It's a really scary world when you are just a little baby. Maggie will help him to feel safe and secure. This is a perfect match. The two will grow well together.
Maggie is such a gentle, sweet and loving soul. Kecil is blessed to have her as a surrogate. Maggie adores him and seems they are a perfect fit. What a wonderful outcome. Staff did an amazing job to try Maggie since the last surrogate didn't seem to bond with Kecil and they kept trying to find the perfect match. Such empathy and compassion the staff showed by not giving up for him to have the best surrogate. Hello to Maggie and Cecil I just came to this channel by accident and I am so glad that I did because when I saw how cute she still was crying for Maggie to help him that her down the steps into her was so sweet and then just watching her and walk a little bit and he said she's learning to walk she is so precious bless these two. I would have never thought that Maggie was a surrogate I thought she was the mother until I started reading the comments so that is even better than awesome because they found each other great and she seems to love her a lot like I said I would never thought I thought it was her baby.
Maggie was a wonderful adoptive mom to Kecil. She was always so patient and gentle with him. She passed away a few years ago, but her legacy lives on in the orangutans she raised.

I know this video is quite old but can't resist myself from asking: Is it just the lights and camera angle playing it's part in here or i am really seeing a dark fur(almost black) orangutan and a baby???? If so, then i am amazed....i have never seen one such alike in any other circumstances
Sweet baby and she is such a loving momma. Makes me sad to see them in what I hope and assume are only their sleeping chamber but just the same its cold and hard , I'll have to check the zoo out to see their others areas, but I sure hope it gives them a better quality then the prison like room the vidio was taken in. I do understand there's many sides to everything and reasons BUT it's still sad as hell that this is the life they live.😢 just for the entertainment of humans. Heartbreaking.!!
That is their sleeping room for privacy and quiet, all animals need that. The life they live in the wild in one of brutality, death and destruction of the natural habitat. Many are burned to death because of pine oil harvesting. Many animals can't be released into the wild. Elephants are decreasing at a rapid rate because of the Asian ivory market. Most people would agree, that animals belong in the environment but not at the expense of their extinction.
+Absoleet A Maggie was already blind in that eye when she came to us from another institution. The only information we have is that she lost the vision in her one eye at a very young age. However, this visual impairment has not impacted her quality of life.
Send them to a sanctuary where they can be educated, cared for and returned to the wild The days of keeping wild animals on concrete behind bars is over. *Stop abusing these gentle intelligent beautiful animals*

It's just a combination of the lighting and the camera that we were using at the time.
Maggie is an angel 💕💖
Beautiful , wonderful creatures.
That environment sounds so loud. :(. Too bad there isn't forest sounds in the background for them.
Aww, love them😍
Aw Maggie taking care of the little baby
How sweet
Too cute.
Heartbreaking to see them in captivity
Adorable. Thanks!
seeing them so human like, makes me feel its not a zoo but a prison, even though i know its still pretty good for them.
Precious!
She is one of the best animal mons I've ever seen but am I missing something here why are both of them blackish coler instead of an orange color
It's just a result of poor lighting!
aren't they suppose to be orange?
Wonderful!
Why is their fur darker than before?
Kind of curious about it myself. There are healthy for sure, but its either the climate or just the camera color.
How does the baby get milk?
Kecil's hair is cracking me up.
Best. Hair. Ever.

Are they ever allowed out of jail?
They need some green. They need some trees and limbs and natural vines not all that hay and plastic and chains
0:27 lmaao baby is crying because it’s too high to get down.
How did Maggie get blind in her left eye? I noticed it right way.

Why do they look so dark? usually they are a light brown color.
Poor lighting!
So does the surrogate have the milk to feed this baby or did the zoo have to train him to bottle feed ?
Kecil was bottle fed before being started on cereals, just like a human baby. Maggie taught him how to forage.
Sooo cute 🥰. Why are these orangutans so black looking? Usually, the orange men of the forest are orange in color. Nevertheless, they are adorable 🥰
It really depends on the lighting!
@@BrookfieldZooChicago oh, thank you 😊

Bad lighting + bad white balance = wrong color orangutan!
