    If you pick it up from ground, you have intuitively a semi-western grip. However, in my view, Eastern is not ideal for modern forehand technique but, of course, for Federer. But the point is that the grip is very individual and as long as it is not continental or extrem western it will work 😉

    • @sougata43
      @sougata43 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely, actually picking up a racquet from the ground turns you to hold in bable no 4

    Milan, thanks for clearly explaining the forehand technique in 6 simple steps! I will recommend your video to my students. I use the same mechanics and steps when I teach Forehand ground stroke. - Split Step, Unit Turn with both hands on the racket, Contact Point, Follow through with racket over left shoulder, etc. If I were to add one more step, that would be the Ready Position before the Split Step. I know it's a common sense for many players but may not be for the beginners. For the ready position, I have my students hold the racket in the front of body with both hands on the racket using proper grips, shoulder facing the net or the opponent, knees slightly bent and get ready to receive the ball. Thanks.

    By far the clearest exposition of the forehand, thank you so much! When I learned tennis some 45 years ago from a coach in India, I was taught the eastern grip. I thought it fell out of favor along the way, but I guess it's back. Can't wait to try this out!

    Milan, thank u 4 showing us modern f/h bio-mechanical technique. I can always feel ur passion in ur teachings& explanations. When picking🎾racquet up from ground it's actually Semi-Western grip. Shake hand equals eastern grip. (Only my understandings.) Your explanations on index base knuckle positions are 100% correct. Two👍🏻👍🏻thumbs up from ATLANTA 🇺🇸. Do you.😁😄

      I have now come to the conclusion that as you say keep the 5/10 titness throughout the swing but I think a the point of contact with the ball I automatically tighten my grip on the racquet for that fraction of a second at contact possibly to approx 7/10

      I'm not an expert but my understand of "semi-open stand" is simply a "fan" like stand where the stand allows you to turn your body without clogging up. You open up your feet so as a righty, your right feet starts the unit turn (since it is easier that way), and your left feet pointing forward the court, since that's easier once you finish the uncoil. I could be wrong however.

    • @pencilcheck
      @pencilcheck 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also another qruestion, why recommend federer's grip? Shouldn't more extreme grip give you more time to hit the forehand since you don't need to hit so in front of your body?

    Great lesson Milan! I have a question about the follow through. I wonder what happens straight after contact. Do you extend the racquet with the strings towards the target and then release the forearm for the windshield wiper or you extend and release the forearm at the same time?

    • @tenfitmentennisimpulse
      @tenfitmentennisimpulse  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks so much for your comment, glad you like it. That's a great question. Actually you want to release even before the contact, but because of the momentum of your swing, your racquet should naturally follow through and lead into the windshield wipers motion. Definitely both release and extend! Please share this video with others so that they can learn as well!

    If a player has trouble laying the wrist back in wrist extension, difficulty getting racket lag, do you have any suggestions? How important is wrist layback position, seems that players who lack it are unable to generate racket speed and achieve clean contact (the wrist goes into flexion and there’s a loss of power and spin production. Appreciate your thoughts 💭

But consistency is the real issue...I’m wondering what is THE factor (among many I guess) that allows better positioning to the ball and consistency? Should your leg lift on the forehand be natural or more forced?

    just curious, what size grip is your racquet?

    Nice technique! Thank you for sharing. Where are you? You have an empty clay to play on. This is a dream! I am in San Diego. Mostly hard courts. My joints😕

      Hard courts are so much better lmao , clay sucks balls . No consistent bounce , balls come so high , slow af , dirty f'ing shoes , rain ruins the shit out of them , lines get erased ,
      Clay courts suck suck donkey balls

    One thought, I would be interested in the tightness of the hand grip on the racquet handle, does it change from the split step to contact with the ball

      George Allen you don't really want much tension in the hand throughout the swing so in my opinion no more than a 5/10 on the tightness scale and don't change it through the swing. 🎾👍

      @@bazkeeley9618 Thanks Baz I can appreciate low grip tension gives a relaxed arm swing but I feel that the grip must tighten at or just before contact to have a firm racquet to direct it in the direction of the shot and stop racquet spin. Do you think 5/10 of tightness at contact is sufficient, if that is what you have at contact(no change in grip pressure throughout the stroke)then i will test this out tomorrow, assuming we get no rain and hopefully give feedback. I also susspect body bulk has some effect, a large chap say over 100k kilograms may have enough kinetic energy to get away with 5/10 but I am only 71 kilos so I have to get firmer at contact (just a thought). I find the detail interesting the truth is in the detail not the devil!!

      George Allen hey George did you manage to try it out?

      @@bazkeeley9618 Still trying to figure it out,(we have had rain) I appreciate the 5/10 grip which gives a relaxed feel to the stroke but i think one automatically without thinking tightens the grip on contact. One thing I do feel that in my case i am swinging from the shoulder to much and not flexing my elbow joint enough on the follow through, looking forward to a good weekend here on the coast of NSW so i will concentrate in getting to grips with a goodgrip and then try and give you some more feedback. I and many others appreciate your dedication to your interest and help with you videos

      @@fairman1455 tightening just before you hit the ball isn't good . All that racket speed , and all of a sudden you put breaks on that ( which will happen naturally when you tighten the grip ) , it puts a shit lot of pressure on the back of the hand .
