@@darrenlamb5640 I remember the name from the Paul McCartney Beatles song “Rocky Raccoon”, which mentions “Gideons Bible”, which I believe is a group that put bibles in hotel rooms across the country. Personally I would never open up a bible, but it works for some people I guess.
This is from memory so excuse me if I get some of it wrong:
Rocky raccoon, fell back into his room, only to find Gideons Bible. Well Gideon checked out, and he left it no doubt, to help with good Rocky’s revival.

Just bought a Kansbol and took it for its maiden voyage in the George Washington National Forest. It did everything I needed it to do. It really does feel good in your hand. The blade was super sharp from the factory and I was super happy with it. I got the orange knife in case I ever dropped it, it would be easier to spot.

Smart choice on color! The whole low-viz thing is counter productive IMO for outdoor gear. The tacticool crowd pretends everything is a spec-op mission. The reality is hi-viz is far more safe and practical for gear you a actually use.

I am new to Mora and overwhelmed - I want them all. This clip has helped me greatly to slim down my choices. I have watched a few of your videos, and as a Brit, find you very refreshing and easy to listen to and understand. Whilst entertaining, there is no unnecessary waffling, and full of facts. A great job. Many thanks.

Great video. I love the Kansbol. As an addition to the line-up I want to suggest the 510. This little knife is very capable and is remarkably strong. This ultra light and compact knife can do almost everything the compagnion can do . It's the perfect e.d.c. or backup blade.

Mora 2000 was designed as a hunting knife. The compound grind (thin tip) is there to make it easier to skin game and cut sinews in joints. It was quickly and lovingly adopted by all kinds of outdoor people. The kansbol is basically mora 2000 3.0. The mora 2010/bushcraft forest being the 2.0. The garberg is fashioned after the mora 2000/2010/kansbol, not vice versa.

Anyone looking to purchase their first Mora would do well to watch this review . Thanks Aaron , as always , for this very objective , honest and practical assessment of these outrageously popular bushcraft / survival blades . I actually like the sheaths on my Moras (regular Companion MG & High Q Allround) but would have to agree that the belt clips are a bit awkward and less than ideal . Since I usually carry my Mora inside the pack (always rocking my mid-size SRK instead) , the clip isn't really an issue for me , but instead have added a hi-vis paracord lanyard , girth hitched around and through the belt clip hole , that is highly adjustable for length , so that when in camp it can be used as a dangler , a neck carry , a tree hanger , etc. Perhaps someone might find this carry mod idea useful . It has definitely improved things here ! All the best . Glenn

I’ve had several Mora carving knives, a Kansbol , a 5/11 and I just got a stainless companion with a rubberized handle . I have done some nice finish carving with the carving knife and I like the little 5/11 and I really like the new companion it’s so sharp and does food prep great 1/8” tomato slices and chicken just fine . Of all of them the Kansbol is my least favorite, I can’t seem to sharpen it !

Excellent comparison video! The only downside of the recommended best Mora, is that perhaps should have recommended more of its food prep capability at the expense of knife tip strength. All in all, however, a number of excellent points and a fine analysis. Very important point on construction material differences. Keep up the Great work!

I love the vintage laminated steel Mora knives that you can sometimes stumble upon. Current production laminated steel Mora knives are good as well, but I like to think that the vintage ones are just a tad bit better. They are also completely ambidextrous and the laminated steel makes for easy upkeep of that scandi-grind.
Personally, I also like the old school 510 (the new 511 is ok, too), especially for the price and the 440 (Scout model, sadly discontinued) as well as the Mora 106, which is hard to beat for a dedicated woodcarving knife.

  • @LG-cz6ls
    @LG-cz6ls 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The Companion is also available in orange and black.
Also, the sheath harks back to their original purpose as knives for on site, fishing, etc, so you can attach it to the pocket of a shirt, safety harness, or whatever. Attach it to your torso and you are more likely to realise it has gone missing.
That said, I love my Kansbol. And every Mora I've owned has been excellent value and sharp as a Barracuda out of the box!
    Thanks for the review

Hi, I got many Moras, but after a short time I sold a lot of them. My favorit knifes are 2, the Mora Kansbol, I got 2 different colours in green and orange and the new model of 2019 the Mora Companion Spark. The Spark fits cool in my hand, got size 10 in gloves, and you got the firesteel in the handle, it´s the big brother of the "light my fire" knive which had corperated with Mora, but they don´t sell this knife any more. All you need for camping or hiking or light bushcraft is the Companion Spark with a very sharp spine in my opinion !!! Good channel, good videos, keep rollin man, like it. Greetings from germany. I was surprised the Mora Classic 2 and 3 were not in the comparison. Still loving my Garberg stainless with leather flap sheath ($55) from last year. I don’t collect knives but I love a good tool. 👍

I’ve been carrying some type of pocket knife and knife for 50 years and I JUST got my first Mora 546 recently lol and I love this little thing and maybe more to carry than my Issue Kabar. I want to get another Mora and I’m thinking the Garberg or Kansbol especially after this amazing Video, thank you my friend truly for all the great Intel you give us in your Honest and unbiased reviews. Stay safe my Friend Semper Fidelis

My adult knife collection started with the Bushcraft Black. I haven't used it in awhile. Pulled it out today to prepare wood for a fire. Damn, what a good knife. Does most everything great. I'm thinking about picking up a Kansbol or an Eldris.

I have the Mora Garberg I wanted a full tang bushcraft knife and the option I purchased had the leather dangler with the ferrosium rod attachment and sharpener on the same attachment it has served me well for the 2 years I've had it for it was the Stainless Steel blade to boot as I live in Wales one of the wettest places on earth I personally have ever been to ha ha.

Excellent video,my friend in my humble opinion the Mora Garberg is the best value and best for hunting.I'm a big Scandi knife fan eg. Mora,Helle,Eka and I have two Bark River knives a few Buck and Gerber. But when I'm going hunting it's two Garbergs I bring, great knives, stay safe.

Agreed. The Kansbol is fantastic. The Companion Fire Starter is great but the kansbol tip and length nail it.

My GoTo Mora 90% of the time 'had' been the Bushcraft Stainless Survival Orange package. The other 10% was mainly ice-fishing with the 2000 or the collaboration Light-My-Fire. Bushcraft Black tactical in Moly just in the collection. Since obtaining Garberg 14c28N --- it is the #1 carry 90% of time mixing it up w/ the Eldris on occasion. I have the Kansbol... but it mainly hangs out in multi-mount as part of my Mora appreciation collection. If I had to say what is the best MORA (and only 1)... I'd say go Stainless Garberg in Leather Sheath. Multi-mount is only a good selection viable to reliable retention when creatively modified. IF the 'all-arounder best was based on 'value' with multi-mode capability... Companion, Robust , and Craftline HighQ Allround. 'Best' for little detailed task #1 classic & 511.

Agree with your choice and came to this same conclusion a little while back, as I am about to buy one. Of course, the ultimate Mora would be the Kansbol in full tang.

My favorite is Companion. Like you said, Bushcraft handle is awkward for those times you do power/shoulder pull cuts.
I think I'd be more sold on Kansbol if it rocked the 14C28N instead of the 12C27N.
Can anyone confirm if the Mora 2000 also is 12C27N??? They have a special edition going on

      one more question :
the Sandvik 12C27 and 14C28N come in knives from all over the world. they have different HRC coming from different factories. the occurance of chipping is different, too. they all claim it's due to their heat treatment.
      so what is it ?
