I love how James is actually listening and explaining in an honest and respectful way. Asking relevant questions and meeting the caller where he's at. The most helpful dialogue I've heard on this show ever. Great work! And kudos to the caller who actually answers the questions instead of trying to defend his position at any cost. Very interesting to listen to!

We can see the word GOD, so give the definition we see in truth without the Deity.

We have eyes to see words, we're living.
Use GOD as a source to measure in truth.

And god changed the number of rings that trees grow to throw off how we calibrate the radio isotope dating. Similarly, he created fossil layers to be a certain way throughout the entire world, again to throw off how we calibrate the isotope decay rate. And he changed all the artifacts in the settlement so that it looks like it was a settlement from that long ago.
Why would we go through all the rigamarole to try to deceive man's science that would develop thousands of years after his "creation". Well, he works in mysterious ways.🤷♂️
The youngest diamonds are 900 million years old, diamond miners and geologists spend a lot of money to find them and work out where they are. More likely 2-3.5 billion years. Unless man made modern diamonds. I learned this as a boy from diamond miners. Then I realised the Bible is fiction.

It's funny because when scientists say there is going to be a total solar eclipse on a specific day and time, everyone takes the day off of work, buys special viewing glasses, and sits around staring at the sky for a couple hours, without doubting for a second that the moon will obscure the sun for several minutes.

I loved this era of axp. Much more conversational and chill. It's great hearing more from the callers and I think exposes what the atheist experience is in that these theist thoughts are unbelievable.
Yeah, Forrest Valkai got me into TAE, but since I've started watching these older episodes, I find it kind of hard to watch the new ones. There's just some aspect to it that's different now. It seems like back then, the hosts were a lot less argumentative, and they put in more effort to understand the actual ideas that callers were trying to convey. The modern hosts are great, but I feel like they're better "content creators" than call-in show hosts.
Can't count how many times I've heard a caller starting to make a point, and then getting interrupted by a host before they can even finish their sentence. The internet lag doesn't help either, when the caller has a full second of latency.

Sure their beliefs are ridiculous, unfounded, potentially damaging to themselves and definitely damaging to others. But that doesn't mean the answer is just insult them and call them like an institute patient.
They're not "stupid" because they believe in the bible or that the Bible is literal. What's more likely Is they're extremely indoctrinated, or extremely isolated from other information. Maybe their community is ultra religious and they haven't even heard of many people who don't believe. Maybe their parents practically beat it into them. Maybe they have experienced immense loss and grief, and the calming notion of an afterlife is enough to convince them to throw out all logic and reason which would disprove their safety net. Your IQ doesn't "go up" when you stop believing in God, plenty of believers leave and come onto this very show and are extremely intelligent people. They didn't gain +50 IQ when they put down the bible, they just got better information and learned a new skill (critical thinking).
Point is this guy's beliefs are insane and unfounded, but he's still a guy and shouldn't be reduced to a helpless mental patient.
Look, dude, I get it, delusional disorders are a real thing. The treatment is generally not institutionalization; it’s talk therapy, possibly medication. And we know it’s curable because deconversions, even without treatment, are at an all-time high! These people are all victims, and instead of infantilizing them we should be making it easier, more welcoming, more advantageous for them to get out of what was done to them and join the rest of us in solidarity reality.

As a Black American Male, I feel that other Black American males who are Christians and who call in to this show should really consult with their Christian friends, and run their thoughts by them, so they can help construct an argument that is strong and which represents the best they have to offer and not the weakest and not the worst. That's just my observation. 😊
There is NO strong argument for a creator god of the universe regardless of WHO you meet. The BEST so far is always: A thousands year old book said so.

Each of the gospels give an account of Jesus's life that's different. Some apologists say that it's because it's different eye witness testimonies where different witnesses record different things that are important for one but not another.
For example, Herod ordering the death of all infants wasn't a big deal for some. And the dead walking the streets of a large city wasn't a big deal. The last words of Jesus on the cross wasn't a big deal for all of them.
The bible, even for something so important as Jesus's life is not accurate. And we are to believe that a donkey talked just because one guy claimed that he heard a donkey talk?
There are no eyewitnesses in the entire bible. The first stories about Jesus have been written at least decades after his supposed death. by the way by the same anonymous authors who also wrote about people living in fish or hordes of undead walking around. (Mt27,52-55)

The Bible, is essentially the only source for all the stories of your God.
It's just amazing that it's a a sheep loving book with over 500 references to sheep, flocks, lambs, shepherds and such was ONLY brought to a bunch of illiterate sheep herding superstitious people in the middle east. The only reference to sheep it missed is a recipe for mint sauce. The bible somehow never appeared anywhere else in the world, despite there being other civilizations, tribes and people's everywhere...

And, one of my favorites, appeal to probability, when they say that X could not have happened by chance, and then go on to make up very high odds against it. The other day, one of the trolls mentioned the prophecies of Jesus coming to pass and stated the odds for all of them coming true as 1 in 1,000,000,000.......and in the process, combined these two fallacies. He couldn't show the math when queried, instead he just appealed to authority.

I think back in the 16 century scholars worked out the age of the earth by adding together the ages of all the characters of the bible.

Its just shows that no matter the weight of scientific evidence about the age of the earth some people will still believe a compiled religious book written a few hundred or thousands of of years ago .If someone can provide evidence that the earth is only a few thousand years old then they need to produce evidence and not just quote an old book . If you dont know what stories are true or not true in a religious book then I would not rely on for my historical data.

A book is proof of nought. If there was an extinction level event on earth and in 200 years the surviving band of humans found Harry Potter, it's easy to see how a legend, a cult, then a religion, would grow around a fictional text.
