I was more so talking about the fact that it is common for women's writing to be discredited as a result of gender biases in the publishing industry, as well as the attitudes towards women's intellectual capabilities. oh and, by the way, I do read books by female authors, and that is precisely why I made the comment - to encourage others to look into women's literature. thank you for your comment.

fun fact : you said that “Such A Fun Age” is very visual and you just see it all happening in your head and that’s actually intentional ! the author wrote it with a movie the prospect of making a movie adaptation for it so it almost reads like a screenplay and that’s why it plays like a movie in your mind ☺️☺️☺️ i felt the EXACT same way when i read it and now i found out why

I read “Hamnet” last year and it actually takes Shakespeare’s wife’s POV. What I loved about the book was that it purposely left out Shakespeare’s name (never mentioned) and really loved me, esp at the end. Great book and highly recommend it!
Currently half way through Hamnet and really enjoying it! And yeah I like that Shakespeare is never mentioned by name, it means that we can focus on the other characters

i just finished reading ‘everything i never told you’ and it was absolutely brilliant! it pulled me out of a reading slump because it was so gripping. the descriptions of family and grief moved me to tears by the end, and it improved my understanding of what it’s like to be alienated due to your race. plus it has such a beautiful cover so it feels like a treasure to own.
I read this & "Little Fires Everywhere" practically back to back and I'm praying she writes another book soon. Probably one of my favourite living authors.

"Where the Crawdads Sing" and "Before the Coffee Gets Cold" are probably my TOP 2 books of 2021! So different from each other but both absolutely stunning ❤️
Where The Crawdads Sing is my favourite book. The writing is breathtaking and you are rooting for Kaya and just want to tell her everything will be okay. Can’t put it into words how much I love it and how much it means to me. Hope you love it!
"Where the crawdads sing" is currently being made into a film produced by Reece Witherspoon so it's definitely jumped up on my TBR list a few spots!!! Would love to read it before the film is out.

Loveless by Alice Oseman is seriously one of my favorite books of all time. I have never read any YA Contemporary book like it. It was so funny and touching and it felt so real and relatable. 5/5 stars, absolute perfection ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jack, for your words addressed to the novel Such a Fun Age - "It's one of those books where you forget that you're actually reading it, like there's a physical piece of paper and you're reading words. I don't know if that even makes sense", hear me say that anything that you find that leads you to books that almost seem to talk to you always makes sense. And thus, it absolutely does.

What I love most about Jack (apart from the fact that he's so smart) is how diverse his taste in books is!
YES. CIRCE. YES. I love that book, I was kind of sad that people were only reading Song of Achilles without giving Circe a chance. It’s so good, the depth of each character that Circe comes across, and how all the interactions leave her a little different then how they met her. It’s amazing.

Jack, I must say - the bit where you talk about how empathy is woven into Japanese society and how that lends itself into an introspective story telling in Japanese literature hit the nail on the head; everything I couldn't find the words to describe about creative Japanese works!
The audio book for Circe is SOOO calming!!! The narrator has a very soothing voice which I felt lends well to the story :)

Jack! I'm (hopefully) going to uni in September so I picked up your book - a few pages in, I wasn't sure if it was all going to be relevant to me having already picked my course, but I was laughing so hard (think biting-on-my-mask, starting to cry, borderline-hyperventilating laughing) that I had to buy it before the people in the shop started giving me odd looks... I ended up finishing it in two days! You're the only TH-camr whose videos I genuinely laugh out loud at and that translates effortlessly into your writing - you're so bloody entertaining. I found your book SO helpful and really reassuring about all sorts of things - thanks heaps x

Just finished 'Malibu Rising' and loved it, there isn't a big surprise as in her other 2 most popular books but this is my fave among them

Before the coffee gets cold is great! Circe is my favorite read of the year (and one of all time). It reads more like a character study, but its so precious
him mentioning Alice Oseman threw me off since i know her as a comic creator and have been a reader of Heartstopper for a long time :DD
Pro-tip: combine No One is Talking About This with watching Bo Burnham's Inside for the perfect existential crisis.

This might have ruined Science Fiction for me because of how high it sets the bar for it. Somehow Andy managed to top his last book, the Martian and it is an _absolute_ treat to read while making the science more approachable to a wider audience with Project Hail Mary.
