Japan is so far ahead
It's just the UK that's so backwards
in technology yes but in other ways it is quite behind.
Fax machines are still in most offices and almost everything is still done on paper.
As Japanese here, we are so lucky to have Guy in our country!

Japan is one of the cultures that value their elders. As most should. Sadly a lot of first world countries dont seem to really care.
@Rik von Himmlick- Schpoonler Yeah, I think we might not have had that in our culture due to early deaths in our past. With things like the plague claiming so many lives. We kinda took for granted that we should just live our best life and not focus on others since it was so short.
@slevinlindsay I think that's part of it. As a scandinavian. We dont have very tight groups outside of parents and siblings and granparents. For example my cousins I met for the first time in 10 years four years ago. I dont even consider them family. Where as in alot of cultures cousins are usually very close. It's just not sometihng thats enforced by our parents. It's a shame.
@slevinlindsay There's been research that a lot of us scandiavians dont get enough D vitamin during the winter months as we barely have any sun. And most of us go to work in the dark and come home in the dark. D vitamin is vital for a lot of things including happiness. So there could be a correlation there aswell. Our culture is like you said pretty much "mind yourself and dont interfere with others". We're not rude, but we understand to be respectful of others. Something I feel a lot of americans lack, hence why a lot of europeans feel americans on average are quite obnoxious and loud.
Russians have a very different culture and history than ours so I'd expect them to be vastly different. If I had to speculate it's that russia has always been a rough place to live in. So you have to focus on family because one day they may not be there. Like how Stalin killed off a lot of russians. Where as us scandinavians havent had to work about that.
Yeah it really is. A lot of culture is based on history which is neat.
The biggest problem with old peoples homes, at least down here in Aus, and I suspect a lot of first world countries is that the privatised homes are profit driven which leads to corners being cut and the elderly being treated like shit all for the sake of a few more dollars. I think even the state owned ones are profit driven theses days and probably working on a crap budget in the first place. Some of what happens is bloody disgusting.

I really love his shows on Japan, as he shows a lot of variety as compared to other J-vloggers who focus only on one niche (relationships, foreigners, etc). I like how he highlights serious things like Japan's aging population that is also entertaining and informative at the same time.
I work construction and the thing I enjoy the most is I work my ass off everyday to not need a gym membership. I turned 38 yesterday and I've been 190lbs at 6'2" for 21 years. Don't use those help me machines because it will weaken you in the long-term. Unless it's a jacket with built-in fans for cooling you off. It was 112° heat index here with 101°F actual temp with 89% humidity. I love you Texas but we might break up.
It's crazy to think that a Japanese company owner designed a coat with fans built in to keep his workers cool and less than 1000 miles away the CCP in China have to install nets to catch workers from jumping out the upper windows.

I remember being little and they would give the dementia grandmas baby dolls to take care of and they would love them so much. At the time it made me sad like they were being tricked. I understand now that it really does help and robots are just a logical step I suppose.

Volvo/Ford use exo-skeletons for workers🤘 also robot cats are used in Sweden for the same reason 🙂
