      kick serve is hard to master because it has some level of requirement on your physical condition. like are you able to jump up accelerate? are you able to bend your shoulder and rotate etc. it is the most demanding on the body...

    I found the "elbow pointing upward as you finish" tip very useful. Really does make a substantial difference to the kick..

    Great video...
    My suggestion: At 08:00 you say. "You are hitting slice because the toss is not more to the left."
    I think his toss is fine. The reason he is hitting slice is because he was not sideways at contact -- opening the chest too early.

    • @tenfitmentennisimpulse

      Thanks for the comment Raul! I see your point, body position is very important here as well! Well noticed!

    • @KOACH2007
      @KOACH2007 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, I agree the toss is to the left but you are right about the chest. Notice how early his opens up like he is hitting a slice or flat serve and notice at the end how he is going away at the landing in a different dir. When he was serving on his knees which was great he stand balance and his chest was unable to open up quickly. Just have any one like him the next time to lag or hold the chest to the side a little longer and make the turn an after math and not like a slice or flat where you can turn into the court a little faster. Also, experiment with tossing the ball in front of the line on his left side to get more power out of the quick serve. I used to toss mine over the left shoulder behind the back line and was doing well but, now my toss is like my slice and flat serve in the court but to the left of me. I got this tip from a Spanish coach and it worked well. Thanks for the video its always nice to see coaches with confidence in their ability and the willingness to share their knowledge with others. Just sharing, USPTA Elite Pro, ICI Pro Coach, MTM Pro, PTR Pro, and USNTA certified.

    • @Aaswing
      @Aaswing 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep, great observation. I was thinking exactly the same thing. He is opening his body up too early which will cause the ball to have more slice.

      @@tenfitmentennisimpulse I would recommend to ask him serving with platform stance while training kick serve. It will allow him to stay more closed and also throw the ball even more to the left.

    Thank you so much for your videos. Been trying to hit a kick serve for a while and all the other videos are guys that can't actually hit one, so they do all the drills, start on their knees, hit up on the ball, toss behind you, etc. but never get past "let's just do it slow so you understand"...and then when it's time for these "experts" to put it all together, they demonstrate a few and have ZERO kick. The video usually ends with them shirking away saying "We'll that's a little kick, but there's wind and I'm not warmed up and....um....I just wanted to show you the basic motion...being able to actually hit a kick serve is just a minor detail". They lose credibility. You do the explanation and preparation but then show how it comes together...like your serve at 8:46....you aren't even putting everything into it but damn that kick serve is nice. Thanks again.

    coach Milan , thanks for your tutorial , i started learn tennis from 3 years ago , and i m already 30+ years old . I ususally serve double fault while serve , and i have modified my serve with so many tips though these years , but none of those is better than your kick serve tip . Now my serve gets more consistent and i enjoys the game than before . Although I still not able to use the power from leg , but your kick serve tip is great even i serve only with my arm to play double games with my partner , the ball still bounce in the serve line and has more spin and quality than before.

    Thanks for the video and the great tips Milan. I've been trying to find a kick serve forever with mixed results. I just got back from the courts with your tips and had the best serving session in ages as I hit a super high percentage of strong hit spun serves on court.
    I've been watching a lot of videos on the matter, but something in your video pushed me over the top. For me, I think the exercises showed me the need to keep the elbow way up throughout the stroke. I can see it finally starting to come together thanks to this video. :)

    Great stuff as usual. Love the tip about which side of the hand the racket handle finishes up on. Only a suggestion ,- but it would have been good to see the ball kick to the right from the other side of the net, coming towards the viewer. Love your videos though. Racket handle tip helped me a lot when I tried it out on court today. Gives me something definite to work on because I fond the kick serve difficult. Many thanks!Tony Costa.

  • @jimbo92107
    @jimbo92107 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    First, great breakdown of the motion, but this version is for young backs. For older folks like me, hold the racket more with your fingers so it flips easier. This will slightly reduce the need for tossing the ball so far behind your stiff, aching back. Also, turn more sideways, like McEnroe, and use torso rotation to create the up and out flip. This saves wear and tear on your back and shoulder, and you can still get a decent kick, but not as much as these guys get.
    Oh for my high school days. I jumped one over the fence once! My coach and I were laughing. There's a certain very specific spin that makes the ball leap high in the air, but you only see it happen once in a very long while, when hitting kick serves. I bet Denis has seen a few of these. I called it a "pinch spin" because I figured the ball must be contorting slightly as it meets the court, causing the abnormally high rebound. My topper back then would whack the fence between half way and three quarters up. The occasional pinch ball would hit the fence two or three feet higher.
    Hey Denis, you should do a video about mixing up your spin, speed and placement. That's how old guys like me survive on the court. Nobody talks about the notorious change up... ;-)

    Another really helpful video. You make the kick serve look easy but it's not. I once played against s talented
    16 year old boy who plays for Wales and I couldn't return his kick serve. His coach had taught him to really make use of the last 2 fingers on his hand to help his racket come over the ball at the end of the stroke. Is that something you know about or would recommend? Tony Costa.

    Toss is too far left for 7 to 2, I think you mean to hit a kick out wide, also try not having him rotate so much until the ball is struck, love your passion it's not easy to see flaws until you edit and slow it down.

    I have this issue with the second serve, it's good but takes some slice to the left, i need to adjust that because i only can takes advantage of my second service un Deuce SIDE because this mixture of slice-top the ball i can hit with my arm movement, my second service is poisonours but only in Deuce SIDE , in ad SIDE i need to jump compressing my right leg a little bit to make sure that the ball is going to right SIDE enough before the bounce , because when the ball bounces is going to the left SIDE, my only way in this serve is bounce just in the right SIDE courner or line(making the oponent trying to hit a very compressed backhand, usually goes to the net). I need to get the streme toss to the left 😆🙃. Some time ago i did great first services with this bounce to the right SIDE(140km/h+ )

And now I cant play this in friendly matches with my friends (anyones dont´like this :) ). It is effective if your opponent is smaller. I like to use this then, it is funny

    I’m a little confused. When you said the grip should be more towards the backhand side, for a righty is that towards the left or right?

    Great! thanks for this :) do you do the same way even from the deuce side?

    • @tenfitmentennisimpulse
      @tenfitmentennisimpulse  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, glad you find it useful! On deuce side same form, except that, in my opinion, you stand closer to that centre line and you are just slightly less turned sideways because your serve direction is different. Of course, the most effective kick serve on deuce side is down the T to opponent's backhand (if he is right-handed).

    • @Mcweeever
      @Mcweeever 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do the exact same way, but with your left hand... I don’t play tennis, but that is obvious!

    The reason why your player is slicing the ball is because he is tossing the ball too far in front of him, toss should be at 9 o clock 😉 Good video too! Im a tennis coach as well

    Whats the point in kneeling? Just look look like a complex drill?

    • @LeiteriN1
      @LeiteriN1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      By kneeling, you hit the Ball behind you in your back without curving your back so much, so the legs do the job

    • @ATA-wi2lh
      @ATA-wi2lh 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      LeiteriN1 i dont think this is true. If it were, standing with a wide base when serving would eliminated the need for arching your back.

    what about from the Deuce court ? i find it much harder to hit the kick serve from the duece court

    • @tenfitmentennisimpulse
      @tenfitmentennisimpulse  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's all about shoulder turn, momentum of the swing and how you see the court. You can program your mind to see the court, targets and angles differently!

    • @TheDrakulie
      @TheDrakulie 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tenfitmentennisimpulse on the duece court, swing path is little different than ad court. in duece court, swing path is almost straight up for kick serve. i find that more difficult to achieve. do you feel like that also ?

  • @bobcongdon3701
    @bobcongdon3701 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    One of the most important points is not mentioned.
    You have to hit the ball on it’s way down- not at the top of the toss

    This is a really good video, since the teacher can actually execute it as well as teach, however could you please upload a slow motion video of you doing it? It seems the 7 to 1 o'clock isn't what you are actually doing. you seem to be doing like 8 to 3, but hard to see since so fast

    • @tenfitmentennisimpulse
      @tenfitmentennisimpulse  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment Michael! Definitely, we will make soon some slow-mo videos on the second serve! You probably meant 8 to 2, still that is quite similar to 7 to 1, depends on how far left is the toss and where is the aim. Both should be fine if matching the toss placement.

      Click the settings button => set speed from Normal to 0.25 + ignore the slurry drunk talk = your very own slow motion video

    Didn’t finish watching the vid but 5 min in and the toss....extremely to the left...I find it best for the ball to be out in front of me in order to brush up and now lean back while serving because while you are serving like this it seems to be inconvenient to set up for the next shot if they return your kick serve. But then again what do I know
