- Visitors to the Budapest Zoo @zoobudapestofficial are daily treated to the most moving moments as mother Lia dotes on her month-old infant Móric. Móric was born in early August. Other orangutan family members also appear in this short clip. For a few moments, even three-year-old gorilla Indigo, who lives next door, is seen observing their dynamics with curiosity.

When I see this depth of mothering I get a twinge in my heart thinking about how much orphaned orangutans are missing out on. Same with elephants.

Orang fathers aren’t that much a part of the fam in the wild. They like their peace and quiet.
@@jstajoy Orang males become aggressive and solitary as they mature. They only show up for a few days to reproduce & spend their adult lives alone without other male, female or child companions. Not unlike many adult human males.

@@joshuaehman4027 hi Joshua... Sorry if a mothers love has not being in your life or was distant... 😔 It's very rare for a woman not to have a natural response/instinct to mothering. A maternal instinct is supposed to come naturally. But in rare case it's absent..😔 I have learnt of such things.. and know of such things... but take heart..! 💜 you will adapt and overcome. Sometimes these trails in life make you stronger or resilient.. best wishes for you darling...🤗💜✌️

While it's true that some people use religion to oppress others, lots of other people are inspired by religious belief to be compassionate and caring. Spiritual references can be used metaphorically, you know.

Life in the wild is cruel. Animals are eaten alive, starved to death, racked with disease. A beaver dam will destroy an ecosystem, army ants kill everything in their path. What we see as the beauty of nature is a tiny slice of nature. A rotting carcass is beautiful to a hyena.

yes I always used to worry about baby orangutans and them losing grip of their mothers fur that I had to google it, apparently they are strong enough to carry their own weight & their grip is very strong even from birth 🥺

This is sooo beautiful it’s just so touching,when I think back to when I was younger and animals in the zoo had no companionship or room to move around I feel heartbroken,I’m glad my dad and mum didn’t take me again until it was a safari,as we all felt the same how cruel.

Mother Lia is so calm and loving. She kisses her baby and has this look of absolute peace in her eyes. What a gift mother orangutans give to their children. It's hard to think of too many of these beautiful creatures being killed and their babies stolen in their native Indonesia. It should be a crime to risk this critically endangered species. At least Móric will get to grow up with mum, even if he never sees the rainforest. I wish them well.

It’ll be better to see them at sepilok or the island just for them can’t even say I want them back at home because of the palm plantations, poachers, and the illegal pet trade just please make them feel love they are on the verge of being extinct please hold on to our dna we are looking at history they are our family we gotta protect them I’m teary eyed typing this
Ken Erickson do you know anything about sepilok? Or the other orangutan schools and what they do? They have islands and lands that they bought and land that they got ok’d thru the government for the orangutans and when they release them they don’t just forget about them 😂 they put chips in them to keep up with them they go back and feed them they check up on them give them medical care still bring them back if need too or let them roam around back and forth as long as they want it’s better than keep them captive in a zoo and I said it’s better to see them there than back in there original habitat. But those places keep them away from palm plantations and far away from humans as possible because they are used to humans and may think all humans are nice. Watch shows about what they do I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy it and get a better understanding on what they do because you got the wrong idea but 1 thing we can both agree on SAVE AND PROTECT THE ORANGUTANS 🦧 ❤️
