    I’m an environmental scientist and I loved your video! And even further back in time, scientists like Arrhenius theorized global warming due to increased carbon dioxide emissions in the late 1800’s. We’ve known about global warming for over 100 years, but back then the dire consequences seemed so far into the future. And I think that’s why Arrhenius’s research was so well-received at the time. Although I welcome anyone who may know more than me to shed light on this time period since the focus on what I learned is more modern. I’m more of a scientist and not a historian. Also I love the music selection from “Ori and the Will of the Wisps” for the environmentalism section. :)

      Also the signs that I have seen on the highway that say “crypto empowers” is a load of garbage given the environmental, social and racial inequalities that arise from it.

      For your bonus game at the end of your video, the song used in the last section of environmentalism is “Separated by the Storm” from “Ori and the Will of the Wisps”.

    I’ve had multiple people look me in the eyes and tell me they believe housing is not a human right and if people can’t pay rent then they don’t deserve to have housing. They sincerely believe it. I don’t know how to teach these people empathy and compassion.
    They genuinely believe profit is more important than people. They genuinely want poor people to starve and die from exposer.
    Even when I was a conservative as kid (I’m from rural Kentucky) I still believed people in taking of each other, community caring for one another.
    Today I personally consider myself an Eco-Leftist. I agree with many Socialist, Marxist, and Anarchist principles but I’m not beholden to any one group. I am specifically about Environmentalism as a future hydrologist in college.

      The video goes into it a bit in the material politics and seeing past left and right parts, but the short version I would say is the effectiveness of political party being viewed as an identity rather than a vehicle to change policy. There's also that the true nature of the economic debate has been largely hidden by both parties for generations. Like, you won't see mainstream democrats calling capitalism into question in any meaningful way, in a way that speaks to the economic devastation of rural America. Many rural Americans' only frame of reference for democratic action is NAFTA and other free trade projects. These have been pushed by both parties over time, but it's much more associated with the democratic establishment than the republican establishment. With nobody making a concrete argument for meaningful (that is to say, further than neoliberal) leftward progress the message doesn't even enter their ecosystem. If you look at the 2016 D primary results you can actually see a lot of rural support for Sanders for example, but he's one of only a handful of institutional political figures making the argument nationally.
      This is all likely a gross oversimplification but that's how I see some of it at least.

      Not that I personally identify as a communist. Nor is this video about communism in any meaningful way.

    overall this video was pretty good. script could have used one or two more editing passes probably, just minor stuff. and there's the pronunciations others have mentioned.
    one factual note that I haven't researched myself so idk who's right here, but I thought that the change from "global warming" to "climate change" was an attempt (however misguided) to counter the traditional chudly position of "well it was cold outside the other day, therefore the globe isn't warming, checkmate liberals", and came from the scientific community rather than the political establishment. Now, it's possible I've swallowed a lie about that, but it doesn't seem natural to me that "climate change" is a better-for-capital term than "global warming." It puts an emphasis on the concept of "climate" as opposed to "weather," which is important obviously, and leaves room for "change" besides just warming - ocean acidification, natural disasters, etc. I don't really think using that term "softens" the message, as opposed to "global warming" which probably sounds pretty good to anyone living north of the 40th parallel. Especially if, as sometimes happens, you combine the two and call it "global climate change."
    obviously there are problems with the way that, say, the american democratic party tries (or pretends to try) to implement policy changes regarding the climate, but the climate discourse from "liberals" outside of washington dc is generally pretty good compared to their discourse on so many other things. people seem generally fairly aware that the greed of fossil fuel industry billionaires is killing the planet. honestly climate discourse seems like a perfect gateway drug to convert a lot of liberals to leftists.

    • @SardonicSays
      @SardonicSays  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely fair points. Should have gave 'Fiat' another try. I probably should have gone into it a bit more but 'Climate Change' is another invention by Frank Luntz, the republican strategist who gave us the 'Death Tax' substitute langugage for the 'Estate Tax' to stir up opposition to it.
      In that same way, the phrase 'Climate Change' was chosen to downplay it because 'Global Warming' evokes imagery of boiling oceans, heat waves, and whatnot. This was the logic at the time anyway, 'Climate Change' in non-chud circles has become so normalized that it's hard to even remember its original origins, and it just feels so perverse to accept the framing of a republican strategist of all people.
      Here's a little detail on the source: www.theguardian.com/environment/2003/mar/04/usnews.climatechange

    Here from the goon ad. Have you looked up Thought Slime? He has a segment on his channel called The Eyeball Zone where he talks up a leftist project - usually a TH-cam video - from a small-time creator. The segment is at the end of most of his videos, and he always explains how to submit a project for consideration. GL, comrade!

    • @SardonicSays
      @SardonicSays  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A good question! But the blockchain technology itself that makes the anonymization and decentralized nature of crypto possible is separate from the action of mining it. One can use blockchain without 'mining'. Mining just enforces a scarcity, getting more and more difficult the more total crypto activity is out there.
