel it's tolerable in your video because you're driving in a straight line. But try speeding up and with many curves, you'll easily lose control.

Both tv´s are not giving me sharp images.
With this de judder its much sharper.. for example.. watching tv.
On the c1 the de judder is no good.
Overal i´m still dissapointed because i dont think lg is any good.
I think these tv´s are just unfinished and we are test subjects.

Watch my videos about the blur busters law, motion clarity is improved with De-Judder for 24 and 30fps/Hz content. The C2 has better motion interpolation and the C1 has better bfi. On the LG C1 120fps/Hz BFI with give you great motion clarity (High would be like playing at 312fps)

120 FPS? not by a long shot. It very slightly improves on a lousy situation. Test The Witcher 3, for example. "Performance mode" 60 FPS = buttery smooth, snappy camera and character movement. "Ray tracing mode" 30 FPS = sluggish gameplay, like your character and camera are moving through water, and no amount of de-judder or tech magic options really help. Same goes for Cyberpunk 2077. It happens in my Samsung Q50 QLED and LG C2 OLED and it's impossible to play like that. It does NOT happen in my "old" living room Samsung LED TV. I thought more advanced and expensive tech should be better, not worse!
